Yes, such a situation is very disconcerting and ruins any realistic line of sight restrictions.

 

But please remember that IL2 maps were made for a flight simulator not for ground combat. Terrain height variations, as such, were not much of a consideration at all. With the addition of Tank Crew the situation muddied the water. With the exception of the Proklovoka map (and just part of it) the maps are relatively flat and the terrain doesn't block fire or unit sighting.

 

Knowing this doesn't help the situation, I know. Hopefully the developers will create and provide us some decent maps with the desired ground combat environments. I sure hope so.

 

Maybe a special one for "The Battle Of The Bulge".  Hope springs eternal. :coffee:

Dont remember that if Prokorovka has been made specifically for TC , the others maps have been made "usuable" for TC too and are sold !!  

 

So , no excuse to IL2 staff and developpers in my opinion !

Firstly, the prior maps were not made usable for TC. They always were usable but they do not have the qualities of the Prokorovka map which was created for better TC usage.

Although I like the Golubino, it provides very few tactical opportunities and therefore gets bored very quickly. The battle pattern does not change from mission to mission. Maybe on this map it is worth looking for a more suitable area of action?

 

I also find it a good idea to change seasons on existing maps. As in Cologne for example. I would play on the Kornilova map in summer or autumn :happy:

Golubino's explore one of the smallest and most fun maps to play TC, Lapino. I only played it with Panzer III and IV, was fun.
I think airfields could be 505.4 for the Allies and 101.3 for the Germans in the map. Add KV for the Reds, KV, Sherman and T-34 vs Pz3 and 4, is fine!!!!
I like AAS. Another personal opinion is regarding AI, it could be restricted or removed, especially AI of airplanes.

I agree with the tank set made specifically for Golubino : It is  a good choice to change battle tanks with the heavies  out !

 

But I still believe the map is not the best for this tank set  !

 

There is a plateau  where the german are  starting from  and russian are mainly down , close to the river  !  As I already said , the 75 mm from a Panther / Pz will remain  deadly at mid/long range  than the 76.2 of the KV / T-34 ...  Add the AI tank such as PZz 3/4  that need most of time several hits in order to be out  if you shoot therm in front , the map make a very boring game  !

server is down because my f..ing server provider is buggy as hell and did not  validate my credit card after one month of trials. And now, they
shut down the server because I did not pay ?

it should be back up. They finally accepted to be paid for their poor service and restarted the server :biggrin:

Unfortunately there are these invisible trees on all maps, sometimes more sometimes less - as Prokhorovka.

It is still annoying that the developers do not take care of this problem and sell products (such as TC) that are only playable to a limited extent.

Kornilova is the only winter mission, so it should be kept in my opinion.

On the Yuzhnaya map, some of the spawn points have been relocated to the hills and forests, which now also provokes constant collisions with invisible trees. This is a pity.

Perhaps too much attention has now been paid to hiding the spawn points?

The "artificial cities" created for protection around these areas unfortunately disturb the beautiful atmosphere of the original landscapes a bit.

Golubino is interesting for me because on the German side you are forced to pay tribute to the workhorses of the Second World War Pz III and Pz IV.

Pz III is better than I thought ?

Overall, the missions are a great asset for us TC players, even if the AI pilots still have a deadly accuracy that sometimes completely undermines realistic gaming.

Agrre with you , Fritz , about the invios objects on maps  and the spawn points that have been moved away ! 

 

But I doubt anything will be done about the invisi objects !!  

 

About this problem and spawn points 

 

Kornilmova (the best place for invisibles objects ) :

 

Tank 2 allies 1  => just 3 invisbles objects around  the spawn / close  ! 5mn to run 250m with engine repair each time..

Tank3 allies 1 =>  Less than 50m around the spawn there are 2 invisbles objects ... 

 

Map are created without any test ? or are we the testers when playing ?? 

 

According golubino , sorry but fot me the worse map of all existing in IL 2GB /TC ..

Golubino (again & again ) ..

 

It is easy to destroy the bridge where an allies spawn is placed on the over side of the river !!

 

- golubino , the only map where you can suppress a spawn ..lol

 

 bt there is a very good thing about golubino : it help leaving the game , doing something else at home !! ?

This server was so much fun. I played last weekend and had a blast. I think its the best server for tank action. I went to find the server just now and its not up. Highly recommend 

 

Also leave the AI in. Made it more lively and fun IMO. What all other servers ive checked out were missing

To day at .... golubino... again !

 

 

 

12 AI sherman stucked firing at an undestructible  german fuel  truck !!  AI Sherman dont go forward  !!  why so much AI  for nothing ?

 

REMOVE GOLUBINO !!!

 

As this will probably never be made , other option dont make Kornilova map followed by Golubino  !  

 

Ok pour Kornilova mais ne met pas Golubino à suivre !!    possible de separer ces 2 cartes pas sympas par quelques autres ?

Me , again....

 

Played this afternoon  with Kornilova , followed by golubino(la daube)  ! ?

 

Played this evening and , once again , teams unbalanced (as usual ) :Why dont you place some advice in the server tchat asking for new players to balance teams ???????????????????

 

=> cant you place a message in the tchat asking for new players joining to balance teams ??  I play on the Finish server  and rules are readable & understandable !   there is not the same balancing probleme known as  in AAA room !

 

 

Also , you placed spawns far & far away  and on some difficults places for moving the tanks  !     

 

AI tanks : too much tanks at same time with  short frequencies of spawning

 

 

je sais , ça ne changera pas , mes remarques n'appelant aucun retour ou presque  !

 

 

Je ne suis pas seul a trouver que AAA a changé depuis quelques mois avec ces modifications !  : c'etait plus marrant avant que cela ne tourne au  jeu d'arcade ! 

 

 Trouvez-vous un admin qui passera regulièrement sur  votre serveur , histoire de faire un peu de police par sa présence : AAA est doucement en train de devenir un endroit nerveux  !!     

 

Les joueurs font d'un serveur sa reputation de serveur agreable  et sympa !

Question for Super Truite.

 

Does AAS allow for players to use low graphics options?  Or is everyone playing with the same graphic quality?  In particular I'm interested to know if pilots have the ability to minimize graphics in order to better see tanks under the trees.  If so, is this an option that can be turned off in the server settings?  Or is it something that can not be manipulated?

we can not compare these two servers too much (AAS and Finnish), the two are different in their approach (the first more action and the second more realistic), but above all one is essentially a char server and the other a server plane mainly ... it is very rare to see more than 1/8 of the population in tanks ... but if we look at the tanks on the Finnish, there are the same balancing problems ...

 

for the question of graphics, I don't think the server can manage the graphics of the users: the game restarts with each modification (a plague when you want to optimize your graphics ....) and I recently changed my graphics and have seen the difference on the server ... but it is true that some manipulation helps, like removing the grass ...

No unfortunately, I cannot limit graphical options server side. I tried the other day to play with no grass because I felt that some players were seeing me a bit too "easily" and indeed it changes a lot, but I reverted back to full grass quality because the game is ugly without it. This is a problem the devs should solve. In Arma for instance they use this strategy: if a player is under grass and if for some reason the grass cannot be rendered (low graphic settings or far distance) they hide the part of the player that is supposed to be hidden which does not cost any resources or really few.

As for balance, we discussed this on discord. I will try to activate autobalance when I am around on week-ends to see how it goes. But bear in mind that it tends to deplete the number of players (I have this experience on other games and I read on the forum that it happens as well in IL2) ... and unfortunately there is not a lot of players playing AAS.

Yes (I can ) !..

 

- we can compare as the 2 games are from ...IL2 GB !! 

 

And :

 

 

- I dont mean a 100% balanced teams !   just less unbalanced as usual ... only asking  players joining the game to balance teams as possible in adding a written advice  ! 

 

This is written in the Finnish room !

 

Players will do balancing , or not !... but it's written !    ( Remember  it's not mandatory , just an advice !...)

 

And no :

 

it's not as much unbalanced in the Finnish server as it is in AAS (Tanks players) !

 

 

My own view of these 2 servers ! 

 

 

Anyway ,do it or not , it s just a game ! I'll try to forget the concept of balancing when joining , going the side I want , even if 10 v 1 !

 

The most important : Golubino ... long time to wait for the sea to flood this area after the climate changing !!  ?

Mmmmh ... in that sense, we can compare a PzIV and an IL2 then, since it's in IL2 Sturmovik? nah ... the servers are too different in too many ways to compare, seriously ... the rules (explicit and implicit) are different, the spawn is different, the gameplay objective is different, the gameplay is different. .. without wanting to be insulting, it would be like comparing il 2 TC and War Thunder (by magnifying the line a little). Ultimately, AAS would be more comparable with the Full Action Tank server ...

With the release of the Churchill, I would like to make mission with only sherman + churchill in western front setups, on the Bodenplatte or Normandy map.
What is your opinion ? Will people leave because there is no t34 or 152s ?

If the stug is faster than the panzer 4 then the number of panthers and tigers can be limited. The main issue with the panzer 4 being the off road speed.

 

It's actually slower. No one is going to play it.

Hello Super T.  I played AAS a little more than usual the other day since Finnish was slow to upload the new Cloud Patch.  I enjoyed it.  I did notice however that pilots still use the edges of the Render Zone to be able to ID tanks on the ground from great distances.  I know this is a limitation of the game, and there's nothing I think that can be done about it on any server.  My question is - can you come up with a "Tanks Only" version of your game?  Even if it was just for a few maps.  Or some of the maps could featured very low, thick cloud cover which would make spotting outside the render zone more difficult.  Thanks

The weather is random now, so you will have really low clouds some times. As for making a tank only server, I wanted to do that but we are not enough playing TC I think. People go to a server only when there are enough players on it. If I remove planes, some people will leave, hence reducing the number of player, hence reducing the attractivness of the server on the lobby... Same issue with autobalance: if I set it on, it is likely that some geman only players will leave, hence reducing the number of players etc. ?. So It's complicated. My idea was to begin experimenting wirh new options like tank-only when we reach a stable 30 players connected during the evenings, europe time, during the week.
