352nd_Siqhter Posted July 13, 2020 Posted July 13, 2020 (edited) I've never made a skin this soon after the release of the template, so I figured I'd just make a new post. This is 'Snafu' of the 83rd FS, 78th FG as flown by Lt. Severino B. Calderon. Two and a half victories. On 30 December, 1943, Capt. Dilling bellied the aircraft into a field in Northern France and Queen City Mama was supposedly repainted with German markings. 352nd_Siqhter Posted July 14, 2020 Author Posted July 14, 2020 (edited) Here's another one gents, 'Touch of Texas' as flown by Capt. Charles Mohrle of 510 FS, 405 FG. After June 6th, 1944 the 405th flew missions in support of General George S. Patton's Third Army. Capt. Mohrle finished the war with 97 combat missions, a Distinguished Flying Cross, and an Air Medal with 16 oak clusters. Siqhter EDIT - Fixed a misspelling of the asst. crew chief's name. Yardstick Posted July 14, 2020 Posted July 14, 2020 (edited) Very minor point of detail - but I believe Charles Mohrle's Assistant Crew Chief was Sgt. J. A. Lacavetta not Helvetta. It's difficult to make out but I think that is the correct spelling looking at his later bubbletop 'The Touch of Texas'. Edited July 14, 2020 by Yardstick typo

352nd_Siqhter Posted July 15, 2020 Author Posted July 15, 2020 (edited) This Razorback was flown by one of the more colorful fighter pilots of the war, Capt. George E. Preddy. "Cripes A'Mighty" was the iconic name that adorned the classic blue nose Mustang flown by the 352nd Fighter Group, but less known is the group's P-47 career. Capt. Preddy was a flight leader in the 487th FS at this time and achieved 3 victories while flying P-47Ds. He was sadly shot down and killed on Christmas Day, 1944. Pierre64 Posted July 17, 2020 Posted July 17, 2020 @352nd_Siqhter : according to 368thfightergroup.com, Miss Second Front’s crew chief was John Dombos. (And its serial number could be 42-75329... s/n 42-75325, another D-11-RE, was named "Mississipi Rebel). 1 3

352nd_Siqhter Posted July 18, 2020 Author Posted July 18, 2020 (edited) P-47D Razorback 'Okie' was flown by Lt. Quince L. Brown of the 84th FS, 78th FG. The colors of this aircraft are in the configuration of a late 1943 'Okie', boasting 4 victories. Several months later, in March of 1944, Brown would become the first Eighth Air Force pilot to achieve 4 kills in a single mission. He eventually took delivery of a new P-47 he called 'Okie II' and was shot down on 6 September, 1944. He was later found to have been killed by civilians. The first is Herschel Green's, who was an ace in both the P-47 and P-51, and went on to lead the 317th Fighter Squadron. The second is Cecil O. Dean's, adorned with a puma chomping down on a 109.
