ACG_Cass Posted January 4, 2021 Posted January 4, 2021 (edited) I understand that flak guns and general AAA fire are very resource hungry from a server perspective and unfortunately have to be rationed down in multiplayer. I was wondering if it was possible to create in-air explosions using triggers? Effectively this would be a flak "mine" that would explode when a plane flys though a trigger. ACG_Cass Posted January 4, 2021 Author Posted January 4, 2021 Bummer. Reading up though it appears it's not just the gun AI and ballistics, but the actual flak burst that tanks server performance. Even if you were able to create explosions with triggers, it doesn't appear to be a solution. Thanks for your help @Sketch 1
IckyATLAS Posted January 5, 2021 Posted January 5, 2021 You can pair a cosmetic effect with real damage. Use the Command Damage on the object you would like to be damaged. Again everything is a matter of timing and fine tuning. There is no exact flak explosion effect but the one which is nearer is the "ammoexplosion" effect. Let's say it is BIG FLAK ? Here under a small demo made in about 15 minutes, so no fine tuning here but it gives you the idea. The simple scenario here is a P47 flying in a group of flak explosions and is destroyed. Altitude 500 mt. It is a camera that is placed to look at the scene. But you can also have the P47 be only damaged, it is up to you to decide. Fine tuning means to time correctly the explosions to the passage of the plane. Play the recording to see the effect.
