Dornier Do 17

Recommended Posts

Hello,

Maybe this question has been answered before but I would love to see the Dornier Do 17 or even the 215 in this sim. Why is the Dornier always forgotten in sims. @Jason_Williams is there a reason we don’t have this beautiful aircraft in our hanger. Thank you :)

For AI: Don’t currently have a Battle where it was used considerably.

For making it flyable: Considered obsolete during the Battle of Britain and though used in some numbers early on in Operation Barbarossa, they were effectively phased out due to weak bomb-load, protection, armament.

The only Dornier plane I think we’ll see flyable would be the Do-217.

Hope this helps.

Yes you are right. The Dornier Do 217 seems to be a better choice with better bomb capacity, engines and range.

@Jason_Williams Is the Do 217 an option since it has been on many theatres during the war in many different roles as well.

I for one would love to see the Dornier Do 17 even if only AI, I am sure we could find a good use for it on the existing and forthcoming maps.;)

Even if it does not strictly fit a certain period on our maps I think for sure the mission/campaign builders would find a use for it for early channel

scenarios and if we ever get a Finnish map it would be right at home there, we can live and hope.:drinks:

That said a Dornier 215 and/or 217 could be considered to have been more numerous for our maps, the 215 in the East was utilsed by the Hungarians

and the 217 in Europe later in the war.

Take care and be safe.

Wishing you all the very best, Pete.

The 215 would be another great unique choice in this Series.

Would be great to have it one day, also as a 40€ plane

I would love to see a Do17 and like others, even more a Do217 (and/or 215).

Have a nice day.

:salute:
