New to VR need same advice

Hi gents,  I m flying BoS with Vr since a couple of days... what a marvelous experience it  is !! You are in...you fly in your fighter from the inside !! Waoooo

 

With MSSA activated and in Balanced modality, Antialiasing x4 and gamma to 0.8, I fly in MP with a solid 45-50 fps.

 

I m using the Oculus rift ( not S, I suppose is the Cv1 version, my friend gave me this extraordinary tool)

 

Here the specs of my laptop:

 MSI GL75 9SE-029IT Notebook Gaming, 17.3" FHD, Intel Core i7 9750H, 16GB RAM, 256GB NVMe PCIe SSD + 1TB (SATA), Nvidia RTX 2060 GDDR6 6GB

 

I learned for example  ( from Peregrine 7 post) by press H to disabilatate HUD to don t waste fps...

 

I would ask if I can do samething else to improve visibility/spitting...

I think Fenris' thread is still the best place to start:

 

If you're using the Rift, you should install OpenComposite to bypass SteamVR. That will give you a few extra FPS.

Antialiasing really cripples the performance, you will feel the difference fom 45 and 90 fps, I would go from the worst options and start increasing them, shooting is way easier at 90.

 

set zoom speed to 1 in the startup.cfg

Thanks @Alonzo, yes what @E69_Qpassa_VRsaid is also correct.

 

I'll update the thread to the new patch soon enough. Some things could get added - like the quick zoom mentioned by QPassa.

 

Wednesday my 3080 arrives, and Thursday the 8KX. Then it's testing time.

So do you suggest to remove MSAA and put AA to the lowest value first?

Didn t set the zoom till now, I think there is a voice to assign to a button in the menu and than I ll set in the config the startup.cfg to 1 as you say..

Yes Rani, I play without AA and I am able to spot tons of planes. Zoom is mandatory to identify the contacts
