I haven't flown since October 2020, back then everything was fine. My PC is not a high end machine but my game was smooth.

Now after updating the game (over 26Go), I'm facing bad performances/lags/stutterings on most popular online servers to a point that is unplayable.

Anybody could help me out please?

Do you think the latest patch(es) could cause this situation?

Thank you!

Hello,

With the updates and improvements that have been made, it is normal that the game becomes a little more greedy :)

What is your pc configuration and your graphic settings?

There have been a number of graphics improvements introduced over the last little while - some options that allowed you to crank up the graphics a bit more. It could be that after the patch some of those settings have been automatically engaged. Can you post a screenshot of your graphics settings? Also, include the specs for your PC, someone with a similar set up may be able to tell you where you need to reduce settings to get your smoothness back.

Some people experience  stuttering in MP. I used to get this, haven't for a long time since they instituted a fix (I think in 2020 sometime?) Some servers have a lot more going on in their mission (like Combat Box) and some people find they have more issues when there is more mission logic. Do you get stutters or lag when flying busy missions in Career mode of on the QMB?

I found that most stutters seemed to involve GPU memory - a card with more onboard memory improved my situation considerably, as did increasing my RAM. As soon as my card went past it's memory alotment the stutters became very bad. Some  things, especially MSAA anti-aliasing, are very memory intensive, and the game now allows 8X MSAA which can be very taxing.

@ChauveViking @RedKestrel Thank you for taking the time to answer me. I'm relief to know that patches have impact on performances.

My specs:

GTX 960

8Go RAM

My game settings:

2021_4_10__15_14_50.thumb.jpg.0e2a7e1bf479749624944c7663b2a93c.jpg

I was able to reduce dramatically freezes (when zoom in and out)/stutterings/lags by doing these:

   1. Updated Nvidia driver > settings by default > power management = high performance

   2. Overclock my graphic card with 'Gigabyte oc_guru 2'

   3. Stop flying with my beloved MSFFB2 (caused most of lags + untimely crashes to desktop)

   4. When my plane appears on online server, I pause my track-ir 1/2min to wait for textures to load

   5. I avoid big cities at low altitude

I hope this helps others in the same situation/hardwares

I run game on specs like this and this helped me. Turn off vsync in game and use Nvidea Vsync fast setting(game specific option) it works nearly the same and without performance hit helps reduce stutters. I get really bad stutters when in game Vsync is on. Set dynamic resolution factor to 0.9 it is not really that different. The experience will be a bit more smoother. If you go into the startup config file make sure bloom is off.

I still get server lag spikes from time to time but I dont know if that is server performance, connection or hardware issues...

@theRedPanda Thank you for your answer! This is very interesting and I will your tips:

Nvidea Vsync fast setting

resolution factor to 0.9

I will keep you updated, I just hope not to have tearing screen.

@theRedPanda I just tried your settings, performances are much better and game smoother BUT I have slight screen tearings, do you have the same?

Also, when FPS counter is off, you cannot modify dynamic resolution factor so I put back to 60FPS counter>resolution factor to 0.9>FPS counter back to off, does it make sense?
