Another vet here. I used to fly as one of the BFs back in the day on UK Dedicated, mostly. I've no idea how many hours I spent in IL-2 but it was *a lot.*

I stopped when CoD came out for one reason or another but played a lot of co-ops towards the end.

I'm just getting back into it trying out VR after quite a few years break, I used to fly with III/JG11 we had some great times always loved the old Hyperlobby days, easy to find your mates and see who was playing where, shame its not still used.

Was big into Microsoft Combat simulator, Pacific Theatre. Before that, European Airwar and Jane’s WW2 fighters. Then in 2001 Oleg released the IL2 demo. P39 vs the FW190. The rest is history.

Skies of Valor... of course...but have flown also on other servers (warclouds, UK dedicated, Spits vs 109 and Zeke vs Wildcats).

 Im  back  as well  ...    I used to fly Warclouds, and I go all the way back to Warbirds III .  I was able to retire early.    I built a rig for  VR, and got myself a Pimax8X     This new Il2 in VR???   Im glad no one took a picture of my stupid  grin when I took my first VR  flight. DCS Helicopters, then  Il2 Boddenplatte were my first VR experiences, and  there is no going back !!

I’ve been flying il2 since 2000-2001 when it first came out. Played jane’s ww2 fighters before that.  Love great battles and fly exclusively in VR.  Fly offline mostly.

  My Arkansas  Farm is  bout 45 miles  NE of Jacksonville AFB, as the C130 flies

I started playing IL-2 offline in 2004 when I bought IL-2 Sturmovik, IL-2 Sturmovik: Forgotten Battles - Gold Pack, Pacific Fighters, Silent Hunter 3, & Brothers in Arms: Road to Hill 30  from the UBI store. The shocking part of it when I think about it now is that they were not digital downloads either. DVD's for all them shipped directly to me.

I had joined the UBI forums in 2006 for another game. I passed that particular username on to pops when I gave him my old turn based games (Panzer General 3D: Assault & Panzer General III: Scorched Earth). Lol, he still plays them regularly to this day.

 

I came across the IL-2 titles when I was looking for a replacement to my flight sim fix of the time, European Air War. The 7217 error ended the days of playing that particular sim. It took another 4 years after I bought the IL-2 titles before I joined my first IL-2 forum (M4T) in 2008. Been here, there, and quite a few places elsewhere since then

Let's see, I started with Battle of Britain for my Atari 1040 STE, then SWOTL for PC. EAW, Janes WW2 fighters, then IL2 back in 2001 and all the expansions. Flew for I./JG53 squadron for on-line battles. I have been with IL2 Sturmovik ever since it  came out...happy flying everyone
