I was thinking, it would be cool to have a relatively new cockpit, and a heavily worn cockpit, and then as the campaign progresses, you get a plane with more wear and tear. But that would require support from the devs. 4

Very nice, Oyster, A lot sharper, and these old eyes need all the help they can get. Gets rid of the jaggies on the larger letters which look much better now. 1
simfan2015 Posted April 23, 2020 Posted April 23, 2020 A question... If the textures for the older planes from a.o. Bos and bom, would be upsized immediately from 1k to 4k instead of 2k using the AI, wouldn't the cockpits then look even better still on larger monitors??? Is this an option??? Thanks

Thanks I can do it, in fact I am running "ESRGAN" which is an approach of convolutional networks of AI, but I don't know anything about skining, I can increase the resolution of images to 4x, if someone could give me that job, with ESRGAN I can increase the size 4x, but as I said I don't kn0w anything more about textures, I can only work with .png files

I was only thinking of applying the exact same workflow you are now using to double the resolution, you would do the same but double it once again!? With less refined methods like topaz AI softwares we can upsize images up to 600 percent with great results. Your approach is even more refined I guess! Thanks

Then activated it with JSGME Also put the common folder in Mods folder and activated with JSGME. Mods ON is activated in game. Did I miss anything? This is a pic of my MODS folder.

SJ_Butcher Posted April 24, 2020 Posted April 24, 2020 (edited) I am terrible at graphics but what I did is to use the ESRGAN AI model to upscale a fraction of image(1/16 because the lack of GPU memory) from 512x512 to 2048x2048, then resized to 512x512 again to see the improvements on upscaling the resolution. The differences are hard to spot, but if you pay attention to details you can clearly see that both are bit different. The left is the Original input and the Rigth the upscaled If I am doing it right, its really hard to see improvements, the second one locks a little less brigther but maybe we will have to re do all the textures Edited April 24, 2020 by SJ_Butcher

If you have JSGME already installed your folder should look like this. You have to make sure that when you place mods in the mod folder they will install to the correct path This is inside my mods folder when you Use JSGME you have to insure that the mods will load to the correct file path so inside my 4k cockpits folders the correct file path data-graphics-planes-P47D28-Textures Here is a short video showing the file paths. Blitzen Posted April 24, 2020 Posted April 24, 2020 Hmm...My downloads came in individual compressed archives that contained several aircraft that needed to be opened with 7zip.So I ended up with quite a few individual floders not the single folder that you show in your screenshots you show.I can place these in my Mods in game folder and use JSGME to ( hopefully) go into data/graphics/Planes folder.I'm not sure why I didn't download the files like you have shown?

Sorry Blitzen, I should have said I just put all of the VVS and allied cockpits in 1 folder and all the Luftwaffe in another. I just made sure that the file path was correct. I then just enabled them all in the mod manager.

At least in DCS they´re smaller, though I´ve no idea which one is more in line with the original blueprints. Maybe you could take the holes from the Yak 1B´s canopy frame?

I used DCS WWII planes for reference when I was remaking fw-190 cockpit. maybe the smaller holes will be great. 2
