Notice here, some are using Nvidia profile inspector or the Nvidia inspector, would like to know; any huge improvements here by using this piece of software? If so could you please explain the do & don’ts while doing the adjustments in inspector.

I never did use this software even not in the flatworld gaming mode.

Inspector is basically an advanced NVCP with far more options. Can be useful in some special cases but I haven't found any use case for IL-2 VR. If there were a setting that boosts FPS Nvidia would probably build it in their driver by default.

Not much in Nvidia settings work for VR use.

The ones that do afaik:

Prefer Maximum Performance

VR Pre-rendered frames

Low Latency mode

Texture Quality.

Before running into the Nvidia Inspector, I did some testing in the Nvidia control panel using Antialising mode 8x like   @71st_AH_Mastiff  did and Anisotropic filtering 16x like @driftaholic  did.

But I do not see any difference, maybe I'm looking wrong, but I notice nothing on the planes sharp edges or at distance view.

Those settings will not apply to VR. You can inject some FXAA if you are running AA in the game. I never cared much for this myself though.

The only use I've had for it was VRSS (Variable Rate Super Sampling), but I did not find the gains very valuable.

It has stopped working for me, possibly because a driver update removed the settings, or made them inapplicable?

In any case, I don't miss them. Better stay off this tool I'd say, it's easy to introduce graphical glitches with it.

As dburne said, those settings from Nvidia Inspector do not apply in VR.

I got a bit tired of talking up against the false information being spread left and right, that seem to make a round, when you don't start countering it.

Just follow the stickies in these forums, ignore the fancy ideas popping up every other week, and you'll be fine. And follow to what some of the oldies say here, for example @dburne in this case, your #1 address for anything related Oculus regarding IL-2.

The problem is the drivers are becoming more and more proprietary

Why update drivers?

Never change a running system. You don't need the latest drivers, as they a) don't bring new features b) will only serve for particular games. So, only if b) is necessary for you, you may want to upgrade Nvidia drivers.

In my defense I did say I don't see a difference in NVCP anisotropic filtering and left it at 16X solely because it didn't affect performance and maybe active on something other than the ground texture which I was testing it for.

TLDR; didn't know if it helps, didn't hurt.

Didn't hurt anyone @driftaholic, by the way also didn't mention you by name. Weren't the first one to suggest such things. More referring to other things, for example to put it into perspective, we've had people handing out VR advice early 2018 who didn't have a VR headset on their own - and whose advices using Inspector "bricked" the VR compositor for Oculus headsets. Well, that was the worst case. Just saying, no worries. It's always good to try new things (just need to remember to A/B test right afterwards), if we didn't try new things we'd be still sitting in mud huts, collecting berries and riding horses. Maybe have some bark soup in winter. You get the drift ??

I understand, my settings have already changed, they do slightly every time I play as I try some new things. Thus my conclusions are evolving over time as well. I had hopped to only share my thoughts as a time stamp of where I am learning about this all as it may help others.

None of the two Nvidia inspectors users ? did contact me nor by pm,  so I did some further testings and my suggestion is: leave it in the box! Although for the flat- screeners it has some very interesting aspects, not only to use the hidden Nvidia settings but also it contains overclocking and monitoring tool, which I did not use/test btw. I did not have any crash issues but flatscreen players if wanting to use, prepare in a lot of reading to know what you are doing as some adjustments are tricky or can be corrupting other settings.
