Just in case we are allowed to start one......here goes:

 

Vanishing effects, vanishing water, ship floating on sand, Pier floating in air - Single Mission "Low Level Attack on the Port of Tobruk" :

Yes, confirmed for me too - Single Mission "Low Level Attack on the Port of Tobruk" : the lighting doesn't look right at all, and I am too finding the explosions (and light off of them) momentarily making the water in that port disappear (making it look like the ships are on sand).

If you place ships on the land, or on the borders of land and sea, you will get the situation with above ship.

 

We have always said the night environment is not complete, it was not a focus for this module and we did not promise any updates.  We hope to improve that in the future.

 

We will look at the land involved in the truck situation.

 

If you are really interested in helping you will provide the map coordinates... our guys have fixed hundreds of similar anomalies during the map creation.

Hi Buzzsaw. The missing map is at the very start of the "Attack on Derna" Mission. The trucks, shipping and pier can be found by pressing Ctrl+F2 or using the mouse to select the objects from the interface. These are all in the supplied missions with Tobruk, no custom missions have been created. Cheers, Mysticpuma

The ship is then a mission builder's error... or an intentionally grounded ship.

 

Some mission builders like the idea they can place beached ships.

 

Re. the Trucks... will bring that to the mission builders attention.

The disappearing effects shown your video are caused by the sheer number of bombs being dropped into the water in very quick succession. Basically when a bomb explodes in the water the game generates many "water bullet impact" effects around the explosion to simulate shrapnel flying around. When many bombers drop many bombs in very quick succession such that they all land at about the same time, the game just generates WAY too many of these water bullet impact effects and it pushes the particle system over the limit. This is something we're looking at.

That last sentence sums it up really. What an attitude. "...really interested in helping..." Don't get me wrong, I know the history behind you two and I have some experience of dealing with you too, but that's just utterly wrong headed to talk to paying customers like that. Do you take your car into the garage and point out the issues to the mechanic? Walk into the kitchen and tell the chef how to make your meal?

 

Besides, reporting bugs is demonstrably a waste of time when they don't get addressed anyway. I've just finished going through my bugs raised about the channel map 3 years ago. Half have not been done including trivial ones.

Hello guys, Fuel mixture in american planes is not working as intended. The flight should be done in Auto-rich. Full-rich is an emergency thing. Also, can't move the lever and put it in the desired setting.

Another one, it's not possible to select any of the new content planes on the channel map using the quick mission GUI.

Not during the Summer channel map.

 

But it is possible if you pick the Winter channel map.

Though the only option there is a dogfight.

Not really an in-game bug but for some reason all the aircraft manuals have disappeared from the games directory for me (was there yesterday), and now I'm unsure of how to start up or operate most of the new aircraft.

 

If someone could help resolve this issue, or upload the Aircraft Flashcards/Manual file in English to something like mediafire, that would be greatly appreciated!

I am prepared .. set logging to active ..... jus' eagerly waiting for some more updating.

 

Just tried a bombing (default mission) run with a He111.

Black spots on the ground, not as impressive as IL2, but a ship hit shows promises as it needs more bomb runs to sink and stop shooting ..........

Audio issues posted here: 

 

I also had a Spit Vb HF crash and spin indefinitely (old bug from Cliffs?)

A few of the buildings 'float' slightly... so the map could do with some tweaking (but not as much as is needed for the Channel map).

One aircraft didn't start with the gunsight turned on (I'll try to find which one - I forgot)!

 

Overall pretty bug free for me - except for the sound issues!

Just trying to login to Multiplayer server and screen sort of freezes. I can see people chatting but can't click on anything. Was OK last night.

If you're referring to the TF server I think it had an issue. Those in the server couldn't see each other.

MP, regarding your map issue, that isn't an issue, Derna is at the far most edge of the map. That is the end of the map that you are seeing. 

 

Regarding areas to look at, please just post the coordinates where you see the errors, this will be faster for our map people to find. 

 

Regarding the manuals, they were pulled to make a few updates that we needed to do based on other changes. Will be back shortly. 

 

@No.54_Reddog Regarding the issue in quick missions, it isn't a bug, it was the only way we could do it at the moment. Artist apologized for the confusion that it creates in another thread and we are trying to figure out a solution to it.

I edited your post. Please keep it civil and if you don't have a bug report, than don't cloud up this forum with your thoughts/opinions. People are posting bug finds here and we are responding to them, just like any other software developer. We'd rather not have to scroll through comments that have nothing to do with what this forum is for (see title).

I hold the opposite view.  A massive amount of work has been done and all in all I am impressed with what the team has achieved and their commitment.

Coordinating a group of people on what I suspect is quite a complex task always leads to unexpected issues and I think the number of bugs reported to-date is relatively modest.

 

I always expected the first 3 - 6 months to be bug fix time.

 

I say this as a sometime programmer.

If I restart CLOD the error will repeat.

If I go into Task Manager and first kill off Steam and then restart CLOD, it works Ok.

Hi Spiritus! Having engaged in intensive online fighting this weekend on Desert Wings, game experience is top-notch, but there's still some minor issues & confusions.

 

The Bf109F-4's engine performance is different to which is described in the flashcards, the auto prop pitch system works really weird. On 1.15 ata (which is cruising power setting) it directly pushes the rpm to 2500, which is the threshold for combat power. This puts the water cooling system on the edge of overheating even on cruising. According to the flashcard I suppose the rpm should be at 2300 and  it is also the case in GB series.

 

Also the 109F's ammo counter needs some care too, it doesn't show ammo storage above 100 rounds properly, I think someone has posted that in General Discussion.

 

Secondly I suggest more detailed engine management content and navigation aid in flashcards. We have little info on aircraft's combat power set and time limit now since there's only take-off, climbing and emergency power set on flahcards. Also we need to know what is the local magnetic declination in North Africa region to set our compass correctly. 

 

Finally for the issue already raised on airfield visibility, I suggest to tune other part of the desert darker, so the airstrip area can be brighter and can be observed with ease from the air.

There are a few things that I have issues with, otherwise the sim runs flawlessly. No stutter or crashes etc. It just works. But here goes..

 

1. Sounds. They worked fine in 4.57. Now I can not hear idle of engines, for example in Bf110. The engine sound kicks in when you increase throttle. Also the transition from sound to another is"sharp", not as smooth as in 4.57. In external flyby view easiest to hear when sound changes so abruptly and suddenly all silent. Need to check if it is plane dependent, but at least 109 and 110 have this issue. Hurricane was smoother. Also get crackling/popping sounds sometimes, but this was already in 4.57 so propably system related.

 

2. Buildings popping in to view very late. I do not expect to see them from across the map, but now they do pop in very late. This can be one reason why on desert so easy to miss a field because buildings do not show at all from distance. As of airstrip visibility, they were areas cleared on sand/gravel so I do not expect to see "runways". An option would be to put the white "landing crosses" at end of "runways" to easier ID the landing area. The yellow markers propably weren´t that commonly used if ever in the desert?

 

3. Have to run the sim in Windows 7 Compatability mode to avoid sluggish menus, slow joining to servers and long loading times into the cockpit. With W7 mode all is fast and snappy.

 

4. Any info on the AA modes? Would help in tweaking for best image quality vs performance.

Hi all, these are some things me and other players flying with me noticed online in the last couple of days of online play (some 6 hr)

 

1 - Bf 109E-7, tested online in Tobruk map:

   1.1 - toe brakes animation not working (braking works fine)

   1.2 - bombs fuse selector behind stick not clickable (key-bind works fine)
 

2 - Bf 109F-4/Z, tested online in both maps:

   2.1 - GM-1 manometer not showing any change in pressure, staying at 0 but still running out after about 5 minutes

 

3 - Bf 109F-4, tested online in Tobruk map:

   3.1 - when belly landed and weapons are fired, its sound will play for half a second and then stop, even of guns continue to fire.

 

4. - Panzerplatte in the German cockpits:

   4.1 - Freetrack let one of the players clip through it and look behind it

 

- Some other things which are not necessarily a bug, but I couldn‘t find an explanation for nor was expecting:

 

With SMAA set to ultra and flying over Tobruk city / airfield area with heavy flak brought the game from over 120 fps to unbearable 25 fps. Video card is an RTX 2080.

 

German plane flying with puffs of cloud being left behind them. As if a huge cannon were firing intermittently while the plane flies. Not trail smoke, not tracer smoke, but grey puffs with around twice the plane’s height in size, looking very similar to clouds. Bf 109F from what I saw.

 

Trop Bf 109F Trop version have no bombs nor external tanks

- And some points for improvement:

 

Blocky edges on the coastline to the east of the map, near the map’s edge and pixelated (lower quality) ground textures mostly everywhere else other than cities (I know, 4k textures are in the plans)

Buildings popping in too late.

Low quality textures for player‘s airplane from the cockpit (I hope 4k textures are planned here too)

No M-Geschoß loaded as per default on new German planes (can be hard for new players to even think about adding them and they end up with a less effective loadout, maybe leading to unnecessary frustration)


An overhaul of the GUI and some basic UI elements like the customizable info windows would have been nice to minimize the hurdle for new players or for those who don‘t have the patience to configure things themselves at this level of customization.

 

There is also too much one needs to know to navigate through all the small details and and particularities of the game. Where to set this, change that, how to spawn in MP and many other things. 
Many players expect things to just work or be self explanatory at first glance. Learning to fly in a combat sim is a challenge on its own. 

My impression is that most new players will quickly get frustrated with many little things and move on after a short time.

I have problems setting up (assigning)  keys. It does not work. Even though I save and apply. Tried several times. I mean the airplane does not respond to the assigned key/command. Also people reporting not saving the changes. Please check this.

Anyone with same issues?

Bf109F ammo counter for MG151 starts at 100 and moves to 0 although 200 rounds are fired.  My understanding is that it should cycle through 2 x 100 as it does in IL2:GB.

That's a cache issue the floating canopies, usually caused by changing resolution from 4k to any other resolution. 

Go into My documents, 1C Softclub, navigate to the cache folder and delete the contents. That will solve the floating canopy.

For MG151/15mm you are correct, it has 200 rounds... we will fix this at some point.

The Bf108 seems to missing the in cockpit engine sound.  All I can hear is the wind noise and a very faint prop sound.  It a pity because the external engine sound is rather nice.

Is your In Game sound turned up to 100%?

 

Often sounds will go missing if this is not the case.

 

Turn In Game to 100% and then adjust your headphone or speaker volume with the Windows Mixer.

As reported by my teammate the sand filter lever is reversed in the 202.

I'll post it here in order to have it on the bug list.

Does the bugtracker still work? Would be still possible to add a ticket there?

Cant bail out of a Wellington, is there something else we need to do apart from opening the hatch and hitting the bail out button ? a couple of other TWC guys have reported to me the same bug, I'm not sure what height they were at but I was at 3000ft, is there a minimum height requirement ?

Hatch jettison 2 times then bail out. Tech chat will say jettison off, then jettison on when the hatch goes.

For me - E7 and E4 Trop - cannot open canopy/door - cannot bail out.

Apologies - my bad - disregard above.

 

I tried a 110 Trop and the canopy and bailout works okay for it.
