Arengada Posted August 8, 2020 Posted August 8, 2020 After this update the game stutters every 4-5 seconds then runs buttersmooth for a few seconds more and freezes again, runs for a while, freezes again etc. I've tried the win7 option that appears in the manual eventhough I run on Win10 to no avail. The annoying thing is that in few seconds where there is no freezing, the game is super smooth. I can run IL2 Great Battles at maximum settings with no problems whatsoever so this should run great aswell (it did run great before). 2
Team Fusion Buzzsaw Posted August 9, 2020 Team Fusion Posted August 9, 2020 Did you delete your cache file in Documents/1C SoftClub/il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover/? Otherwise, I would suggest verifying your install. The fact it is occurring every few seconds suggests there is a program running which is affecting the game. I would check in Task Manager, (Ctrl Alt Delete) to see what programs are running when your game is running.
Gruber-H Posted August 9, 2020 Posted August 9, 2020 (edited) Arengada I suffer from exactly these isues. W10, Gtx1080, 9700K on SSD's. Been trying for a few days to figure it out. No background tasks, CPU utilization at 5-10% before the game running, no bloatware (new PC build). It's so odd it hickups for a second or two. I wounder if it could be sound related. Buzzsaw I also deleted my cache file yielding no change, as well as verfied the integrity of the steam files. Not sure if it helps, but at 4k res if I dont look a the ground the game is 60+ frames. If I look at the horizion or below its sub 30. At 2k res I suffer from above mentioned perfomance, which doesnt make sense. Edited August 9, 2020 by Maple
ATAG_Ezzie Posted August 9, 2020 Posted August 9, 2020 Could be a long shot but maybe experiment with the anti-epilepsy option? During beta i had an issue where my prop would freeze frame on a regular basis (maybe every 30-45 sec) and the props on all the aircraft in the formation would do likewise. This was on a new build (Feb 2020) reasonably high end PC and i had been having it on my previous Feb 2014 build PC. Like you say - butter smooth in between stutters I tried a bunch of stuff and changing the anti-epilepsy setting seemed to have fixed it. But i cant be sure this was cause and effect as i did fiddle with other stuff including my Win10 power management settings around the same time which may have been the fix. I know next to nothing about 'puters so this is the limit of my tech help. Maybe give it a go just in case and see if it makes a difference. Apologies for the bum steer if it didnt work Hope you get it sorted Ezzie
Gruber-H Posted August 9, 2020 Posted August 9, 2020 (edited) Thanks Ezzie I'll give it a try. I don't think I would never have tried putting that filter on haha Now that I think of it, I also saw prop freeze frames too. Fingers crossed this works for me. I do have my power plan at Ultimate Performance, so I can rule that one out. I remember back in the pre-blitz there was some tricks to remove stutters like: updating Microsoft. NET Framework 4 Client Profile and running "PROGRAM FILES X86/ Steamapps/common/il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover/redist/DirectX/". Im also not one with 'puters so no worries there. I'm hoping it works, the dogfights iv had so far in the Kittyhawk put a grin on (it's nice to not have a fat P40...not to throw daggers at our il2:GB P40 cousin haha). Now just gotta get home from work first. Maple Edited August 9, 2020 by Maple
OBT-Mikmak Posted August 9, 2020 Posted August 9, 2020 Have you tried the "full screen" graphical option set to "pseudo" instead of "full screen" ?

Arengada Posted August 9, 2020 Author Posted August 9, 2020 Thanks for the replies guys. I've tried deleting the cache, adding the game to my antivirus exceptions, the anti epilepsy filter, chaning from full screen to pseudo, lowering my graphical settings... all to no avail sadly really weird
Gruber-H Posted August 15, 2020 Posted August 15, 2020 Arengada, any luck finding a solution? I'm also in the same boat. I'v done exactly what you've done with no success too. I'v also tried running in Windows 7 compatibility mode.
ATAG_Ezzie Posted August 15, 2020 Posted August 15, 2020 Sorry to hear you are still having issues. Just in case you havent checked out this thread there may be some additional things to try in here - sorry if you've 'been there done that' already https://theairtacticalassaultgroup.com/forum/showthread.php?t=6792&p=350624#post350624
Team Fusion Buzzsaw Posted August 15, 2020 Team Fusion Posted August 15, 2020 Hello Guys This may be related to the refresh rate on your monitor. Some people who have the refresh rate set to higher than 60 hz are experiencing stutters or crashes. We are looking at this issue, but in the meantime, recommend people experiencing these issues try reducing the refresh rate.
Gruber-H Posted August 16, 2020 Posted August 16, 2020 (edited) Folks I think I found a solution. I rolled back my Nvidia drivers to 436.48 FROM 451.67; I figured this out when I fired up DCS World after a while away. It too was a stutter fest. 436.48 also eliminated my MIG-21 radar bugs too (if you're tracking that). Initial tests prove to solve my micro stutter issue. I owe this to this fella. I suppose the newest Nvidia driver optimizes the 2XXX series cards. EDIT: further testing, the reverted Nvidia audio drivers that come with the package solved my sound problem of guns fading out (unless this was patched). So far VERY pleased. Cheers, Maple Edited August 16, 2020 by Maple
Arengada Posted August 16, 2020 Author Posted August 16, 2020 Thank you so much Maple for the suggestion but I think I won't try reverting drivers since all my other games run perfectly and wouldn't want messing those up. I haven't found a solution yet and I've tried and locked my monitor to 60fps in game and using the nvidia control panel aswell. I've checked that it's indeed locked at 60fps but the problem is still there. Also tried at 30 fps as zg76_ ezzie suggested in his link. I'll wait until there's a fix
ITA-SUP-Bigans Posted August 29, 2020 Posted August 29, 2020 (edited) I followed all your indication exept fps limiter, but I tryed to limitate 3D in nvdia panel to 30 FPS, with no success! This bug happens only with IL 2 Cliffs of Dover! Every time an Update is out! If I play IL 2 1946, IL 2 Great Battles, DCS these Audio Video freezes don't appear. As you can see the 3D of my GPU is not a regular line (even if 2 movies are not sincronized) while in other sim is a regular line with same percentage of employment. The solution I tryed in previous occasion is recharge Windows 10 by disc and this hurt me a lot! Last I will try to erase nvidia driver and charge 436.48 I found on the net, but in case it will work, anyway this will be not the real solution of the problem, we can't charge drivers from march 2019... Actually this what I see: Edited September 16, 2020 by ITA-SUP-Bigans

It solved my problems of weird 3D render behavior and crashes. It was not the same problems you are having, but maybe if you try that it works out for you? 1
LLv34_Flanker Posted August 29, 2020 Posted August 29, 2020 S! I have to use Windows 7 compatability on Launcher64.exe or otherwise joining a MP server takes ages, the load time from pressing Create to actually get into cockpit also takes a while. Also use of meny is slow, input indicators movee choppily and when mapping a key it takes several presses or a long time to register. But with compatability mode no issues and I also clear Cache now and then. 1 1
ITA-SUP-Bigans Posted August 30, 2020 Posted August 30, 2020 I erased nvidia last driver and charge an old one the 390.xx and now it works! 1
