Mamamango1Chewycat Posted September 10, 2020 Posted September 10, 2020 Not sure, but I downloaded the PWCG and I get to the mission screen and try to start the mission. The little generating mission screen comes up but after a couple of minutes it goes off and I can't fly the mission. Is it that I've edited the planes I own screen improperly? I've tried the Bodenplatte map and all planes that go with it in the purchase. Otherwise, everything "comes up."
Vyllis Posted September 10, 2020 Posted September 10, 2020 (edited) What do you mean by "can't fly"; the mission is not there, you can't load it or...? I did check all planes even if i do not own 2 of them and everything going well, as long as you do not try to fly them. Edited September 10, 2020 by Vyllis
PatrickAWlson Posted September 10, 2020 Posted September 10, 2020 If the mission file is in the directory (data\missions) but not in the "Missions" section of the game when you start it then it is probably the case that you do not own the plane that you fly. Are you looking on the "Missions" screen in the game? Some people look for PWCG missions on the campaign or career screens. They are in the "Missions" screen.
Mamamango1Chewycat Posted September 10, 2020 Author Posted September 10, 2020 I am at the screen that has the pilot roster on it. I click on the "Mission" notation in upper left corner of the screen. I get the mission details on the "blackboard." I click on the map to check waypoints (I don't make changs). I click on thw mission waypoint notation and it takes me back to the mission details screen. I click on waypoint editor. I get the screen that asks to "Accept Mission" and I click on that. I get a little window that says "generating mission" and a blue rectangle moves across below where it says "Generating binary mission file..." This goes on for a couple of minutes and then the screen containing the pilot roster shows up again. The campaign I created was for Bodenplatte using the P-51D which I "own." Thanks for your time.

Your mission is now created. You have to go to your game, select 'Missions' and then you will find your generated mission with the title of your campaign and the date of the mission.
Mamamango1Chewycat Posted September 10, 2020 Author Posted September 10, 2020 When you say "Go To My Game", I'm already in the game, or so I thought. I can find no screen that says "Missions", only the Pilot Roster screen with the choices in white lettering off to the left side..."Mission", "Lone Wolf Mission", "Combat Report", etc. After the mission generating window goes out I do not know how to navigate to the screen where the "missions" are logged.
Mamamango1Chewycat Posted September 10, 2020 Author Posted September 10, 2020 Okay, sorry. I watched the tutorial again and know that I need to minimize the PWCG screen and then get into the actual game. I did this and under "Missions" my generated mission was not listed. My campaign uses the P-51 which I know I own because I fly it in the game. So I must have done something wrong.
Mamamango1Chewycat Posted September 10, 2020 Author Posted September 10, 2020 I think the problem might have to do with the skins of the plane. Do I need to download the separate skins for the aircraft I fly in the generator? When I get to the screen where I can change the pilot portrait I click on the P-51 photo in the lower left in order to assign it a skin but I get no screen. Additionally, the missions I have generated are all in the game file under data/missions. By the way, the missions I generated are all in the IL2 file under data/missions.

And there are no missions with the name of your campaign and the date of the mission. Something like 'P51 campaign 1944-09-01' or however you named your campaign (pilot's name)? They are not named as PWCG missions. Just the mission name itself. Not downloading the skins shouldn't matter. From what I remember you will get the default skin. But the mission definitely should work.
PatrickAWlson Posted September 11, 2020 Posted September 11, 2020 Using windows file explorer, look in your missions directory. A mission file with your campaign name and date should be there. Run the game. Select "Missions". That same mission with your campaign and date should be flyable. PWCG is a separate program. Pressing "Mission" in PWCG takes you through the flow to generate a mission. The result is the mission file. The game has no idea that PWCG missions are part of a campaign. It thinks they are single missions generated in the Mission Editor, therefore they show up in the Missions screen.
Mamamango1Chewycat Posted September 11, 2020 Author Posted September 11, 2020 I understand what you are saying. Using Windows file explorer I do click on the IL-2 Sturmovik file, then: "data" then "missions"... I click on "missions" and the ones I have created are in there, named as they are when creating them, but they do not appear in the game under "Missions", the ones that ARE there in the game are the ones created by the game makers.
WM_KMS Posted September 11, 2020 Posted September 11, 2020 (edited) I don't understand how to translate the Campaign in PWCG into flyable missions in the game, I've created my Campaign, have my pilots in my group, create a mission but then what? Nothing changes in IL-2 Missions Edited September 11, 2020 by WM_KMS
PatrickAWlson Posted September 11, 2020 Posted September 11, 2020 Start PWCG Go to your campaign Press Mission. Go through the entire briefing process. On the pilot/payload selection screen make sure that you own the plane that your pilot will be flying. Accept the mission on the last page of the briefing process (Pilot/Payload selection screen) Wait for the mission to generate. Usually takes a few minutes. Start BoS Go to the Missions screen The mission will be there if you own the plane that you are flying
WM_KMS Posted September 11, 2020 Posted September 11, 2020 (edited) I'm at the mission blackboard, I see this: Mission: Aircraft Bf 109 G-2 Squadron I./JG51 Airbase Surovikino Date 1.5.1942 Time 09:00:00 Weather Report Mostly clear, some high altitude clouds. Cloud layer is 4342 meters. Wind speed is 1 M/S. Wind direction is 184. Primary Objective Patrol airspace near Zrjaninskij. Engage any enemy aircraft that you encounter. Assigned Pilots: Maj Jens Zimmermann Ltn Sepp Weingartner OFw WM KMS I have on the left "Scrub mission" "Briefing Map" I./JG51 It stays there, is there anything I need to click?I'm not seeing a briefing process, just the above on the chalkboard Edited September 12, 2020 by WM_KMS
Vyllis Posted September 12, 2020 Posted September 12, 2020 (edited) Mission (-> select pilots if you have coop enabled). Once you are in the briefing and done with it you can press briefing map. Play around with navpoints & look for allies flights. Then go through waypoints editor, pilot selection and when are ok with it: press accept mission to generate it. The PWCG will take some time to create the mission so do not close it until you are back into your career main menu. At this point you can minimize or close PWCG, launch the game, find your mission with your career name into the single mission menu and fly it. Enjoy Edited September 12, 2020 by Vyllis
Mamamango1Chewycat Posted September 12, 2020 Author Posted September 12, 2020 I'm having the same issues that WM_KAS is having. It looks like the entire mission creation process needs to be addressed, even if I like the waypoints. When I click on the pilot names assigned I see a dark spot, say, on my pilot. If I click on a different pilot, the dark spot appears there and then comes off of my pilot. I take it that is different from "assigning" pilots?! Still no success even though the created mission appears under "missions" in game file. WM_KAS, have you had any success?

The dark spot means you can use the three actions on the left side for this pilot. 'Move pilot up', Move pilot down' and 'Unassign pilot'. So you can give each of the assigned pilots in your flight another position in the flight or take him out of the flight, if you want to fly with less pilots or if you want to reset him by another pilot of your squadron, who will, when you assign him into your flight, be listed at the last position of the flight and you can move him up to another position.
WM_KMS Posted September 12, 2020 Posted September 12, 2020 Aha! I had to open the waypoint editor then the "Assign Pilots" page then finally the "Accept Mission" option became visible
Mamamango1Chewycat Posted September 12, 2020 Author Posted September 12, 2020 Okay, thank you Yogiflight. And thank you WM_KMS. I think I'm doing everything correctly as the created mission shows up under "missions" in my IL2 Sturmovik file when I use file explorer. The mission just doesn't show up in the game.
PatrickAWlson Posted September 13, 2020 Posted September 13, 2020 @WM_KMS Yes, it's a four page flow. Too much to come close to fitting one one page. @Mamamango1Chewycat Can you zip up the .mission and the .eng file?
Mamamango1Chewycat Posted September 13, 2020 Author Posted September 13, 2020 I probably could but I don't know how. If I can do it, probably I'll ask someone how, what should I do after zipped?
Mamamango1Chewycat Posted September 14, 2020 Author Posted September 14, 2020 I copied the files for the mission: NEWUSAF2020 1944-10-01.zip
