In COOP Campaigns, finishing a mission with planes still in the air, even over friendly territory, results in said planes being lost, and sometimes the pilots being injured.

Hi there ?

I started a Flying Circus Gotha Career.

When I create a mission I set fuel on 50%.
When I start the mission my plane have 100% ?

So I reduce fuel again to 50% in the menu.

While the mission my AI mates can’t follow my climb.

I assume it’s because they still have 100%?

By the way: AI Pilots can’t handle crosswinds while take off but I think it’s not a PWCG‘s made problem ?

The Gotha G.V. Squadron is Bogohl 3 not Boghol 3

Bombengeschwader der obersten Heeresleitung ?

Edit:

I tested also create a mission with other plane and unit. It seems the Flying Circus campaign Generator only  able to start with 100% fuel, no matter what I set while create a mission. I compare it with the BoX campaign generator, there the fuel setting works.

Small little issue Pat with 14.0.0. The version string appears twice.

Not only.

An existing German campaign of mine disappeared right after having updated with new PWCG version 14.0.0. I tried to create a new one, but PWCG refused, returning attached error message.

Try to start from runway instead of from parking.

I think the taxiways and park positions for the new map are not (all?) set up.

Not set up at all for Normandy.

Argh! I deleted files of previous career prior to attempting to create a new one. If memory serves, it was II./JG.52 during Moscow battle.

P.S.: I also noticed that MC.202 has no tactical numbers and AI in VVS campaign does not take off from runway if "parked" option is selected in preferences (please find attached files of both careers).

Hello Pat

I've startetd a new campaign in 1941 on the Normandy map and noticed that the friendly and enemy AI dont attack each other. I was flying on a mission to interecept enemy fighters and they almost crashed into each other, but nothing hapened. I can attack them, but the friendly AI flies straight to the next waypoint and the enemy AI doesn't react until you shoot at them.

That's weird, I haven't played the full release yet but in all the Normandy alphas and betas, the AI has behaved about as well as I've ever seen it behave. The one issue is they're still reluctant to engage before they get to the "ingress" waypoint; that might have been what you saw. I've actually started moving the first patrol waypoint to where the ingress one is and adjusting the others to make up for it, which helps.

Also, if AI is on fighter-bomber missions they are supposed to ignore you until you shoot at them. On patrols or intercepts they should, and in my experience usually do, engage as soon as they come within about 10 kilometers.

Small typo I think:

Starting as 74 squadron, Normandy Map, 1941, it says based at : Kingsnortrth

I assume should be Kingsnorth.

Found! It was the date of introduction of the Spitfire Mk.Vb.
Pat! You knew you changed that date! When you commented that there was a problem with the Spitfire, you could have told me!

I'm going to immediately update my climb and cruise speeds, which were the unintended cause of the problem.

Couldn't say what the problem is... My flight and the enemies were 3 km from each other and nothing happened...

Skin got by a Bf 109F-4 of II./JG52 with the "Me109Early" pack. The squadron emblem is that of JG54. The "tactical" number is reversed (on port side is "10"). I wonder why there are still "fake swastikas" instead of historical ones (also in third party stuff).

Based on the devs' remarks in the 5.002 update thread, it sounds like they have no plans of fixing the two-digit German codes. I think we should assume we're limited to one-digit codes only.

This isn't really an issue but I have mirrors turned off in the game graphic settings but they appear on the planes anyway. I can remove it on my plane in the in game setup screen but wondering if they can be turned off somewhere else in PWCG so I don't need to do it before every flying mission.

Hi Pat. Started an RAF campaign with 4 Squadron (Mosquitos) in 01/01/1943, based at Tangmere. I noticed that all the Mossies in my squadron default to 2x 250lb bombs, but if you click the drop down menu to change loadout, the only one available is "standard loadout" with no bombs at all. It's playable so long as I don't touch the drop down menu, but a bit of a shame that I can't give the rest of my squadron more bombs, or upgrade to 500 pounders, or use rockets etc.

I'm having an error with p47d28 and p51d generic skins as it seems like they're superimposed over another, like in the image below. What might be the issue?

Might be an error on my part building the skins.  Possible that I used the wrong alpha.  I know that I did that on some of the P47s but I thought that I had fixed them.

The American fighters were the first ones that I did.  At that time I was doing one at a time.  Took hours.  Since that time I found an application (XnConvert - recommend it highly) that allows be to batch convert dds to bmp or bmp to dds in a tiny fraction of the time with far less likelihood of error.  I will redo the P-47s and P-51s.

On Bomber missions it’s impossible to pick up the escort. Maybe I do something wrong or it’s a bug?

Are you definitely flying over the "rendezvous" waypoint? The escorts won't follow you if you don't do that.

I try next time hit the exact point. So far I fly over em, under em, beside em ? How about the altitude? In my last mission the map says rendezvous is in 600 meters, in fact they fly in about 3000 meters ?

Just a follow up to this. The payload seems to be completely wrong. I thought it said 250lb bombs but it actually seems to be 250kg bombs (which is impossible, obviously), and when you load the mission the loadout is guns only. I made a new campaign starting 01/01/1944 to see if the date changed anything but sadly no difference. Pretty much makes the mossie unplayable, sadly. Will have to back to the vanilla career mode in the meantime...

Possible typo, assume it should be Dover Castle.

That wasn't an in-game bug, that was Pat Wilson to be wrong.

Developers made a system of identification based on a single digit, like this:

2022-11-3-6-58-50.jpg

setting a symbol where more than one digit was required:

2022-11-3-6-57-51.jpg

obviously not reversed on the other side:

2022-11-3-6-58-9.jpg

or two symbols:

2022-11-3-6-59-4.jpg

again not reversed on the other side:

2022-11-3-6-59-18.jpg

while squadron commander wears always a double chevron:

2022-11-3-7-7-4.jpg

Pat Wilson should simply align himself to stock game system.

You do realize that the devs kinda phoned it in on the German tatical codes? Staffeln almost always had more than 10 aircraft, so there should have been the option for two-digit codes.

What they did is optimize the placement logic for single digit and stab markings, without accounting for 2 digit codes.  The current logic is necessary to make these markings look correct.  However, it produces the wrong results on 2 digit codes.  In my bug post I even provided pseudo code logic for the separate 2 digit handling.  As you point out, when the problem was noted they simply said that it will not be fixed.

I cannot correctly use single digit codes because there are more than 9 planes in a staffel.  Still, that is what I will have to do.  I will use the last digit only.  There is a chance that the same code appears twice in a flight if Black 5 and Black 15 are  in the flight together.  Not great but better than the ridiculous 15 on one side and 51 on the other.

@greybeard_52 Thank you so much.  You have just made my life tremendously more simple.  From now on, all bug reports on PWCG will be met with a reply of "you should simply align to the PWCG system."  Huge time saver.

Note and For What It's Worth: Last week I posted a similar problem I'm experiencing with friendly aircraft landing or attempting to land at enemy airfields in the General "Bugs" forum.  Unfortunately, moderator Mr. Smith immediately locked the thread and informed me I'd have to post the problem in the PWCG forum because the problem occurred while flying a PWCG-generated campaign.  That said, I don't think the issue of friendly aircraft attempting to land on enemy airfields is a PWCG problem.  This never happened before the release of Battle of Normandy, so I think something got broken within the game code when 1CGS released Battle of Normandy.  I have attached a file from a recent mission where the problem was particularly acute with Spitfires and Hurricanes landing at the airfields outside Calais or being blown to pieces while approaching.

Hi Pat.

I'm new to IL2 but already enjoying your great campaign generator.

Since the V14 update i've noticed the following issues with the app:

* PWCG will generate 0m altitude waypoints for most of the intercept missions. If an AI pilot is flight lead, our flight will climb and then dive down to ground level, when first patrol WP is reached. It happens on Stalingrad and Normandy maps with Luftwaffe (Allies not tested).

I tried a fresh install of PWCG and a brend new campaign, but the issue persists.

* Also the friendly airfields won't talk over the radio anymore. My pilot requests landing permission but gets no response. So it's bit of a guessing game, if the runway is clear.

Happens only with PWCG generated missions, vanilla career airfield radio is fine.

Thanks
