Hello,

Trying to use this nice tool but haven't found how to create a mission.

How can I do it. I just want to generate missions or campaign for FW190-A5 on Kuban.

All help heartfully accepted.

Have fun

If you want to fly the FW190 A5 your best bet is to join I/JG51 in 1943 on the Kuban map.

To create a campaign you press New under campaigns and follow the two part work flow.  Takes less than 2 minutes if you know what you are looking for.  In your case:

Map = Kuban

Date should be 1943 time frame (Try March 1943.  I think that is the earliest)

Squadron is I/JG51, which is the only fighter squadron flying the FW190.

Once the campaign is created then you fly the mission, which is a 4 part work flow.

From your campaign, press Mission to get to the mission activity screen

Press Mission again to generate a mission

First part is information only.  Advance to the next step

Mission map where you may choose to edit waypoints.

Waypoint parameter map where you can choose to edit some WP parameters.

Pilot selection map where you can select pilots, planes, and payloads.

Press "Accept Mission" to make the mission available in the game

@PatrickAWlson How do you know which aircraft is flying where and when? I am trying to create a Spitfire Campaign with a majority of ground attack missions for an English pilot (RAF). Is that even possible?

Why can I only select All Maps or Bodenplatte? Why can't I select Kuban, for example, or earlier years?

The "where" is based on service and time period. In 1944 the RAF is only flying on the Bodenplatte map, so that's all you get.

For the "what/when", I wrote a small python script that reads the PWCG data files and makes this available (someday I hope to spend some time with the modding tools to be able to do this with the game's career mode, it really should be part of their UI). See

As pointed out, the RAF was not in the Kuban, so you can't do an RAF career there.  Has to be VVS, Luftwaffe, or Regia Aeronautica to fly on the Kuban map.  There is a VVS unit in Kuban that flies Spitfires in 1943.

I don't think there is a "mostly ground attack" spitfire career.  However, all spitfire careers have some ground attack.  You can scrub missions that you do not like and generate new ones.  Generating a mission only takes a few seconds.

You did give me an idea though.  Currently PWCG looks at the squadron and chooses a role for the mission based on configurations.  I can add an alternative mission start that lets the player choose the mission role.  Shouldn't be too difficult.

Awesome Pat - Always coming up with new ideas to improve this generator. I use the generator basically every single day.

I hope you manage to squeeze in some time to play it for fun.

Thanks as always!

Thanks Pat, love this idea. I don't enjoy dogfighting as much as I do ground attack missions, so that's much appreciated.

Thanks @grcurmudgeon Much appreciated. Took me a minute to learn how to open and run the file but it did exactly what I needed.

What I did see is that several aircraft, at least those I own, never seem to appear, such as the La5FN.

This has saved me a huge amount of time, so thank you for sharing :)

For anyone else looking for Spitfire data, look no further:

SPITFIRE
    326 Squadron BRITAIN
        spitfire: 1944-09-01 to 1945-06-01
    349 Squadron BRITAIN
        spitfire: 1944-09-01 to 1945-06-01
    403 Squadron BRITAIN
        spitfire: 1944-09-01 to 1945-06-01
    629th Fighter Air Regiment RUSSIA
becomes 57th Guards Fighter Air Regiment - 1943-03-01
        i16: 1942-01-01 to 1943-03-14
        spitfire: 1943-03-15 to 1945-06-01
    66 Squadron BRITAIN
        spitfire: 1944-09-01 to 1944-11-01
        spitfireGriffon: 1944-11-01 to 1945-06-01

UPDATE - @grcurmudgeon

Now I've found out where they are flying, I am unable to select these squadrons inside PWCG - any ideas?

For example, where are 326 Squadron (or what am I doing wrong?)

326 Squadron BRITAIN]

        spitfire: 1944-09-01 to 1945-06-01

@Skipper- Looks like you chose VVS as your service since it's giving you Russian units.  Choose RAF on the preceding page.

It doesn't actually show individual models, but rather product lines. For example, the "spitfire" section you have includes the SpitV and SpitIX. The "spitfiregriffon" one of the squadrons switches to is the SpitXIV. The La5FN will fly under "lagg". Pick a "lagg" squadron and you'll progress through the various lagg models depending on the time period. Same with yak, etc.

You have the Attack role selected, try Fighter to get Spitfires.

Finally managed to find one.. The 66th . @grcurmudgeon from your list, it looks like there should be more options though?

I'd have to dig through and look, it depends on roles, dates, etc. Some squadrons change names and I try to indicate that. All of this data is in json files in the PWCG folders, my tool just reads them, so you can always find the file for a squadron you are curious about and check its dates, the planes it flies, etc.

Thanks, I'm happy flying my Spitfire with the 66 Squadron for now!
