It just did.  Mine just happens to have wings.

Purchased.  I already have C-47 units in PWCG on both fronts.  I also have iconic parachute drop missions in the West for Arnhem and Plunder (Rhine crossing drop).  As soon as the plane is flyable people can plod into dangerous places in their favorite defenseless target :)

Pre-ordered. I've had hours of fun with the Ju-52, I'm sure this one will be a good one too!

Oh my Stars, NEW Great War designs?!
Hold me down, Mr. Potlocket, I thought we'd never see the day!

I like the C47, and its soviet counterpart, yes - and the snipe is delightful - but oh, O! I am over the moon about actually seeing the Siemens-Schuckert flyable!

THANK YOU! Keep bringing us WW1-birds!

Dang! Pretty good news all around recently. Absolutely lovely!

It's easy to be jaded with the gaming industry as a whole these days given buggy products, cloned AAA titles, and rip-off DLCs. Normally I take pride in only buying games at steep discounts. The IL2:GB series remains the exception to that personal rule, though, because of the dedication that this dev team puts into its work. I've spent all of 30 minutes in the U-2VS, but I'm very happy that I bought it (and the other collector planes) knowing that those types of purchases make announcements such as this one more likely to occur. Keep up the great work!

Awesome news! These are a must buy for me. Excited to fly some more cargo missions on both sides now. Price isn't bad compared to FS2020, DCS prices well worth it to support the team.

This is awesome news. Now, if they developed a Storch or Hs-123, then there'd be full parity between Axis and Allies (as it would be the counterpart of the U-2).

Nice!

How Li-2 was aiming when dropping bombs? Was Li-2 fitted with bombsight or just shallow dive and hope for the best?

Bomb sight is a requirement of a bomber otherwise you are in dive bomber territory. ?

As it emerged, the bomber version of the PS-84 featured the four-gun defensive armament of the military transport variants, with racks for four bombs under the belly. A window for a bombsight was pigeonholed into the baggage loading door on the left side of the nose -- the bomber did not have nose glazing. There were three windows in the door, and the bombardier had to hinge the bottom window out to deploy the bombsight for use.

C-47 pre-ordered with lightning speed. Carefully camouflaged among various household orders previously agreed with the wife. Just in case...

I'm utterly fascinated by the following Jason's quotes:

- "All of these new planes do not have an impact on current development timelines for BON or FC2 and FC3."

- "This plane will be a challenge to make as references are tough to come by, and we don't believe any original examples survive today. However, we love a good challenge and plan to make this bird take flight just like all the rest."

As some have already commented, FC3 & PTO totally confirmed?

I also pre-ordered the C-47 to support Jason and the developers.  Really looking forward to flying it and carrying out missions dropping paratroopers and cargo bundles. Trying not to get my hopes up too high or read too much into the comments, but would really love the PTO as the next DLC after Battle of Normandy.

Pacific as the next expac is still as unlikely as ever I would not get your hopes up for it.

At least some Li-2s were flown by women. Will that be an option in the sim?

Quote

Since March 1942 she took part in the German-Soviet War. She was appointed commanding officer of the 101st Long-Range Aviation Regiment, formed in May 1942, which consisted of about three-hundred men: pilots, navigators, engineers and ground support personnel. Her unit was equipped with Lisunov Li-2, transport aircraft (Douglas DC-3 built under license) with pilots conscripted from the Civil Air Fleet.[5]

Grizodubova's Li-2s had a crew of six aviators: pilot, co-pilot, navigator, flight-technician, radio operator and air gunner. The unit had initially the task of bombing enemy troops, to fly to partisans and - in June 1942 - to help supply the besieged Leningrad. Subsequently, 101st Long-Range Bomber Air Regiment was ordered to bomb Wehrmacht units that had broken Bryansk and South-Westerns Fronts and were heading for Voronezh. Grizodubova led her regiment almost every night, overcoming strong flak defences and Luftwaffe night fighters in Kursk, Orel and L'gov areas.[6]

Indeed, they look the same but there are significant differences between the 2 (engines, cockpit,...).

Have a nice day.

:salute:

And they've got to convert everything to metric!!?

No problem, I felt guilty for not buying the parking simulator. ?

The hard part now is the waiting. But we´re in this together. ?

Two weeks my guess is... ?

As far as those go, I'll wait for a decent sale. None of those are what I'd particularly care about. Nice to have more things to shoot at, though.

You know, I've been a very ardent supporter of FC, buying and gifting several copies, but I honestly cannot give any more money with the current situation of the damage model in regards to control surface loss, wing shedding, and the huge differences of the strengths of some planes over others.

Sorry boys I just can't do it.

Good news for many  :)

Lots going on with a bright future ahead.

Talking about bright futures. This little snippet caught my eye...

This plane will be a challenge to make as references are tough to come by and we don’t believe any original examples survive today. However, we love a good challenge and plan to make this bird take flight just like all the rest.

This should get the hopes up for Pacific fans... if they can get an old bird from WWI with scarce information into the game, perhaps they can do the same for the Japanese aircraft that have scarce info available as well?

How nice. @Jason_Williams, I hope @Holtzaugeˋs data and simulations on the Siemens will be of assistance.

That was really a fantastic announcement, worthy of the trick played on us forists. ;)

So that be another order first thing tomorrow.

Edit: just saw that so far only the C47 is on… can‘t wait fir the rest. :)

Amazing news. As usually I will buy them all!

Now that both sides have their transport aircraft, we need recon aircraft. :)

And getting all new WWI kites that weren't part of RoF is absolutely awesome!!!
