BladeMeister Posted November 20, 2023 Posted November 20, 2023 (edited) It was a long flight, but I finally took my Mossie to the South Atlantic. S!Blade<>< Edited November 20, 2023 by BladeMeister 2

Gambit21 Posted November 20, 2023 Posted November 20, 2023 SA map just depends on what your expectations/needs are. For my particular needs it doesn’t work. Looks beautiful from up high though - more of a MSFS appropriate map than DCS IMO.

The mountains are spectacular, but the cities, as many others have said are pristinely clean and sterile looking. If we had a Tirpitz model in DCS, this map would be perfect to recreate the attacks in the fjords in Tromsø Norway. Then we would only need to wait on project Lancaster to complete the raiding flights. It would be fun to use a Mossie flight as a Pathfinder in those attacks. S!Blade<>< 1
LLv34_Flanker Posted November 20, 2023 Posted November 20, 2023 S! Fell for The Viggen on sales. An iconic airplane I remember as a kid living in Sweden. Brute force and sophisticated systems for it's time. Waiting for the new northern map to fly it on.. 1

The airport’s are mostly small, civilian air strips unfit to base a squadron of fighters at. Up north OK - I need one down south. I had a sort of South America “Vietnam’esque” idea. I can do it when the Naval F-4 arrives (or if I wanted to use the Tomcat which I don’t) but I’m hard pressed to lay out a compelling “north/south scenario with land-based aircraft with these cute, low capacity civilian bases. Great for bush flying, getting fisherman and backpackers around Patagonia though. If only that was a mission dynamic in DCS, and if only I had a Goose or an Otter. Onward to the Greenland and Antarctic maps. I love DCS, it’s the best thing going…but the 3rd party map decisions…ugh. Syria is it, and will be for a long time. Edited November 21, 2023 by Gambit21
Lusekofte Posted November 25, 2023 Posted November 25, 2023 Well I did pre buy the F4 Phantom. Because I believe it is worth it. I buy all Vietnam era planes coming and the Corsair. There is no point fighting it. 1

Ahh…then you must have your computer in a refrigerated room, with a hard seat, and someone standing by with a handful of gravel to wing at your face when you take hits. ?
MiGCap Posted November 27, 2023 Posted November 27, 2023 The big advantage in RL modern fighter flying is that I can support my movement by holding up at the inside of the canopy or using handle bars in the cockpit . Without I wouldn't be able to turn my head or my upper part of body as much as it is necessary to watch my six in my age ... a possibility I miss in sim VR flying. But I didn't use the necksaver either in VR. Instead I mounted a handle bar at the wall beside my sim cockpit installation. Works. At least on one side. 1 1

MiGCap Posted November 28, 2023 Posted November 28, 2023 Exactly this product I bought one week ago ... ... but not for my sim cockpit, but for my 91-year-old mother. 1
easterling77 Posted November 28, 2023 Posted November 28, 2023 (edited) Ey these things are golden.? I have to use them for the next couple of weeks after a hip surgery. And so long no flying for me (not allowed to use force on one leg - and therefore no pedal movements)? @MiGCap I'm hoping your mother is doing fine in this high age. Edited November 28, 2023 by easterling77
MiGCap Posted November 28, 2023 Posted November 28, 2023 (edited) @easterling77 Yes, she is fine. But she has more and more difficulties to stand up. Therefore the mentioned device. Get well soon after Your surgery! Edited November 28, 2023 by MiGCap Typo
easterling77 Posted November 29, 2023 Posted November 29, 2023 (edited) Good to hear. Thank you, it's a matter of patients for me - luckily I'm young and fit enough - so it will be ok. Six weeks no IL2 and DCS?♂️ but there are many other options to spend time on. Edited November 29, 2023 by easterling77 1

If I have to buy a new one it’s gonna be century’s most expensive module

Man I wonder if those textures in that plane will make a slideshow with my pc. If I have to buy a new one it’s gonna be century’s most expensive module Lol. My old Rig was running all my sims pretty good in 2020, then Turbo tax stopped supporting Win7 so, I had no choice but to enlist a friend and we built my current Rig to run Win10. The worlds most expensive tax return rig ran about 3500$ including my monitor. That was more than my Tax refund that year, LOL. Of course my old Rig was literally 12 years old, so I was overdue for an upgrade but still. Use DLSS and that will help your Rig grind out a decent FPS but it will sacrifice a bit of eye candy.
