Ahh...well unlimited time is never going to happen.

I see lots of guys flying DCS and I'm sure most of them have jobs, wives, pets, other hobbies and I'm betting they sleep.

I'll make it work...eventually.

Not trying to scare you off by the way, it's just i've been down the dcs hell hole of getting hyped for a cool module, buying it and not having enough time to really get into it, then seeing another cool module, buying it, and so on.

I hear you.

I can see that happening in my case.

I don't have the most 'sim friendly' wife either.

I get away with the IL2 time that I do because normally I'm working in it.

It is not really the time for me. I had no problem getting in to MI 8 huey ka 50

For me it reach a point I no longer motivated to spend the time learning.

"Motivation" is a good word. I'm only motivated to learn what I consider fun to do. I will never learn to use the five radios in the A-10C, but I did learn to BRRRRRT! like a boss! And I will never learn to cross reference semi-infringed TACAN data via the fourth level of MFD subfuctions in the F-18, but I did learn to drop those voluptuous 2000LB GPS bombs from 50,000' and hit a bunker 30 miles away. Because dat chit is fun.

Each plane I buy has a kind of specialty function I want out of it. As long as I learn that, I don't care about the rest. I just want to fly and have fun.

It's perhaps more of an exercise in button pushing than flying, but it's just so high tech evil and fun. And apparently they can do that stuff in real life. Freaky.

Just tried DCS using the free VoiceAttack download and setting up a quick profile (literally 5 mins) and goodness it makes a world of difference. My carrier circuits are way better now. Not having to sneak a peak under the rift makes a world of difference. Thanks for the heads up whoever it was (sorry can't remember)

The guilty party/pimp is moi.

I've got profiles for about ten planes, but even just one master profile can cover a lot of bases in all the planes and free up a bunch of switches on the HOTAS. No question it makes flying a lot more seamless.

Are you using it with VR? You must look like an alien with the goggles and headphones and mic. I'm jealous.

I do not ( or say never) bother to set up lasting over 5 minutes even if it cost me 20 minutes every time I fly. And those twenty minutes makes me not fly at all.

I really do need to change strategy

The paid version of Voice Attack along with paid version of Vaicom Pro is pretty awesome with DCS.

I just Googled it and Vaicom helps you talk to the AI, is that it? I thought it was an MP tool.

Correct. It replaces the built in comm menu, all done via voice.

Has a bit of a learning curve but well worth it IMHO.

That is the problem with DCS in one sentence, and reasons for me only doing short missions once a week

Nice landing, but that is pretty benign compared to what Xplane would give you under the same circumstances.

You're shooting a raw-data ILS, and you're constantly fighting +/- 15-20kts windshear. Really easy to overspeed your flaps that way.

The worst part in DCS is the wimpy brakes.

You just have to put for 'stank' on that stick baby!

warning, I've never flown Xplane and have no idea what I'm talking about.

AH-64D coming is amazing news.

I loved Jane's Longbow (who didn't), EECH/EEAH, Apache : Air Assault ...

But ED did state in the past what was coming would be their most difficult module *ever* ... for them to create it (not hard to imagine why!), but I'm a bit afraid ... for us too.

I'll buy it in EA on day 1 but I'm afraid it is going to be near impossible to been flown by 1 human pilot unless the AI pilot would do most tasks on his/her own !?

But anyway ... if there was ever any ED DCS World module I could buy/keep it sure would be the ... Longbow  !

Joking aside, animated cows would be a nice addition for Tank Crew.

I skipped it - no interest.

I went from Janes F-15 to Falcon 4.0 to Flanker 2.0.

The Free to Play period will run for two weeks (22.12.20 10:00 PST - 05.01.21 10:00 PST), and it will allow you to access all DCS World modules for free with no time limitation within the two week period.

Will have a look at the P-47, but I am more curious for the Mossie which hopefully get released here and there in 2021.

I buy the Mosquito and the Corsair. I buy the Hind and Kiowa.
But I think that is it.
I regret:

F 5 good plane but no time flying it

F 16                    “

Mirage.              “

Viggen.              “

F18.                    “

Mig. 21 look aweful in VR

Spit do not like it

FW 190 do not like it

BF 109 do not like it

Planes I do not regret but do not fly

Gazelle

A10

Mig 15

Planes I fly most

Mi 8

yak 52

huey

SU 25 both

F 14

ka 50

P 47

I will not reccomend buying more than one plane for people that are new. Choose one module that has logistics like campaigns and are finnished as a first. Just to see if the concept fits

Similarly I have all of DCS modules and campaigns bar the last Mi8 campaign. To be fair I got 3/4 of my purchases at half price or less. The heli bundle was serious value which I took advantage of, and I got the Viggen with ~70% off in a flash sale. Regardless, as you say it`s impossible to be seriously proficient on all the modules at any one time, but it is good fun to hop into each of them when the urge/need arises. I like the F5 for its simplicity and yes the MiG 21 is a bit ugly in VR atm, but they all have their own quirks and I can get by on most of them. I like the Harrier and am more of a fan of the Hornet over the Viper, but the view in VR in the Viper is terrific. The Tomcat is a work of art but is more limited in its ability I feel as I`m more of a mud mover.

I will buy the Hind and the Apache, the Kiowa I`ll wait and see. I bought the collective control from the lad in Moscow who makes them, as seen on the the ED forum. It makes flying the helis a lot better. I also enjoy the all the WW2 stuff with the P-51 and P-47 my usual choice, the jug really is on another level on the WW2 front and yes the Mossie will be bought on release. I`m afraid when comes to combat flight simming the force is strong and unfortunately for my wallet undeniable, especially when it comes to the hardware side of things which puts software costs to shame.

I'm not so sure, lol. I recently made the mistake of looking at my DCS purchase history, and did not like the total amount showing in the calculator when adding them all up ?

The Hornet offers the most weapons and delivery modes of any module in DCS and flies nicely at subsonic speeds. Also has the carrier based ability. And is actively developed by ED so new modes get added with every update. Excellent choice with plenty to learn and explore. There are also good in-game tutorials for it (and additional scripted campaigns).
