Hi,

 

I have now completed the campaign. I mentioned the missions 6 having a waypoint problem, but I remembered it wrong. It was mission 7 "Fighter sweep" actually where all the friendlies remain circling in the air after dogfight.

 

I also found out that the final mission of the campaign ("Fighter sweep 2") is also having a similar problem. Only this time I cannot complete the mission, because there is no "win" condition even though I landed on home airfield on my own.

 

Also I noticed that none of the missions have any wind speed whatsoever (0 m/s wind in each). That kind of perfect weather is highly unlikely, and I suggest adding light or moderate wind speeds to all of the missions. I also noticed some peculiar engine heating differences between missions, which lead me to think that mission temperatures are not all hand crafted.

 

Still, it's a good campaign with some good ground action missions! Bastogne and Bulge missions were my favorites. The "Bodenplatte mission" of the new year 1945 was also memorable.

 

So here is my proposal for a fix list for next update:

 

1) Check waypoints after the dogfight in mission 7 (fighter sweep)

2) Check waypoints after the dogfight in the final mission (fighter sweep 2). Also add markers for the map briefing.

3) Check wind speeds for all missions. Add wind information for briefings.

4) Check temperatures for all missions. Add temperature information for briefings.

Although I’m sure Gambit21 appreciates your suggestions, you will probably not see additions to briefings in an official scripted campaign. That would require retranslating and republishing in 8 languages.

 

In testing, the friendlies in the fighter sweep mission you refer to returned to base if you waited long enough. I remember returning on my own after running out of ammo and heard the form up call about half way back to base. That’s actually historically correct. You would not hang around a combat area if you are out of ammo.

 

ideally you would have a wingman with you, but that’s an AI issue, not mission design related.

Yes, it is possible for you to make a similar mission and use it as a Coop mission. The mission design is a bit different and has requirements that are not present in a Scripted Campaign mission.

 

To learn how to design and make coop missions, you are going to have to do some research.

Any updates Gambit21 makes will go automatically, correct? Or do we need to DL patches?

Typically, they come automatically with game updates.

I will submit an update Monday to correct mission 7 and 16 RTB,  then the Devs will likely include it with they’re ready to update. Hotfix is a possibility but I can’t say for sure.

@[LeLv34]Lykurgos88 wind state is intentional due to certain AI considerations.

As I have also finished the campaign, except for mission 16, I can say I really enjoyed your campaign Gambit :good:.  As for mission 16 I suppose that I could re- fly it many times and see if we can shoot down all the enemy planes before running out of ammo, or wingmen.:crazy:

Gambit, 

     Finished the campaign and it was great; however, as reported above the two fighter sweep missions seem to have a problem with RTB for the flights, even after all enemy planes are downed.  Keep up the great work.

In coop getting order to take off is dependant on where your nose point. Not far iff to one of the sides and you will not report ready

Oh for f***s sake. Bought this as soon as it was announced and haven't started it it yet - and now it's 25% off. Ok, not big bucks but at least I finished Ice Ring before it was discounted. Hope that it doesn't affect whatever payment you get from it Gambit; I did one mission in Beta and could see that it was worth buying. I think that perhaps Jason has been too hasty to discount these - or don't they sell? The campaigns are an instant buy for me, every time, no matter what aircraft.

Does he really have to worry about FS2020? Chalk and cheese. Yes, folk might be spending more time on the civ sim for a while, but it'll settle down. Go to all the places Covid-19 won't let you - FS2020. Blow stuff up and shoot things down - in 'real' aeroplanes no less, no crappy GPS consoles - then it's Il-2 GB. ?

Haven't flown anything with more than one engine in FS2020, and I'm disappointed if it doesn't boast a mixture control lever.

I almost stalled the engine by not tending the mixture on the152 by climbing to 3k

When you return you will find mission 7 fixed and improved. Turns out an important part of the experience on ingress was “unplugged” and unintentionally eliminated from the mission. Bummed me out when I discovered this as it’s a very cool little “moment” in the scripting that took time to get right - and wasn’t even there. $@%$

 

All in all small mall potatoes but still annoying. In any case this has been fixed on my end and will be submitted to the Team shortly.

Thanks.  Looking forward to re-flying.  As LuseKofte stated hoping you get some compensation, however I don't believe it will be enough, you put many hours into this campaign.  Again thank you.

I started a play through series of videos on this campaign over at the AirWolves YouTube channel. I've only just started but I have to say that the custom radio calls are brilliant when it comes to adding immersion. I can't wait to see what comes next!!

Quick note - I love CutCut’s responses to Elwood Leads’ calls, (I really do) but they’re his little additions for the video and not included in the campaign. 

 

There is back and forth chatter in the campaign, but not from the player AC.

Just FYI.

I had to hop on here and say, that from what I've enjoyed of this campaign so far; This one raises the bar with the custom callouts, it really changes things. It becomes much more of an experience. Just top notch, y'all!

Really love the immersion and the brillant radio calls.

Even for some details just like encounter with bogeys that don't change the mission, it's really nice to have these calls.

 

I didn't had much time playing that campaign so far, but I really enjoy seeing Hell Hawks in the air!!!

My results for "Hell hawks". Using "Realistic" settings except for object names, which helped a lot.

Massive crash on runway at start of mission 3.  We spawn in and planes are running each other over.  Pretty funny really.  Guess I'll put running any more on hold till fixes happen next patch time.

Does this happen when you reboot the mission?

I have finished the campaign and no problems on any missions,the last mission I have played twice but no success as did not shot all the planes down,( with my bad shooting I run out of ammo)

I look forward very much to any future projects you do

the New Years mission is the best and a good mission to test my different effect mods?

Thanks Gambit21 for the incredible effort you have put into this campaign. It has all the ingredients that bring the game world to life:

 

Interesting weather conditions.

Packed airfields.

Lots of vehicles moving about.

Lots of aircraft in the skies going about their business.

A hugely active ground war.

Best of all the immersive chatter of fellow pilots on the R/T.

Screen shot wouldn’t serve any purpose - I know what crashed planes look like.

Most likely you did something you’re not supposed to - like moved forward before your turn. It’s set up with check-zone triggers.

I had this happen ONLY when I started the mission with the power above Idle.

Kids...ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS make sure your throttle is at idle power BEFORE your spawn in. Just saying while awaiting my transfer to the military prison at Fort Leavenworth, I anticipate an award from Herr Hitler for my 14 confirmed P-47s destroyed without firing a shot.

Ramping on the Runway - realise you are last in order and wait for the other planes to form up on the runway first then follow - then you should avoid any crashing.

 

Not clear in mission briefs where you are in the flight and you spawn in the front when parked but you just have to wait. ?

If you make the mistake of pulling out before your turn the first time you see this, (mission 2) you get a sharp tongue-lashing from another member of your flight. After this mission one way or the other you know how it works. :)
