Hi, sorry if this has been answered before, my search did not find an answer:

I'm flying P40, 495 Fighter Air Regiment, in Stalingrad, start date March 01 1942. I have just been transferred to Kuban, June 01 1942. I understand this is a feature of the PWCG and I think it is a good one. However I do not own Kuban yet, only BoS. So I am not able to fly missions on the Kuban map.

I checked transfer menus but there are no squadrons flying in Stalingrad anymore.

What can I do to continue this campaign? Can I advance the campaign somehow so the squadron is transferred back to Stalingrad? Or do I need to start a new campaign?

Take leave.  The Stalingrad map comes back into use on tha actual battle date - August 1 1942.  After Stalingrad the battle shifts back to Kuban in late winter of 1943.

Dear Pat,

I think there is an issue with scramble missions during the faux Bob.  I started a hurricane career in June 41 and things were ok.  However once the scramble missions start to be generated, mostly on/after 15 August I think there's an issue.  On mission generation screen in pwcg the mission type isn't written.  The descriptive text does correspond to scramble though.  On the waypoint screen in pwcg the patrol waypoints all are set to 0km altitude. Other WPs altitude  seem ok.  Once flying the mission, after take off there's often phantom call outs of fighters, bombers etc for a few seconds, but after that no enemy AC appear.   I deleted my campaign and started several more to test (tried different airbases, and aircraft, but still in aug or sept 41).  They all had this issue.   Would be grateful if anyone else could let me know if they've had this issue or can replicate it.

Using pwcg 15 on a fresh install.

Many thanks

P.s really love pwcg and very thankful for the work you've put into it :) cheers :)

OK, I see your problem and I have an easy workaround.  PWCG will show the first coop user name highlighted, which suggests that this will be the user name unless you change it.  What PWCG does not do is default the select user name to the first user in the list.  You can tell if no user has been selected if the text field to the right of the list is empty.  You can resolve the  problem by engaging the drop down and selecting a user, even if that suer is the first one in the list.

I will make a change to set the first user as the designated coop user if you simply skip over that data entry step.  In the meantime, try selecting a coop user.

Hi.  Thanks for getting back to me.   Im trying to get a single player campaign going rather than coop but did experiment with what you were suggesting.

I deleted the pwcg folder, pwcg missions and then reinstalled it from a zip. I went into coop admin on the pwcg main menu and added a pilot there. I created a new single player campaign, September 1st 41, RAF using this same pilot name.  I still got the zero altitude patrol waypoints.

I wasn't seeing anything about coop user etc. So started a co-op campaign to see if it would make a difference.  Here I was able to set the coop user to match my pilot name.  I generated a campaign, and again the first mission (scramble) had the payrol WP altitude showing zero.

Hope this all makes sense and there's something I could try to do to fix it.   Thanks

I tried a few more things to work out what's going on.  It seems that for all scramble missions the payrol waypoints are zero altitude.  I started a new Stalingrad campaign and changed mission priorities to get scramble missions and had the same effect of zero altitude patrol WPs.  An anyone do a quick check and see if they're getting the same thing?

Bob41 RAF start in September usually generates  scrambles, to save changing the mission type priorities/probabilities.

Hi Pat and Gang,

@PatrickAWlson, you requested to check the coop adding of pilots. Even with 15.1 I found the issue. However the error log seems to indicate something more specific, something regarding the Order of Military Merit. The error only occured when I tried to generate a coop campaign for the German Luftstreitkräfte!

I made a short clip to document the issue. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W96K_9nTdgY

The error log is visible in the clip and also attached to the post.

If you need me to test anything else, let me know!

I guess we will have to fly Camels for now instead of becoming boche aces

Front line ground units, especially infantry, can be a real FPS hog even on good hardware. Try setting "ground density" to low in simple config, especially if you're flying a fighter career and don't expect to do much ground attack.

You can also try moving your waypoints around to avoid flying near the front line activity, which is visible on the planning map as blue or red arrows. Of course, that's no good if the front line itself is your target, but it can allow you to fly bombing missions on medium or high density without dealing with the front line lag.

If reducing or avoiding ground units isn't enough, you can also reduce the number of aircraft. Set "air density" to low, or go into advanced config and adjust the numbers of Allied and Axis flights and planes per flight individually. Anything over two or three flights per side, especially if they're bombers or flights of more than four planes each, can also really drag down the performance. Setting "CPU allowance" to low reduces the number of CPU-intensive units like bombers that are allowed to spawn.

Hope this helps!

Hello Patrick, in the latest version - Airfield Attack Missions still provide empty airfields. There is usually just some FLAK, but no real targets to attack, hangars or airfield structures are indestructible. I am attaching the incriminated mission, I cannot attach the whole PWCG log as it is 6 MB of size.

Hey Pat, been having a blast doing a FC coop campaign with my Dad. Decided to update to 15.1 today and it looks like it doesn't like the old campaign from the 13.X.X PWCG. Here's the error log. Any ideas? Not sure why it's showing the last mission debrief in the log before going into the PWCG Errors....? We haven't played in over a week, if we've gotta start a new one, no big deal but figured I'd ask. Thanks in advance!

Hey guys, I hope you are all doing well.

I apologise in advance if this has been asked before but I am hitting an issue when it comes to pilot management.

I am running a coop campaign with some friends and have encountered an issue. I recall that when a pilot became wounded I used to be able to “activate” them in the pilot management (forget the exact name, same place where you add new pilots, retire them etc) tab, which would override their wounded status and bring them back into action. However when I try to click the grey circle next to a pilot’s name nothing happens, the circle doesn’t fill in and then when I go to click activate, transfer or retire nothing happens again.

I’ve tried creating new campaigns but still run into the same issue. I get around it by just turning off players being able to get wounded altogether but would rather be able to just reactivate them than have to wait the months for them on medical leave, and also have the opportunity to transfer them so we can try different roles without having to straight up start a new campaign. I also accidentally set someone up in the wrong squadron when creating a pilot and since I couldn’t transfer them I had to make a whole new pilot for them.

has anyone else run into the same issue, found a fix?

thanks for any and all help on this and I apologise again if the issue has already been covered here.

kind regards,

a bunch of wounded pilots.

I think the only way is to take leave for all human pilots until the wounded one is back on duty. Someone else might have found another way, maybe the wounded person flies an AI slot? That way they still get to fly in the next mission(s) but their avatar's combat record doesn't advance - and instead the AI's does I believe.

I usually just set it so players can't get injured and avoid the issue so the timeline isn't mucked up.

Actually, it might be a nice enhancement to be able to pick which status are allowed for a coop player. eg allow death but not incapacitation or wounded so that a coop campaign's timeline is not derailed by minor injuries but if the character is killed the player needs to start a new avatar. At the moment it works the other way so if death is allowed so, are the other injuries. It might be better for co-ops if you could pick exactly which injury types are applicable to players rather than a maximum.

I do that all the time and have not seen it.  I think the answer is "it depends".  Activity is restricted to a limited area with a limited number of flights (game limitations and not PWCG).  PWCG generates a flight for most squadrons and then pares them down to just a few based on calculated proximity and other factors like max fighter missions, etc.  The calculated proximity is key - PWCG goes minute by minute, considering the cruise speed of the flight. and calculates the closest distance to any player flight.  It keeps the ones that come closest.  The idea is that these would be the flights you are mostly likely to encounter in your flight.  The rest of the flights are excluded (game limitations).  PWCG flights move virtually before they spawn.  If you move the WPs significantly then the selected flights might not align with the new path.

Getting error in attempting to open Squadron Log.  Zip Attached

FYI - In 14 & 15.1.0 I edited a few of the seriously wounded pilots to bring them back active after they have been "away" for several months.  No issues with that in the Log before, but just wanted to let you know in case that is the root of the problem.  Thank you!

HI to all. I'm also getting an error when trying to open the squadron log.

I have not performed any edition or pilot alterations.

I'm currently flying for the I./ZG 26, and when the squadron loses a plane in combat it appears listed as an Spitfire not as a BF110 in the debrief notes.

Hi Sudkan - Thanks for letting me know that it's not my "Seriously Injured Pilot Rehab Program" that's killing the Log.  I would hate to have to close those doors to the likes of Bader and Rudel :)

Cold start is no longer actively supported in PWCG.  I leave the feature in for those who want to try their luck but I will not do any further work on it until it is made to work properly in the game.

just to be sure. with "cold start" you mean the option to start in taxi postion. not the difficulty setting "warmup engine".

I think I may have found a bug with PWCG FC 15.1.1

After making a new coop campaign I was unable add a pilot for my friend and kept getting an error (I've included the error log) after filling out all the info.

Also, thanks for the great program! I find it far more fun than the in game career mode and it means me and my friend can fly campaigns together?.

I updated to PWCGBoS 15.1.1 and also updated Java last night. I'm getting errors whenever I try to generate an Iconic mission. I was able to create a campaign and generate a mission for it though. As of now, the issue seems confined to iconic missions.

Hi,

I encountered what I think may be a bug with the Spitfire Mk IXe. During the mission, usually during the take-off / climb phase, the squadron AI's engine will suddenly die. The sequence goes like this:

1. Take-off and get into formation

2. 1 or 2 AI wingmates in squadron will start to lag behind. Observing from external view, the AI will oscillate between max and zero throttle.

3. After about 2 - 5 minutes of this behavior, the Spitfire's engine will die and cause the AI to either bail out or crash.

As I am using PWCG, I thought to post my missions here first, but will move it to a more appropriate thread if advised. Thank you.

Sadly, AI Spitfires' engines cutting out is a known issue with the game.  Various simmers including myself have posted it in the forums and the developers have acknowledged the problem.  It's a game vice PWCG problem.  I hope the developers fix it.

I updated to PWCGBoS 15.1.1 and also updated Java.....

Same

Edit: Re-installed the program.  Now everything works!  This time I put the Zip file in the root folder before extracting.  Not sure if that is what fixed it or just the re-installation alone.  Flew the first mission.  This is fantastic!  Many thanks.

Hi Pat. Getting this box pop up, requires a PC re-boot to get out of it.
