Hi,

 

After this patch I'm having issues with the Tomahawk where gun sounds seem to randomly not play, or play erratically (sometimes the sounds for only the right wing guns play, or sometimes only the ones on the left). I've got in-game sound at 100% and did not have any sound issues prior to this patch.

 

EDIT: Just tested a few more planes in Quick Missions and they all have the same gunfire sound cutoff issue, so seems like it's a problem with sounds in general and not just the tomahawk.

Just installed the updating patch, having issue in sound effect for all the cannons. In external view I can hear the cannon firing, but in cockpit I can only hear machine guns.

 

I notice all the cannons suffer from a serious sound volume reduction. The volume is way lower than machine guns in the cockpit. Also having some machine gun sound playing issue as reported by Dirtbag above.

I am not getting problems with sound, but with video after the patch. As if the textures and models were huge and would take forever to load. It was not like this this afternoon before the patch. Tried clearing clache and restarting the PC. Nothing.

 

When I select any quick mission the loading screen does not show the loading bar. It takes about 20 - 30 seconds for the briefing to load. Or I just alt+tab and come back and there it is.

Then if I click loadout, the models don't show. Sometimes even the black background won't show. If I try to move the model it doesn't move immediatly. Only after some 10 seconds or alt+tabbing.

When I start the mission the textures don't load immediatly. Sometimes some parts of the 3d model don't load either. I then need to alt+tab for it to "refresh" and it is all there. But the game was running, so the plane is diving, even if the screen was frozen before.

Then the only external view that works is F3. F2 doesn't, for example. Only if I "refresh" it by alt+tabbing. Than if I click F1 the camera doesn't return to the cockpit. Again, only after alt+tab.

 

And this goes on. If I leave the mission running for a while it sometimes works itself out apparently.

 

Opening the video options menu takes some 5 seconds. I don't remember it taking any longer than a short moment.

 

Game itself isn't frozen. Just the video output.

 

Problem occurs in full or pseudo. Resolution ist 2560x1440 and pseudo full screen.

 

Il-2 Great Battles and other games work without problems.

Yup, but didn't work.

I posted a reference to my post in the bug thread so we don't clog it up here with trouble shooting. I am still trying to find out why this is happening. Thanks anyways!

Why not set for 80/85% (of pitch)? Will prevent that players blow up engines in air start missions, and complains about "fragile engines".

Now that this patch is out can we get a fix in next patch for the retricted lean to gunsight?

 

Another thing is when your selecting a plane to fly you have to put mouse pointer over scroll bar in order to be able to use mouse wheel to scroll.If possible make the area where mouse pointer activates scroll wheel the whole box instead of over just the scroll bar.

Please open your 'Documents/1C SoftClub/il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover' folder and delete the cache file.

 

Then test to see if the issues persist.

I found if  loaded audio settings clicking apply it fixed it  for a few seconds than is goes again, silent guns

that was a quick mission , i changed plane to tomahawk over tobruk , not yet tested further, but its easy to replicate

Deleting the cache file won't solve the sound bug.... we know that is a bug and we are working to fix it.

 

Deleting the cache was for JHat and his visual anomalies.

Hi @Buzzsaw, thanks for the suggestion. That was the first thing I did, but didn‘t help. Also other from Spiritus didn‘t help.

I posted the solution I found under the bugs thread. It seems the game won‘t accept anything higher than 60 Hz for refresh rate on my machine. Resolution didn‘t matter.
With 60 Hz refresh rate selected in game (down from 144 Hz before the patch) it is working again without problems.
If you are interested in going further into this issue I had, just PM me. Otherwise the way it is now works for me.

Please copy the crash report for the time period when you were having the refresh rate related crashes and post it here or send me a PM>.

And the log from my last forced crash at 22:06. It doesn't show the crash, but you can see the mission load times before, running 144 Hz and with the screen freezing for some 10 - 20 seconds. Even if it didn't crash.

Hi @69thSpiritus. Dealing with the above, I deleted my airfields folder back in the month of August last Summer and since the 5.002 update I have the correct files in the folder that is currently being used by the game. Before I deleted the older version of the folder I created a security backup elsewhere in my computer... should I delete the backup too? if it is completely useless to keep the backup I'll delete it for sure.

 

Please allow me to ask you one more question: do you think that this "flying ships" bug that some players see in the TF#3 online server could be caused because they didn't delete the former version of their airfields folder ? Airfields and ships are not necessarily related elements in the game, but there are so many airfields close to the Tobruk  harbour that... well, you know, I was only wondering.

If you need the space, no need to keep it. If you have the space, I always keep things if possible. 

 

Regarding the ships, no this issue has always been occasionally present with online play and the ships.

Thank you for your kind and faster-than-light response, Spiritus, I need the space and I think I'll delete this.

 

Regarding the ships, I'm compiling as much information I can so that I can create a relyable bug report in the Bug Tracker. What do we know about that? Is the Tobruk harbour the only place where this bug happens? is this happening in only one server or in all servers? is this happening in all online dogfight missions or in only one dogfight mission? in co-ops as well? etc.
