Hi guys,
SimShaker Wings software version 2.22 is available in the beta channel.
https://simshaker.com/downloads/beta_SimShaker-Wings_Setup_v_2.22.msi

Changelog:

Added: The More Options -> GunFire 2 setting (slider) is now available for the IL-2. The logic is that the smallest or only caliber of the weapon depends on the GunFire slider. The remaining calibers depend on GunFire 2 one. Accordingly, the samples used by the program are also named gunfire and gunfire2

I encountered a serious problem with the update to this last version.

The new version installed correctly, but the next time I started the computer the pad started vibrating very strongly just as the computer started and it stopped only when I switched off the physical controller on the pad.

Since then neither Pad Handler displays Pad State: Unknown, and neither SimShaker-Wings nor SimShaker for Aviators are working.

All working perfectly before the update.

I desinstalled this new beta version and installed the released version, but still it does not work.

As per the logs in Sim-Shaker Wings or in the Pad Handler, it tries to connect to all the ports but does not find anything.

Any advice?

looks like a hardware issue while software update is just a coincedence.

Could be a coincidence, it is just weird that it happened exactly upon next reboot after the update.

What can cause the JetPad to vibrate by itself upon starting the computer?

Could you please help with the troubleshooting? I have the latest version of your JetPad.

Ι had a similar issue after the last update.

You can you check if the source folder from where simshaker takes the vibrating samples remains the same or if it has changed.

I'm sitting on a pad which is the same model as yours.
It works fine with SimShaker Wings beta version 2.22.
I reboot the computer, it still works perfectly fine.
I don't believe it may be caused by the SimShaker Wings software update.

What you describe is not a common issue.
I'd be more than happy to help you with troubleshooting but I'm afraid it's hard to point out remotely what's wrong with the hardware in a case like this right away.
I'm sorry.

Simshaker Pad state is "Unknown".

As per the logs it seems that the software cannot connect to the pad.

The light is bright green and I tried several USB ports, with no success.

I got Simshaker port connection issue in the past but SimShaker for Aviator was still managing to connect, here it does not.

What could potentially cause the JetPad to start vibrating by itself upon starting the computer?

It vibrated probably 5 seconds before I switch off the controller interruptor.

This part shows us that connection between the Pad controller and the PC is pure quality (again). This maybe a culprit.
Maybe it worth replacindg the USB cord with a shielded and shorter one if possible.
Something like this 1.8 m length micro-USB one

Thanks for your help. Much appreciated. I grew acustomed to the vibration and having a hard time to fly without.

How to replace it because the usb is connected directly into the controller box of the Jetpad?

Open up the controller box and you will see the way.

I opened the controller box and tried with several USB cables, including a 50cm shielded one, and I also tried with each of my computer USB ports, and no luck.

Now, Windows does not even detect anymore the plugging and unplugging of the USB device, as if it was completly dead.

I am no longer able to repeat the thing I managed to do yesterday, connecting it during 10 seconds though a USB hub.

Any other advice?

Also I am wondering what could potentially explain the JetPad going full vibration on all motors just upon a Windows restart, as I don t have configured the Simshaker to start automatically with Windows (except if it was changed with the installation of the new version)?

That's a pity it didn't help.

Return to the seller for repair or find somebody who can help nearby.

Obviously it's not the SimShaker Wings software as it was not started. Maybe it was due to a microcontroller, or a communication, or a switching chip malfunction inside the controller, temporarily or permanent. The box is small, but it contains a lot of elements. Maybe it was due to a some sort of an electric surge. I'm afraid the hardware questions are mostly beyond this software dedicated thread though.

For sure, it is not a power surge, it was plugged into a power surge protector device.

It is really disappointing.

I got the jetpad for 1 year, and I am using it maybe one or twice per week for sessions that are never longer than 2 hours, and I have it configured with very reasonsable medium strength for the actuators, as I do not like strong vibrations.

it worked perfectly for 1 year, and I was very happy with the jetpad and then it just died out of nowhere without any warning sign.

I was flying in the afternoon, all was perfectly fine. I installed the update, reboot the computer and it started vibrated by itself and then it did not connect anymore.

I understand it might be unrelated to the SW and this could be just a bad coincidence.

But, I was for sure not expecting this hardware to die so fast, especially after so little use, and because it is not a cheap.

There must have been something faulty with the controller.

I have to inquiry how to get this looked at and either replaced or fixed.

Hi Andre - hoping you can help!

I have a forcefeel, and have happily used it with Wings for many years - but for some reason I cannot fathom - Wings isn't picking up any telemetry.

Wings can pick up the forcefeel and motors test ok - I just get the message 'Listening for IL_2_Great_Battles UDP packets at port 29373. If there is no signal yet, please refer to Integration section of SimShaker-Wing User Guide'.

I've checked and rechecked the data.startup.cfg file. I use SRS everynow and again so have the two sections needed.

Seems like whenever I run the game the startup.cfg file is being altered somehow. I've tried setting it to read only - but still no effects....

Any ideas/advice?

edit - version 2.21 btw

Hi SIA_ArcTander,

Everything looks good. I think it should just work.
Does SRS work?
Maybe you've got VPN enabled? It can affect the telemetry stream.

Hi Andre,

Yes - that was it. Turned off the VPN and it worked again.....  So I don't have to remember to disable it when playing, are there any specific applications/files I need to add to split tunneling to have it work without disabling the entire VPN ?

Thanks

Thank you for the update.
Well, I would try to add the game itself to the split tunneling as the game sends data packets which should not be routed to the virtual network.

The packets must stay within your PC on the local loopback interface with address  127.0.0.1.

Hello André, I have an HF8 Pro and I'm wondering if it works with SimShaker Wings (I have the license) because I only see the HF8 pad and it's grayed out for me.

I can get vibrations with SimHub but not for weapons.

Do you have any advice?

Hello Kriss,
Good question. Yes, it works. You just need to get the option here

Many thanks, André.

I've just bought the add-on for HF8 and HF8 pro.
