Sublime Posted April 1, 2020 Posted April 1, 2020 Il2 starts fine. Career mode began fine this am but crashed. After that selecting it takes you to pilot selection or creation. Exvept the list is never populated, the circular waiting sign endlessly spins until you force close the game. Hard resets and everytning else has failed. Yet the game consistenly begins. Scripted career, mp, and sp, and qm all seem to work. I mean the lists populate. I got work and wanted a quick mission. Doesnt seem likely now, desperately hoping I can fly tbis long ass Sea Dragons mission(9? The one you fly all the way up.to by Kerch following the coast line. Titled back in service) Ill happily llay pwgc but career mod had its uses. Id like to add if anyone genuinely is curious about fixing this this is a problem that seems to recur with me over time the game seems to degrade, oddly.
ShamrockOneFive Posted April 1, 2020 Posted April 1, 2020 When it crashes what does Windows Event Viewer say for the reason of the crash? Will probably give clues as to what the problem is.

I probably sound like a broken record at this point but can you please post your full computer specs? I ask this question every time people post just because often there is a critical hardware or software thing going on. Include any other software running in the background like head tracking, Discord, Steam, etc. Also any gaming peripherals. If it is just career mode it could be a number of things. Career mode has to talk to the Il-2 servers for mission generation IIRC so it could be that something is causing your connection with those servers to 'hang' when it is trying to generate the mission. What is your network configuration like?
Sublime Posted April 1, 2020 Author Posted April 1, 2020 Sure I uave a dell inspiron Its always ran fine Win 10 250 guz cpu intel core i5 7300 8 gb ram 64 bit x74 based prcoessor Nvidia geforce Track ir.. Im far from an expert friend what else? Pwgc when i click accept mission just endlessly gives me the circle "wait" thing

Im far from an expert friend what else? Pwgc when i click accept mission just endlessly gives me the circle "wait" thing I see that you are also having issues with Pat Wilson Campaign Generator (PWCG). That changes things a little, its not a career mode issue, or at least not JUST a career morde issue, something else is going on. If it was just Career Mode it could be some kind of networking issue, since Career Mode has to talk to servers - but PWGC is just on your own machine and requires no network connection. Is this happening on career mode for all maps, or just for Bodenplatte? What settings are you using for Career and PWGC in terms of frontline density or activity? Maybe your system is having a hard time coping with high requirements, causing the crash. As far as system specs, I've laid it out below:Operating System: Windows 10 - GoodCPU - Intel Core i5 7300 - not sure what 250 guz means, do you mean 2.50 gHz? If so, this is below the minimum system requirements. However, the chip (like most i5 chips) has a 'turbo boost' that lets it go up to 3.5 gHz when needed so it should be fine. Make sure your power setting in Windows is set to Performance in order to make the most of the chip, otherwise Windows will throttle the chip a little to keep power usage down.Memory - 8 GB of RAM - we can get more detailed than this if necessary but RAM is pretty much RAM.GPU (Video Card) - Nvidia Geforce - we need more details here. There should be a name for the card, something like GTX 1060. Since it is a laptop it might just have an integrated graphics card but it could have a dedicated one. An easy way to get all of your computer specs if you don't know them or have documentation is to download CPU-Z - its a utility that evaluates your system and gives you all the specs you need, and a whole bunch that you probably don't. https://www.cpuid.com/softwares/cpu-z.html. You can just open this utility on the computer and click through each of the tabs to get your system specs for CPU, memory, graphics, etc. CPU-Z will also show what your CPU clock speed is at, so you will be able to see if it has enabled Turbo Boost. Be advised, laptops are not as good at dissipating heat and so high temperatures may be keeping your components from running at their best speeds, as they throttle down to keep heat acceptable. To compare with the minimum requirements: OS: 64-bit Windows® 7 (SP1) / Windows® 8 / Windows® 10 CPU: Intel® Core™ i5/i7 2.8 ГГц GPU: GeForce GTX 660/Radeon HD 7770 with 2GB VRAM or better DirectX: Version 11 RAM: 4 Gb+ Sound Card: DirectX®-compatible Storage space: 23 Gb+ Internet connection: 256Kb/s for single-player career, 1Mb/s and faster for multi-player DirectX® compatible flight stick is recommended Your specs seem to meet minimum requirements from what I can see... as long as the processor can boost itself to the required clock speeds. These minimums are truly the bare minimum to run the game though, and to be honest for Battle of Bodenplatte I don't think they are truly adequate. When I am running the game on Balanced my system consistently uses almost all of my system RAM (8GB) and all of my video card's VRAM of 3GB. I can't imagine trying to play with 4GB of RAM or only 2 GB of VRAM.So with all that being said, here are some things I would try: -Check Windows power settings, and put the power setting to Performance to make sure it is not throttling your CPU. -Try setting your graphics settings in game to the lowest setting possible, and set the activity and density as low as possible in PWCG and Career Mode. -Update your graphics card driver to see if that helps. Conversely, if you are using the latest driver, it might be that a recent driver update is not playing nice with Il-2. -Try launching the game and using career mode and PWCG without any third party software running in the background. Turn off TrackIR, discord, anything running in your 'System Tray' to rule out any problems with that software. It's hard to say what the problem might be without an error message or something, but you can try this and report back. 1
Sublime Posted April 1, 2020 Author Posted April 1, 2020 (edited) Yes ghz. Regardless of minimjm specs I run at high graf and get 60 fps. These problems are very depressi g. They all happened within 1 hr of acting normally! And whats odd is i played a sea dragons mission fine... ? Edited April 1, 2020 by Sublime
Sublime Posted April 2, 2020 Author Posted April 2, 2020 @RedKestrel since you seem knowledgable can you pm me? Its about this and sounds odd. You will understand why I wanted to discuss the next part privately.. (nda..)
RedKestrel Posted April 2, 2020 Posted April 2, 2020 Ok, summing up: Quick missions work. Scripted Campaigns Work. Multiplayer works. And I see that you've gotten PWCG to work, which at least means you can play a campaign-style thing. So it appears to be limited to career mode. A couple ideas on why this might be happening: -issues with connecting to the server for mission generation - basically, whenever the game tries to talk to the server about generating a mission, it hangs waiting for a response, then crashes. This seems unlikely since you can connect to multiplayer and have no issues logging into the game. -corrupt files in the career mode folders. Something has gone wrong with how the career mode tracks your pilots, careers and missions and generates information for them. Here's my suggestion. -Set all your graphics settings to the lowest possible - we want to rule out issues here with your system being overwhelmed. I know it has always worked well in the past, but just humor me. As much as possible we want to test one thing at a time. -Try and launch a career in Moscow with scattered density. This type of career would have probably the lowest impact on your hardware, so we can rule out issues there. -If the career starts successfully, try and complete a mission. -If the mission completes successfully and you are able to move to a new day, then start another career with the same settings in Stalingrad. Repeat this process with the Kuban career and bodenplatte career. This way we will see if it is a particular career/map combination that is causing issues. If you get a crash: -make a note of the map, mission type, air force, and location if possible. -go to the Windows Event Viewer as @ShamrockOneFive has suggested. Look to see if Windows has logged an error or noted why the crash happened. Here's a link I found on how to use it. https://www.partitionwizard.com/partitionmagic/windows-10-crash-log.html -Let us know what the crash log says. It may point to a reason why the crash is happening, like a particular file or piece of hardware that is not cooperating. Post back here when you have more info. 1
Sublime Posted April 6, 2020 Author Posted April 6, 2020 Im going to try this and if that doesnt work reinstall. Sorry to be late getting back to you. Frankly I think Im gonna take a break from this community as I can take a hint when it seems Im intensely disliked by many; and when legitimate queries are mocked by people more or less representing 1c
