It'll save having it as a mod, which it is and good at that!! :good:

Anything like this is welcomed thiough I think the lighting and personel elements  have been left out and will still need a separate mod to add.. More than anything it gives mission creators and campaign makers more stock choice over and above the old models currently on offer. Even without them I think creators have made  some interesting scenes so I look forward to what it can bring in future.

It would be great if this kind of thing eventually extends to to some of the USN mods designed to detail the supercarrier decks. After so many years in EA the limited progress in this regard (one new S3 model) has suprised and dssappointed me a little. The stock Seahawk and Sea Stallion are woeful. Thankfully most of popular USN  mods are still maintained and exploding ships after a patch are rare.   EDIT apparently not 😞

@1/JSpan_Guerrero If you don't intend to use steam version of DCS but get it directly from ED website and don't mind 2-factor authentication, you can try any warbird or map for free for 2 weeks. That should give you enough time to decide if it's something you want to spend actual money on.

Came to the conclusion that this OH 6 mod is pretty good and pretty hard to land with any sort of dignity.
something happen to the torque vs rudderpedals when slowing down to a halt and hoover. It takes a bit of time stabilising

no matter what I do I cannot replicate my best landing.  I find it unpredictable.
But many things with it is fun, I am pretty sure FM is getting tuned. From books I read it is very responsive but it is also a versatile and you can see that pedigree in this mod. But the moment you move the collective rudderpedals is not up to the task countering the torque

Yep

I'm one of those mission makers he refers to, however I just couldn't get anything done by the deadline due to abandoning the 2 NTTR missions (looking dated) and no access to Kola and a few other things going on.  I REALLY hope they updated NTTR...it deserves it. Then I'd like to explore Weapons School maybe, at least 2 or 3 missions.

The guys that were able to get some missions done though deserve kudos, and you should really enjoy those missions.

If Nellis was up to date at would still be my favorite map.

Yeah quality of life/immersion details/models/ground crews etc etc has been slow in coming. That's been disappointing. These assets will help a ton in that regard.

I still want brown shirt/ground crew for F-18 ground starts etc.

Nellis (NTTR) is in dire need of an update, hopefully it happens eventually... An expansion all the way out to NAS Fallon would be my dream for the map, especially with all the the Navy oriented modules we have already and coming down the road.

Casmo started a new tutorial series for the F-4:

aaaaaand........today is the day my DCS M.2 decides to crap out!

I have been holding off getting the F-4, but I guess I have to give in.

Were having doubts about the multi-seat functionality, but so far it looks very promising. Also had kind of a fixation that would be nice to have a Navy version and be able to do carrier operations, but the more I read about the versatility of various F-4 variants, this F-4E actually seems to be the most interesting one. Also, being the most numerous and also the main export version, it would probably be the best fit for various F-4 related scenarios that are sure to be made for such an iconic aircraft.

"Blocking issues", is that a new euphemism for bugs?

The delay is not caused by the F-4.

What can I say. I got friends in high places!

Now I can sit in serene contemplation whilst 640GB of DCS reinstalls at 7 mb/s.

Yep. Absolutely!

And I'm quite sure it is actually 2 weeks and not the old gag.

First impressions, its a beautiful plane and cockpit, with a rubbish radar!

I'm sure if I read manuals and stuff I'll be able to use the radar to be somewhat useful occasionally!

Question. I have recently upgraded my MB, CPU and memory. Should I

A. Reinstall DCS from a fresh install

Or

B. I Saved my complete previous install on a new M2 drive, should I try to run it from this previous install?

Thanks in advance.

I can't think of any reason why new hardware would require a fresh install. Probably not a bad idea to run the 'repair' tool before you start the sim itself though.

Don't forget you need to copy over the DCS folder in 'Saved Games' too.

I frequently (not too frequently) install the whole game new, DCS as well as IL-2. Do it over night. A fresh install is never bad.

Now if they could make the A-4 Skyhawk an official module :) Phantom is phenomenal, have to get the Tomcat a bit later just to support Heatblur.

Tomcat is great for scaring jester to Bale out

I can see they report same shit with F4 backseater.
I will not fly for some time. Hope the Kiowa arrive until I do

Kiowa just feels like an armed news chopper to me (well it is essentially a Jet Ranger) so does nothing for me. I need a chopper with some “Oomf!”

So Chinook for me, then Cobra and Blackhawk. :)

Edit: If you’re into the Kiowa, check out the video that Casmo just posted. Pretty cool, great job. Not enough to convince me on the Kiowa, but if you’re a fan you’ll love it.

Like you I was a little luke warm on the Kiowa. I saw all the "whats the point now the Apachie is out" comments too and thought "yeah - whats the point?". However,  given the maps we have now and coming, both in the immediate and perhps medium term its actually got a lot of use in DCS over and above the shoot n scoot missions. Stuff like small action groud support and even extraction in Afghanistan for instance. If the mission is more of a mocked up gulf war scenario then the Kiowa is flying whilst the Apachie is in bits being serviced.  It also has its use is the NTTR map to a degree with the RAID project and the training undertaken in Arizon (although a substitute base would need to be used).

What I like about Helos is that many of them dont just have a weapons focussed utility which greatly expands game play. I think Im a convert.

EDIT - Im also a big fan of the Fugly-ing up of military machines over their civiliam counterparts. And the Kiowa is Fuglied to perfection!

Ah 64 is not my thing. Kiowa might not be my thing. But I be damned I gonna fly them to an extend that I can say I can do pilot seat on them. I can operate AH 64 from the backseat. And it was my most boring DCs time doing so. I am also going for chinook. But I might just think it’s going to be a boring one. I hope I am wrong. I am mostly curious on how to be a part of a team in it. I believe  multi crew can be fun in the chinook.
