Small animation question

When you get to flying with the pilots face up against the gunsight, and you spend time matching speed at short ranges with the A20 certain things seem funny and enjoyable then go rather stupid...

 

 

1.  The lower gunner. pump enough rounds into that turret/general area of the turret you can actually REMOVE the turret from the plane.  The gunner falls out, and stops with his feet inside and then gets pulled up back into the plane. 

 

Any chance we could have a historically accurate animation that can give us a randomized guy falling out for fun?

 

2. When you get close enough, long enough  you get to see damage to the plane in a rather great way. Sure the visual damage may not match what the game is giving you credit for BUT somethings are nice.. 

 

      Blowing off engine cowls on the big bomber... common to actually see small holes from shell fragments on those panels. 

 

3. Object interference question..  Why is it that when an a20 crewmen bails, BOUNCES off of your plane.... they ALWAYS have a successful chute opening? In theory they should get a nice fail rate...  as the crews were manually opening chutes from what i remember. 

 

4. When i fly my plane through the prop of an a20 MY prop is destroyed and i can have my canopy torn off  

            YET my pilot NEVER dies, OR gets injured

 

   AND     NOTHING   happens to the prop on the A20

Seriously though, accurate animations for guys falling out of planes are pretty low on my personal list of most wanted features. You're free to have another opinion though.

Alright, I’ll give you a proper answer.

 

The new damage modelling that you suggest for the A-20 will likely not be added (let’s hope that it is!). First, after an aircraft is released, not many changes are made, bar small bug fixes shortly after release. The A-20 is a few years old now, so that’s why I don’t think any changes like new damage modelling will be added. Also, at the moment, the devs are working on a new addition to the series, three collector planes, giving feedback to Ugra Media about the development of Flying Circus, working on drop tanks and a new fuel management system, Air Marshal mode, AND the Advanced Mission Builder (they have a lot on their plate, don’t they?). So, even if such changes as you mentioned were put on the agenda by the devs, they would not arrive for some time. As it stands, the changes (in the scope of the game) are so minute that the devs would probably view it as time spent better on something else, as not many people would likely appreciate it (or even notice it) very much. That’s not to say that it’ll never happen, just my two pennies’ worth on the subject.

 

Now, about the prop damage (or lack of it, rather) on the A-20. I don’t have my PC at the moment, so I can’t check for sure, but I have never encountered your problem. Can’t say I have ever had anything like it happen, but I don’t think that the devs would allow such an oversight. The colliders on the plane you were flying (presumably a 190 or 109) are sound, and so are the ones on the A-20’s prop, otherwise it would not bend when it hit the ground. This leads me to believe that you have either found a very rare error, or that your game files need reparation. As I said, I have not tested my theory, but that is my opinion on the problem. I’d be interested to hear what others have to say on the topic.

I think you should not forget that in multiplayer (if it's in multiplayer that it happened to you) there is an important thing to take into account, it's the "latency" and on three different levels:
What you perceive / What the server perceives / What the player in front perceives

i dont play multiplayer.   the few times ive gone online to check that out,  there have only been two servers active.. no BODY was on them,,, and one wanted a password... other one wanted me to download 400 megs of files that werent explained in anyway.. 

 

If i fly through a propeller, and it destroys My propeller and removes my canopy,    there should be damage to the propeller i flew through... 

 

And my pilot should be killed in REAL LIFE

Sounds like you had "mods" enabled. Without mods you should have quit a long list of servers available.

I think they "turned off" external damage to the propeller awhile ago. EG, You can damage your own propeller. You can not damage another objects propeller, even with gun fire.

It doesnt explain why the propeller of the A20 has enough interaction to damage my plane, but yet NOT enough power to kill my pilot.  You think a big propeller like that spinning through my cockpit, canopy, AND  pilot   would kill the pilot.    

 

Even the 50 AP can kill my pilot when it hits me..

Id be tempted to try those non mod servers   EXCEPT.......    their is a slight wee tad bit of a quirk with the game system for me. 

 

If i unselect the "use mods" option boxes and then try to log in online,,  it rejects every single attempt to log in online until i reselect the "use mods" boxes.

The game in general has a fair amount of jankiness when it comes to collisions, particularly in multiplayer, but singleplayer is no exception. I've lost props smashing into someone's tail with no appreciable damage to them, and likewise sawn off wings in a head on collision and survived with less damage than a polystyrene boulder thrown by an overly melodramatic actor. 

 

To be honest it's hardly surprising, I've never seen a game with anything resembling satisfying collision physics for fast moving vehicles, it's something that's extraordinarily difficult to get right without also melting your computer. I can't say Il-2's collisions are very good, but they're dangerous enough to discourage them (unless I'm out of ammo of course), which is really all that's needed I feel.

russian fighters snap wings at the wing cannon,,, 80% of the time.  10% you stick inside the other plane  10% you just bounce off and go "weeee"

 

Russian fighters a have the tendency that when the wing snaps off, they tumble for 10 seconds, and then simply fall straight down nice and gently.

Ahh this was one of my preferred oldie. I remember when I was a small kid maybe 10-11 years old (this was in 69-70) and we had a black and white TV and we could get only one channel. One day an episode of Star Trek was aired during the early hours of the evening (by luck we were watching TV) and so with my two little brothers we discovered for the first time a science fiction movie. But Star Trek was aired at a much later evening hours once a week or so as it did vary. And so we had with my little brothers to negotiate with my grandma (she lived with us and generally my parents where out in the evenings) to have permission to stay (later than our official lights-out sleeping time) the evening when the episode was aired to see it. She didn't understand at all science fiction and for here this was utter nonsense. But she didn't want to kill our enthusiasm (imagine three excited kids shouting and jumping around) so she generally would make an exception.

As I said we watched in total maybe 20-25 episodes in Black and White before the channel stopped with the series. When much later I had the opportunity to have them again in color and on a higher quality screen with nice contrast levels it was an incredible disappointment. In fact the color version made more apparent the fake elements or the fake environment of the scene or the movie effects. Black and White in fact Gray and White as the Black and White TV screens (approx 600 scan lines at 25 fps or 50 interlaced) of the time did have more a light grey for black, and so the low contrast and greys made the whole scene blend better and appear more natural. 

Sure that the kid eyes where not much trained and later on when the eyes have become used to a much better image quality and CGI the difference pops out even more.

This has not stopped me to have the full collection of all the classical episodes in DVD in my library. 

And I still happens (when some nostalgia kicks in)  to look at them, you guessed it in black and white ?

pocketshaver, your lack of understanding of how the game works is stupefying.  Really.

 

When you enter a server online you download the mission that is in progress.  That is how it works and it's nothing nefarious.  And, as noted before, if you only see two servers something is wrong on your end, as was said, you probably have "mods on" mode turned on.  Also check YOUR realism settings and make sure that "unbreakable" is not checked.

As ive already said to the same useless suggestion.  

 

1.  i dont use unbreakable mode.  Defeats the purpose of seeing how much wing ill loose when i ram a plane

 

2.  i gots "mod on" mode turned to ON.... but WHEN i try to login ONLINE  with it turned off...   it wont let me log in online.

IF you'VE got MODS on TURNED to ON, you NEED to SEARCH for SERVERS that ALLOW mods. THERE are INDEED very FEW servers THAT do. IF you WANT to SEE all SERVERS, you NEED to TURN mods OFF and THEN also SEARCH for SERVERS that DON't ALLOW mods. IF you STILL search FOR servers THAT do ALLOW mods, YOU'll STILL see VERY few SERVERS regardless OF if YOU've TURNED mods ON or NOT.

MAYBE if you check out the mods area of the FORUM, you can find some petty cool ones like the GRASS or CLOUDS mod, or maybe the PILOT IN COCKPIT mod would be cool so you can see when he gets hit by the PROP since that happens apparently.

i figured out the data repack error..   

 

apparently to use custom plane skins it makes me want to use mods on mode

 

turning mods on mode off... it wants those custom skins TO DISSAPPEAR from the game installation.... thus the demand to re download the game.

Yeh, no, that’s not figured out.

 

As custom skins (the DDS images that go in data/graphics/skins) do not require any particular setting for the mods mode.

And what exact message do you get?  I have never had any trouble with my Custom skins Mods ON or OFF.

Look, I have asked 'generalized' questions and caught some flack for my being unclear or confusing but when I was precise in my issue I got precise advice that helped solve the problem.

its not a lie when people go about claiming that 59 hits with 50 AP should do the same damage as 10 rounds of HE
