Yep, I think in some of the vids they mentioned that visual damage would jump from nothing to everything and miss out incremental changes. Really cool, it does sound like they will go over visual damage at some point too.

Honestly, they might not need to if this plays out in the long run like I think it will.

Great patch.  I notice that while a couple of aircraft were adjusted because they were too visible at long distances, the A20 was not.  I will assume the devs checked and decided it was realistic (or maybe the new reflection behaviour fixes it) and say no more on the subject.  :good:

I would never have realized that there were so many things that needed to be corrected.  The attention to detail this team shows is nothing if not exemplary.  Thank you for not only producing this update, but for doing so during this global pandemic that has so many of us either laid off or working from home.  I sincerely wish you and your team take a brief moment to appreciate this milestone.  I know your users will.  S!

They have stated they are looking at it but that it will require long-term work as it is not an easy fix. The new deferred rendering may help in the next update. And you can see that they have corrected some issues in this very patch with planes appearing the wrong size at certain distances and certain glare issues.

I noticed that too.  Very good. 

When taking hits, the FC aircraft don’t seem to erupt in huge puffs of cocaine anymore either.   The impacts seem much more affordable!  :)

As the kids say today, this is a "Big Mood".

I plan on distracting everyone with easter candy this weekend, then fortifying the computer area against all comers. The kid can go one weekend without minecraft!

Hi and thank you for the update. I upgraded my sim up to the 4.005 version and I've tested three planes: Fokker D.VII, P-51 and Me 109 K-4. I think I noticed a few changes, but I'll test a bit more the sim.

 

I'd like to ask one question: a few minutes ago, when I hit a French SPAD with my double 7.92 I saw that the French plane gaught fire… then I saw that the HEAT HAZE was clearly visible, straight out of the engine on fire… Is that a new improvement of 4.005 or was it already there?

There is something wrong with the contrails, they are not visible in an extremely cold weather.

The damage modeling is the star of the show but I am glad to see bugfixes around the missing hit sounds, as well as sound improvements in general.

According to the test results, if there is a choice on what to fly behind the front line: fw190-a8 or fw190-d9, I will definitely make a choice for the A8, much more likely to reach their own after meeting with enemy fighters.

37mm M4 is now also 1hit gun vs fighters, insted 2-3 before, first thing i checked after checking to see if engine timer techchat messages work in expert (they still dont).

.50 cal dont seam to rip things apart like before do

and 262 is no longer bullet spunge, its posible to shoot it down in one pass.

all in SP who knows how it will be in MP.

Wow... you really want there Hispanos over the BMG now... Really nice job in damage modelling!

 

Also, hearing the gun sounds echo in the forest is just really something. Amazing.

But I have to say, that my game is now broken. Every time I intend to shoot, the game freezes and an error window appears that reads :

 

Error reading Armor Parameters. 

File: luascripts/worldobjects/projectiles/shell_ger_30x184_he.txt

 

Class_name= cbatchballistics

Turning off mods fixed this for me.  Overall great patch!!

Thanks! That did it. Curious if it's a specific mod. I would hate to fly without the clouds mod.

Just a first impression on watching the AI scrap it out, but these WWI crates seem to more readily soak up a spray of bullets from behind typically leading to a swiss cheese mass of little holes whilst still flying on, yet shots head on or to the side can still inflict critical failures.

 

Seems a bit more along the lines of what I'd expect for aircraft that are little more than fabric over a sparse wooden frame.

Thanks for all these goodies. I have also noted that in the editor we have now all the thumbnail pictures showing. Nice cherry for mission builders.

I would have loved to have also the willys jeep in red army colors as thousands have been delivered to the USSR.

Has to be effect or tracer mod. Texture and cloud mods run fine.
