NO.20_W_M_Thomson Posted June 4, 2020 Posted June 4, 2020 Ok you think you know what this sim needs to give it a boost, If you care at all about this sim then lets hear some of your great wisdom before it's too late. I know we need some new maps but we don't have them so lets work with what we have. The DM is talked about else were so we won't go there. Give us some ideas almighty great one. Actually anyone can chip in if they have ideas.
Zooropa_Fly Posted June 4, 2020 Posted June 4, 2020 Let's hope this doesn't turn into a pile of turtles heads. 1

HagarTheHorrible Posted June 4, 2020 Posted June 4, 2020 1) Get rid of the carpet beater effects, or only have small/tiny ones visible from really close range. Reason - It will reduce speculative shooting and bring down the range at which people start shooting, both good things in my book. 2) Figure out a reason why biplanes actually had wires and why some even had lots more of them than others. Reason - Obviouse enough. 3) More specific engine routines, particularly for rotaries. Reason - To distinguish between the very major differences in rotary and in-line design. 4) Radiator damage that people care about, other than "Bugger, everybody can now see me". 5) Archie that isn't proximity fused, lags behind player avoidance tactics and is distinguishable one side from the other. 6) Time travel, but instead of 102 years, 3 months will do nicely.

Ok thanks Hagar but I was looking for what we can do as non developers, like missions, Plane sets, win lose scenarios so on, #6 cracked me up, though I agree 100%.

Weather he replies I doubt it, Maybe he thinks he'll build a server that brings in more people, Good luck and hope you succeed. This is not about attracting more pilots to the #20 server, Our server is a totally different entity than the Flug park. Ours is just a practice/dog fight low stress server, Plus I doubt it'll handle the same amount of players. This is actually more about Flug park than anything, How do we get more people in, I've seen a drop in players during the busy days like Thursday and Sundays. I get the DM has caused some problems at the moment but what can WE do to put a band aid on it until they rework things unless they don't. J2 Bidu I go in Flug park every Thursdays and Sundays and the odd week night. Other nights we just hang out on other servers and dog fight or practise. Do what we feel like. sort of thing. Maybe some mission ideas so the mission builders have something to work with. 1

Just one, with all the vulnerability and utility that it contained. Bring back the Recon and Art-Obs game mechanics, but this time make an effort to include some scoring system that rewards these players who are doing something more than the E-sport Dogfight arena. Even just one multi-engined German bomber to represent the entirety of the Central Power’s persistent high altitude bombing and reconnaissance sorties throughout the war. Help bring the gameplay up off the deck, and try to craft a three dimensional representation of the First Air War, not just small skirmishes between scouts. Edited June 5, 2020 by Feathered_IV 4

Guest deleted@83466 Posted June 5, 2020 Posted June 5, 2020 Just make sure it doesn't get too dark in your server, Gramsheer.

Lets just hope FC will continue to progress but if more and more stop coming in then I think we'll be shit out of luck, Right now all we have is MP and that's what's keeping the game going. 2 minutes ago, SeaSerpent said: Just make sure it doesn't get too dark in your server, Gramsheer. We did that, it's called the Flying Circus Flugpark. Jasta 5 created a system where a two-seater pilot can earn the equivalent points earned for shooting down 3 fighters for each recon completed on the Amiens-St.Quentin maps. We are working with mission builders to bring this scoring syste to all the missions on the Flying Circus Flugpark. It was also used successfully in Bloody April. This scoring system wasn't even available in Rise of Flight! Where have you people been?! Flying Circus Flugpark also has a dogfight Furball area on the Flugpark in the middle of the mud clearly marked. More flying and less typing...read the mission descriptions, and the info page of the Flugpark parser and pay attention to in mission on screen instructions when flying on the Flugpark. The more people flying and having fun, the more people who will want to join us! 1 7

I'm more interested in singleplayer careers, but when I do visit Flugpark I always fly the recon objective. I also suggested it to the admin at Combat Box of an example to follow. I still hold that the Flying Circus game needs to have a built in recon & scoring system. Flugpark's workaround is ingenious to be sure. However the need to taxi up to a hangar and shoot out three invisible searchlights with a handgun in order to see points awarded on a distant 3rd party website - it's less than ideal. 1

Feathered_IV Posted June 6, 2020 Posted June 6, 2020 You would like me to elaborate on how taxiing up to a friendly hangar and destroying three invisible searchlights with a revolver to complete a mission is unrealistic?

NO.20_W_M_Thomson Posted June 7, 2020 Author Posted June 7, 2020 Haven't seen that in flugpark for sometime.

NO.20_W_M_Thomson Posted June 7, 2020 Author Posted June 7, 2020 I know , been around for a few weeks but it's no longer there, At least I haven't seen the targets you shoot to get the points. We've been looking for it.
J5_Adam Posted June 7, 2020 Posted June 7, 2020 (edited) Right now it's just on the Matthias maps which can be misleading because some of his maps say, "Contributor: Sizzlorr" but Like @J5_Baeumer says, it's the Amiens to St Quentin maps that have it. When you land, pull up to the windsock and turn off your engine. A text will appear saying you've completed the recon. Look in the closest hangar to see a spotlight appears for a second then disappears but leaves it's base behind in it's place. Turn your engine back on and taxi to a position next to the hangar to get a clear shot of the base. The base kinda looks like a hubcap. Pull up to get a clear shot at that base with ONLY your hand gun. Don't shoot your plane. You have only 5 shots to get it, so don't mess up. On the 5th shot the base explodes and you will see that you have 5 points in game which translates to the equivalent of 3 aircraft plus bonuses for other things etc. in the actual Flugprak parser. NO.20_W_M_Thomson Posted June 7, 2020 Author Posted June 7, 2020 Yup I know about the spot light, Have done it a few times in the past. , perhaps I'm missing the map it's on then and just thought it was on all the maps. Anyway thanks for pointing that out. 1
