I had a story that suppose to follow that ….

I guess it is like jokes when points are left out.
Anyway, I was so thrilled and happy when it came. I learned how to operate it in every way. And then just stopped flying it.
It is such a pleasant and easy module with lot of capabilities. I guess SU 25 and a chopper distracted me

I'll bet a lot of guys will come back to it after it's had it's face lift. :)

I only learned how to fly the F-5 after I had become a fairly decent DCS Tomcat pilot.  The F-5 had been sitting around for a while, but it’s time had come.  It is a really wussy plane.  Might as well remove the pilot, automate it, and turn it into a cruise missile.

(Impression after going to it from the Heatblur F-14?)

What I do not get is why the SU 25 is not getting a upgrade

It is just a gem

Like a modern sturmovik

Ever tried the c4 mod. It make F 5 feel stable

I was really just joking around, Lusekofte, it’s a great module.  You got me a stick of Beemen’s, Ridley?  I might just have a few drinks and pull it out of the Hangar tonight.

You're welcome.

Now pretty please, with sugar on top - go fly the goddamn Tomcat or Jug.

Thanks much for the feedback , I really appreciate it, but reckon I best get to reading the manual at this point cause I have no idea what I am actually doing. I start selecting some plane markers on the map and it starts drawing a line to them rather than tell me who they are, no idea how to find my aircraft to even think about changing anything. Only planes I see at the cold start of the mission is Spits but when selecting one in ME it shows it is as A-10.

Again I just have no clue what they heck I am doing in there.

Thanks for trying , I will try to set aside some time for studying up on the ME basics.

The plane player have in me is either client or player. Are you sure you found the correct mission?

can you tell me what mission and I look into it.

^ He mentioned Spitfire cold start mission on Channel map. I don't own this map so can't assist.

Unlike GBS, the fuel systems in DCS are fully modelled and the tanks independant; if you see any fuel level in the tank over your shoulder you'll know that could be part of the issue.

However, I suspect your issues may stem from not having rudder and aileron fully coordinated.

I have now verified that you are completely correct!  In VR (I haven't installed Necksafer for DCS yet) had to actually stand up to see the gauge and it was empty - so the "Instant Action" doesn't penalize the P-51 with full tanks as you and @Art-J suspected.  Paid more attention to the ball and had better control, but I am still having to practice not being quite as aggressive on the stick.  Work in progress...thank you all :salute:

You have to go to the base where your aircraft is.

It really couldn’t be more simple.

It’s aa easy as changing the weather.

Lol ok then. All that does is insult me but that is ok I admit I just don't get it.

Weather and time of day I had zero problem with.

Other problems now , Gunfighter appears to have gone tits up so everything flight sim related on hold now ugh.

Well dodged a bullet there. Not sure what happened but controller inputs got all screwed up in my Gunfighter. This was right after setting up my controls for the Spit as it had been a while. After that they all got screwed up and I ended up having to reflash the firmware of the Gunfighter and set my controls back up in DCS for the Spit again. I mean they were all milssing.  Afraid to check IL-2 again lol for fear of going through this again. Although I have no idea how that could have had anything to do with it.

I regularly back up the controls folder for dcs onto my desktop,  just in case something happens,  and could then just copy it back in, just as a precaution for that very event....

Yeah I normally do that and have it done for the Hornet, however the Spit I just recently started flying and had not done so yet. I will now for sure lol.

?

It’s not like we’re talking JDAM’s and you’re having trouble, and I said “it couldn’t be more simple”  (I have no clue about JDAMs)

Step 1 - open the editor and find the base where your flight is. Not another base.

Step 2 - find your aircraft. Not another aircraft. Not a static aircraft. You should know by now where you’re at, and where you’re parked.

Step3 - double click ON your aircraft. Not once on it, then once off - thereby creating a waypoint.

Step 4 - see illustration above.

Alternatively - place another Spit and set AI to player. Just as easy.

Either operation is as simple as changing the weather once you get where to go. :)

I’d change it for you and post - but I don’t own the Spit. I do however have the Jug…and Tomcat. Did I mention the Tomcat?

Don’t feel too bad about the editor, dburne; at least you know how to use something as simple as a JDAM, unlike Gambit and Lusekofte.  I’ll bet those guys can’t even figure out a Walleye!

I do not know what the heck happened with my Gunfighter earlier to get it all messed up. I went in to set up my controls again in IL-2 so I could test it with the new 4090 GPU. The game asked if I wanted to use a previous controller or something like that and I said yes, as all I had done iwth my current hardware in the last few months was flashing the firmware. Well that screwed everything up , somehow even the VKB sofware and settings. Axis were not being reported properly in VKB software nor button presses. I literally thought the stick was fried. Finally after much effort I was able to reflash the stick and get everything back.

It was quite strange and not sure how IL-2 managed to do that to my Gunfighter setup. Very wierd.

All is well now though thank goodness. This time when I went back in to set up controllers when it asked me that question, I said NO!

No worries,  just be aware i changed the wind direction as well, so you'll be taking off from the other direction,  all you need to do is turn around and the runway is right in front of you ?

I actually think DCS has improved

in that regard. Relatively speaking that is.

Yeah... I didn't bother pre-ordering that one or the bubbletop XIV or the D.IV.  After the C-47 and that delay on top of piss poor communication the last few months since Jason's departure.. I just don't see myself pre-ordering a Great Battles (or whatever the "next version" is called...) product again.  Pre-orders require trust between the developer and the customer and it's just not there for me currently.

In contrast, RAZBAM (a much smaller team btw) has my trust they will deliver a stellar product not far beyond the pre-order date and have been communicating with their customers on a pretty consistent, almost daily basis, especially through discord.  Everyone has to makes their own decision when it comes to these things, our wallets are really the only way to show (or withdraw) support.

Well I am really greasing my take offs and landings now, no tire squeal  and no wing tip overs. Reckon I should go ahead now and move on to a campaign. Why do today what I can put off till tomorrow, few more practice flights on my favorite cold start mission custom made for me. Tomorrow I will join the battle.

Glad the mission is OK for you?

Despite having far to many modules already that I've bought, cause some other Dangerdogz are getting into DCS a bit, we've been flying the Scooter to wet there appetite, as its a fantastic free mod, which has a hell of a lot functionality built into it.

Most importantly, it has Snake Eyes, which has got to be the most fun type of any bomb ever....

Might install the A 4. I like the easy going in the F 5.
