TCW_Brzi_Joe Posted March 18, 2020 Posted March 18, 2020 (edited) I am not sure if that is VR issue or not. Sometimes lately the game lost focus, and I can not with alt-tab-ing get focus again. I select my game again, but mouse pointer just hover over game window, and goes out of game border. I can not click anything (when in hangar), nor drive my plane (hotas non responsive). Also keyboard does not work in game any more, and joy2key keyboard emulation. But game does not stop, it looks ok, and sometimes my plane just fly. It may happen when I let auto-level-pilot to drive, and sometimes after dieing, or in hangar. That is at least once a day. What to do? ps: I can see my mouse pointer in game, but clicking does not work Edited March 18, 2020 by Brzi_Joe
SCG_Fenris_Wolf Posted March 19, 2020 Posted March 19, 2020 (edited) Brzi_Joe, if I remember correctly you use the Pimax. It's a bug in the new PiTool 258, I have the same issue. I rolled back to a previous PiTool. Edited March 19, 2020 by SCG_Fenris_Wolf
TCW_Brzi_Joe Posted March 19, 2020 Author Posted March 19, 2020 Thnx guys, I will test a bit full screen, then pitool reverting. Pitty, as I like loading without flashing...
SCG_Fenris_Wolf Posted March 20, 2020 Posted March 20, 2020 (edited) Don't know about your GPU, but the version .258 doesn't let me select anything higher than 0 on the Catalyst modifier. So I'm stuck with low FPS on .258, hence I reverted back to .255 and will check out .249 later, that gives a nice performance boost, but must adjust IPD software side as it's an older software when Pimax still had distortions. I agree on .258, graphically the best PiTool to date yet. No flicker on loading. No distortions whatsoever. 3-D overlap feeling incredibly well and real. Increased presence. But that it uses only 70% of my RTX2080ti is something that I cannot accept yet. It needs work in that regard. Let's see what the next PiTool brings. In .249 I was at >95% and +15 to +20FPS in comparison. Edited March 20, 2020 by SCG_Fenris_Wolf
TCW_Brzi_Joe Posted March 20, 2020 Author Posted March 20, 2020 I had before 60-70 fps, and with this last Pitool 258 I have 50-57. Somehow that difference was not visible for me, so wanted to test it more. Only tracking is not as good as before, and that is visible (start/stop head movements are inaccurate). I will revert back to older Pitool also. PS: Catalyst was working on 0.0 only, or right eye broken. 1080Ti PS2: And that was the only pitool version with consistent settings every time (always as I made before, large fov, colors, etc.).
TCW_Brzi_Joe Posted March 23, 2020 Author Posted March 23, 2020 @SCG_Fenris_Wolf @dburne unfortunately full screen and reverting on older Pitool booth do not work, this problem is persistent. Sometimes when in hangar or in level flight I go to solve something (a few minutes), and then sometimes I can not interact with game any more. This last time my head stuck with 3 degrees of freedom (2x Vive Basestations v1...). In Steamvr I put 5min (longest) inactivity for turning off HMD screens. It happened with less then 5 min. Fenris, you said somewhere that we should make fresh install of game occasionally. I hate that, but do you think it might help with this problem?
SCG_Fenris_Wolf Posted March 23, 2020 Posted March 23, 2020 Have you cleansed your 3 AppData subfolders of PiTool/Pimax folders and the folder found in program files(x86)/pimax/ before installation of the older PiTool version? Also don't ever put any inactivity for turning off HMD screens in SteamVR. It needs to remain entirely disabled. A fresh game installation has helped me in the past, but I doubt it is a game issue. This sounds like something else. Maybe you also have some App popping up (and then quickly hiding away again before you can notice it). Could be anything ?

Hello Fenris Yes the PiTool #258 has brought major improvement in the 3D presence, the whole cockpit environment comes alive much more and I found the same with Catalyst, only the settling of zero would allow smooth flying but I do find that I get very smooth frames with Smart Smoothing, better than any other PiTool version. I run the Pimax at 64 Hz and the frames are a solid 32 constantly. I would love to know that my overclocked 2080Ti is performing at nearly 100% but I can accept that it isn't as it gives me such a high resolution and smooth gaming experience. Lots of users are struggling with Catalyst, it's such a new feature and I am pleased that they responded to the community's request for it. I am sure it will mature into something much more productive in the not too distant future.
