352ndRoodster Posted March 2, 2020 Posted March 2, 2020 G`day Guys, I'm sorry to be a pain in the ass with this mission but after making some changes to the mission tonight, my Mission Editor crashed twice and since then, I get a warning message "Error Reading Mission File." I'm just about at my wits end with this Mission Editor crashing and this mission. The changes I made was the description and removed all bold text commands and moved some of the AAA around on the Taman airfield.. Any help is greatly appreciated.. Roodster Kerche Klash.zip
JimTM Posted March 2, 2020 Posted March 2, 2020 Your .mission file contains all "NULL" characters so somewhere along the line, your mission got screwed up. I have a copy from Feb. 7 if you need it.
352ndRoodster Posted March 2, 2020 Author Posted March 2, 2020 Gday Jim, If you could send me a copy that would be fantastic. But how did it get screwed up in the first place? Was it because I was working in the mission description area? Roodster
IckyATLAS Posted March 2, 2020 Posted March 2, 2020 (edited) Just in case I always work on my mission projects with three copies. Backup copy, Test copy, Working copy. Crashes, corruption of files. Always have been able to recover. You just loose the last work before a save. About 10 minutes work max. All groups are also saved. Missions of a scripted campaign are numbered M00, M01 .... and all the main groups are named M00 xxxxxxxxx, M01 xxxxxxxxx, ...... All main groups are in fact subgroup of one top M00 Mission Group, which contains them all, including, cities, airfields bridges all the templates that come by default with the map. When you do this you can very easily if you have a map corruption, load a new map and import the MXX Mission group and you have your mission again perfectly positioned on the map. This have saved me once. The groups or subgroups that I want to have as common groups to all missions are in a common group directory. They are named COM xxxxxxx, All the groups appear in the editor in the groups list. As you create missions your reusable database increases. After some missions it becomes easier to produce new ones for the same campaign. Edited March 5, 2020 by IckyATLAS

352ndRoodster Posted March 3, 2020 Author Posted March 3, 2020 Thanks @JimTM & thanks for the advice @IckyATLAS
Gambit21 Posted March 4, 2020 Posted March 4, 2020 ALWAYS save a backup version along with the working version....a few times per work session at least. I learned that the hard way. I also backup all of my missions to another drive now and then (not as often as I should) 1
