Beautiful screenshots!

PS: I encourage all players to use the correct markings. There were quite a few Italian planes with wrong markings. They should match those written on the mission table.

Thank you all!

During the day that followed, Italian units began to descend from the pass, towards other Italian forces advancing from Sollum. Troops from the 11th Hussar Regiment, the 2nd Fusiliers Brigade and the 1st Regiment Royal tanks slowed down the maneuvers of the Italians again.

The British retreated to Alam Hamid on 15 September and Alam el Dab the following day, attempting to inflict maximum casualties and damaging the road behind them as much as possible..."

Signed up for Tobruk (Wed nogo for me usually).

Seems going to have lonely blennie flights.

Bit concerned because if this is the mission TF hosted/tested on their server (late Friday?) I had 2 CTD in 5 flights. Guessing that it was the extra skins - and there was only 5 or 6 flying. Someone else also had a CTD. Not had this problem usually.

REGIA AERONAUTICA MISSION BRIEFING

Date: 13th September 1940

Time: 06:40 AM

Weather Conditions: Clear

Wind Velocity: 1 m / s from SE

___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Situation:
Today at dawn the assault on the enemy positions is finally expected.
The attack will take place on three fronts:
a) The NORTH tank group will have the task of conquering the city of Sollum and chasing any fleeing enemies. (Fort Capuzzo -> Sollum)

b) The CENTER tank group will attack Halfaya pass and then turn north to cut the enemy's retreat. (Qabr el Shinishi -> Halfaya Pass)

c) The SOUTH tank group will break through deep behind the enemy lines to wreak havoc on their line-up. (Nezeut Ghirba -> Halfway Hous)

The columns of supply trucks will follow the tanks columns at a safe distance, so at the moment we will have no "light" vehicles near the front.
The task of our air force will be to strike at the retreating enemy columns and provide support to our tanks as they advance east.
Any fortifications, artillery positions and minefields must be attacked by our Cr.42 and Br.20.
Once the bombs are dropped the Cr.42 will join the G.50 to protect the tanks from possible enemy attacks.

Our G.50s are certainly our best aircraft, but we only have 24 of them. They must be used with care!

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
ATTENTION:
Before attacking any targets on the ground identify them, remembering that:
- if they are "light" means they are probably enemy columns in retreat
- The enemy does not seem to have "heavy" vehicles near the front line

_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
- 77th, 78th, 73rd and 83rd squadrons - Brutus 1, Brutus 2, Falke 1 & Falke 2

Aircraft Available: Cr.42 / Trop
Home Airfield: Sidi Azeiz

As a fighter-bomber you will have the opportunity to assist the Br.20 in their attack against enemy positions and columns.
Every retreating truck is a valid target!
Once the bombs are dropped, patrol the front to protect our troops.

- 6 squadron / 2 group / 150th squadron - Diamant 1

Aircraft Available: G.50
Home Airfield: Bir el Baheira N.1

Your task will be to assist our Cr.42 in maintaining the air supremacy.
You are certainly our fastest fighters, but beware that you will have only n°2 FIAT G.50 each and that only 8 G.50 can fly at the same time.

- 35 squadron / 86 group / 191st squadron - Diamant 2

Aircraft available: Br.20 / Trop
Home Airfield: Gambut N.2

____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Your task will be to attack any retreating enemy columns, fortifications or minefields.
Thanks to your load of bombs you will be able to wreak havoc among the enemy ranks.

Avanti Savoia!!!

________________________________________________________________________________________________

ROYAL AIR FORCE MISSION BRIEFING

Date: 13th September 1940

Time: 06:40 AM

Weather Conditions: Clear

Wind Velocity: 1 m / s from SE

Situation:
With Italy's entry in war on 10 June, the situation on the border with Libya became increasingly tense.
In recent days the clashes along the border have become more and more numerous, it is evident that the enemy is preparing something.
At the moment we do not have tanks along the front line - the few at our disposal are kept in reserve in the rear.
This is why our troops will probably not be able to withstand a strong attack, so they will need all the support possible from our air force.
In that case the orders are to withdraw to Halfaya and Alam Barghut airports.

Our Hurricane I-FB / Trop are certainly our best aircraft, but we only have 24 units available. They must be used with care!

_________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

ATTENTION:
1) Before attacking any targets on the ground identify them, remembering that:
- if they are "light" vehicles it means that they are our columns in retreat
- we do not have "heavy" vehicles near the front line
2) At 8:15 AM, two squadrons of Blenheim IV/Trop will depart from Sidi Barrani to attack the enemy Gambut N.2 airport.
Rendez Vous:
a) Buq Buq, 8:27 AM, Angels 11.
b) Sollum, 8:32 AM, Angels 11.

______________________________________________________________________________________________
- No. 33 Sqn. - Acorn Red section

Aircraft Available: 2 x Hurricane I-FB/Trop for each Hurricane pilot
Home Airfield: Buq Buq Central

As a fighter-bomber you will have the opportunity to assist the Blenheim in their attack on any enemy tank.
Any tank moving east is a valid target!
Once the bombs are dropped, patrol the front to support our fighters.
Pay attention that you will have only N°2 Hurricanes each, and that only 8 Hurricans can fly at the same time.

- No. 112 Sqn. - Acorn yellow, Acorn green, Dysoe Red & Dysoe Yellow sections

Aircraft available: Gladiator II/Trop
Home Airfield: Buq Buq

Maintaining the control of the sky will fall mainly on you.
In case of retreat, cover our columns from enemy attacks.
While the enemy is equipped with faster fighters than yours, none can compete with you in terms of maneuverability!

- No. 14 Sqn. - Dysoe Green section

Aircraft available: Blenheim IV/Trop
Home Airfield: Sidi Barrani West

____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
You are the only ones able to delay the advance of the enemy columns.
Remember that every minute gained will allow our troops to reorganize a second defensive front.
Any tank moving east is a valid target!

Tally-ho!

We apologize to all players for last night's problems, we are analyzing the Log to understand the plot.

Due to the problems that occurred on the Server Side, despite ourselves, we believe it is right

to suspend the Campaign until a new order

when the Technical problems are absolutely resolved.

Certain of the understanding of all the pilots, we thank them for their participation so far.
We hope to inform you of the resumption of the Missions as soon as possible.

It was a real pity indeed, above all I can imagine your frustration in seing the efforts you put in organising this event going so wrong.

Hope you can soon find and correct the issues which led to last night's problems: I must say it was very immersive until it lasted and I'm looking forward into participating in another such event anytime soon.

Wishing you all the best.

I've flown my first combat mission in the CR.42 and it was great.

I could have destroyed at least 2 enemy trucks, but they teleported somehow on the road.

Here in the video section of this forum I uploaded my mission, its clearly visible. Some lags were also there and the disconnect when I wanted to take off for the 2nd time made it unlucky.

But still, it was a pleasure for me.

Please make more of it.

Are those frontline events for each saturday?

Guys Thanks for appreciating our job.
We checked the situation. The Mission was perfect.

The problems  was due to an overload of Steam Connection
that disconnected from German Server (remained working) .

We are organising to restart asap with TOBRUK AIR CAMPAIGN on Saturday and we are now in searching of a new Connection/ Server for Tobruk Event...

IN THE MEANWHILE:
WE SOLVED CONNECTION PROBLEMS FOR PLAYERS WITH ONLY "BLITZ" (NO TOBRUK) WHICH NOW CAN PARTECIPATE TO Battle of Britain 1940, therefore:

we Restart BOB-1940 Missions next Wednesday December 2nd !

The pilots' grid, as it is at the moment:  14 Italians vs 9 British. Come on Brits! join the RAF!

As per Hellrider, "table will be updated soon", so ignore that date of the 23rd of January, we can suppose that the date will be noted as the 6th of February.

Yes, the last page on the table is about the mission of 23 January.

Tomorrow we prepare the table (adding a new page) for the mission of 6 Feb.

Previous missions will remain on the list so people can go and check what happened then, if wants.

PS: @343KKT_Kintaro, players marked on the table are only a small part. Many have not signed. You can check who has played in the table below, where the stats are shown.

Table updated.

The column to mark with the X was removed, because it created confusion. You just have to write your name in the desired slot.

NB: for this mission, Hurricanes and G50s are limited to 8 in fly at the same time.

TOBRUK 1940 AIR WAR - TEAM FUSION & ITALIANWING
SATURDAY February 6th h 21:00 Rome Time ( 20:00 GMT)

HISTORICAL BACKGROUND AND DETAILED BRIEFING

Mission:
Ridotta Capuzzo - I° Sollum Battle - Lybia .
13 September 1940 (Historical)

"On 13 September 1940, the  Italian 1st Division CC.NN. "March 23" recapture Forte Capuzzo and a bombing hit Musaid, just beyond the Egyptian border.
Artillery fire and bombing began on the barracks (which was empty) and on the Sollum airfield, raising a cloud of sand.

When the sand fell, the Italian army could be spotted, ready to advance against the British cover forces formed by the 3rd Coldstream Guards Company. The Italians advanced along the coast with two divisions  behind a screen of motorcyclists, tanks, motorized infantry, and artillery.
The Italian units were an easy target for artillery and aircraft, however, the 1st Libyan Division "Sibelle" soon occupied the Sollum barracks and continued towards the city port, and subsequently heading along the coast towards Buq-Buq.

On the inland plain, an Italian advance towards Halfaya Pass was slowed by a force composed of the 3rd Company Coldstream Guards, a platoon of Northumberland Fusiliers and artillery.

They held the position until they were forced to retreat by the arrival of further Italian reinforcements.

In the night, two columns from the 2nd Libyan Division "Pescatori", the 63rd Division "Cirene" and the "Maletti" Group, from Musaid, and the 62nd "Marmarica" Division, from Sidi Omar, converged on the pass.

🇮🇹  REGIA AERONAUTICA MISSION BRIEFING

Date: 13th September 1940

Time: 06:40 AM

Weather Conditions: Clear

Wind Velocity: 1 m / s from SE

🇮🇹  ITALIAN AIR MISSION: Support your advanced tank columns bombing the Minefield in Sector H4,2. Attack Sollum Maritime Station in Sector H4,5. Attack British columns withdrawing from Sollum directed to Sidi Barrani, in Sector H4,5 and H4,2.

- 77° Squadriglia,  and 91° Squadriglia - Brutus 1, Brutus 2, Falke 1 & Falke 2

Aircraft Available: Cr.42 / Trop
Home Airfield: Sidi Azeiz

As a fighter-bomber you will have the opportunity to assist the Br.20 in their attack against enemy positions and columns.
Every retreating truck is a valid target!
Once the bombs are dropped, patrol the front to protect our troops.

- 150° Squadriglia - Diamant 1

Aircraft Available: G.50 (Limited to 24)
Home Airfield: Bir el Baheira N.1

Your task will be to assist our Cr.42 in maintaining the air supremacy.
You are certainly our fastest fighters, but beware that you will have only n°24 FIAT G.50 and that only 8 G.50 can fly at the same time.

- 191° Squadriglia - Diamant 2

Aircraft available: Br.20 / Trop (Limited to 16)
Home Airfield: Gambut N.2

____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Your task will be to attack any retreating enemy columns, fortifications or minefields.
Thanks to your load of bombs you will be able to wreak havoc among the enemy ranks.

Avanti Savoia!!!

🟥  ROYAL AIR FORCE MISSION BRIEFING

Date: 13th September 1940

Time: 06:40 AM

Weather Conditions: Clear

Wind Velocity: 1 m / s from SE

🟥  BRITISH AIR MISSION: Defend your withdrawing Columns in H4 and H3. Bomb the advanced Italian Columns and destroy the Italian Fighter Bomber Cr-42 before they attack the British assets and troops. Attack Amset 1 Italian Air Base in Sector G5,2

Aircraft Available: Hurricane I-FB/Trop (limited to 24)
Home Airfield: Sawani el Qasn

As a fighter-bomber you will have the opportunity to assist the Blenheim in their attack on any enemy tank.
Any tank moving east is a valid target!
Once the bombs are dropped, patrol the front to support our fighters.
Pay attention that you will have only N°24 Hurricanes in total, and that only 8 Hurricans can fly at the same time.

- No. 80 Sqn. - Acorn yellow, Acorn green sections

Aircraft available: Gladiator II/Trop
Home Airfield: Sawani el Qasn

Maintaining the control of the sky will fall mainly on you.
In case of retreat, cover our columns from enemy attacks.
While the enemy is equipped with faster fighters than yours, none can compete with you in terms of maneuverability!

- No. 112 Sqn. - Dysoe Red & Dysoe Yellow sections

Aircraft available: Gladiator II/Trop
Home Airfield: Sawani el Qasn

Maintaining the control of the sky will fall mainly on you.
In case of retreat, cover our columns from enemy attacks.

- No. 55 Sqn. - Dysoe Green section

Aircraft available: Blenheim IV/Trop (limited to 16)
Home Airfield: Sidi Barrani West 1

____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
You are the only ones able to delay the advance of the enemy columns.
Remember that every minute gained will allow our troops to reorganize a second defensive front.
Any tank moving east is a valid target!

Tally-ho!

The scope is simple.
Ensure the Communication and Coordinate the attacks at best sending the New Pilots (unaware of briefing)  in the right positions.
I suggest to  find some Vice Commanders for helping you in communication.
The TEAMSPEAK ATAG has just prepared a lot of sub Channels for us therefore prepare your Whisper list.
