SimShaker - Wings support thread for IL-2 users

G'day,

My apologies if this has been answered before. (Lots of posts to read through.) SimShaker is amazing. It really adds another dimension to my motion simulator that was difficult to implement.

I can fly around and enjoy the immersion of the tactile feedback from SimShaker along with the physical motion of the rig while recording the flight. However on replay of the recorded flight the motion is replayed but not the SimShaker output. I am hazarding a guess that the replay API is not honouring the [Telemetry Device] output but I wanted to check that I was not missing a setting before bringing it up with 1CGS.

Thanks,

Hello Taurus,

I'm not sure there is any settings to control this. I believe the game just doesn't expose the portion of telemetry [Telemetry Device] which SimShaker mostly relies upon.

Don't even know if the telemetry stream gets captured in recordings but that would be a really good wish list item if it doesn't. You can put one of your friends in the cockpit with the pad and/ or bass shaker thumping away watching a recording. Something like that might help sell a few more copies of the game I'd think. Just sayin!

Hi,

none of those, but the left one should be fine if its connector fits.

sorry to resurrect but now, after moving houses, i can't even find that charger :). can you tell me what the Amp and Voltage output should be of the 'right' power supply?

do you mean a power supply unit for JetSeat/JetPad?

About buttkicker

If I remember correctly , in the past I could set the control for my buttkicker once - but now and for a while I have to do it every time I start the game ???

Thanks again for this. So, I now found out that one of the pins in the multi-pin connector broke (in the cable on the left below). Is there any way to get a replacement part from you?

No worries. Hopefully last question, what sort of DIN connector is this? DIN13?

I have sim shaker aviator for DCS and it works perfectly. I got Sim Shaker Wings and I cannot get IL2 to work. I have put in the additional telemetry and motion portion into the startup.cfg file. When i load up IL2 shoot or do anything, i get no vibration feedback. I did do test and that works where i can feel vibration. Only thing funny i noticed is that it says its preset and game mode is always Falcon BMS. And i can change the preset to IL2 great battles xml ... But i cant change the game mode out of Falcon BMS. I do use SRS so i added the additional addr2 part. With and without that cant get it to work. I am using steam version. I have also tried increasing amplified volume but nothing comes through. I have buttkicker2 Gamer2 Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

Thank you for the feedback.

Falcon BMS false positive detection may be due to a process with the "Hub" name running on the PC. Could you please check with Task Manager if you have got such a process, and if so, can you stop it?

Posted

Okay I saw the 'Hub' running on my PC, I ended task and I startup IL2 and then start Sim Shaker Wings and still it shows Falcon BMS. I have now completely uninstalled Falcon BMS is there an overall program named Hub to shut off permanently? Is there a way to default preset to IL2 instead of Falcon BMS or permanently disable Falcon BMS manually from keying in? Or if you have other ideas i'm all ears. Thanks for the help.

I don't think Falcon BMS or the preset selected is a culprit in this case, if you don't keep Falcon BMS Launcher Hub running all the time. I believe you don't.

There must be some other running process with the "Hub" as the process name on which SimShaker Wings reacts.

I will try to make some changes in SimShaker Wings algorithm in the very next version to prevent a situation like this.
But a quick workaround would be to find the process in the Task Manager, identify to which software it belongs and somehow disable it.
What's your Windows system number BTW? If it's Win 11 there is the Search tool in the Task Manager.

What software that "Hub" belonged to?

My previous response was somehow cutoff there sorry about that.
I am on Windows 10 Home.
I had Sim Hub installed and now completely uninstalled that too.
For some reason the software can't detect it seems when IL2 is being launched I think.
It does seem that when I hit the test it the sim shaker software is hooked up bc i feel a vibration.
There was a "Hub" process in there, I disabled it. Restarted Sim Shaker wings and IL2 BOS and still nothing. I'll try a few other things, but ultimately the fix you are mentioning would be amazing. Thank you for your quick response and diligence.

Andre thanks for the support, you were able to resolve all my issues with the butt kicker and Sim Shaker Wings.

New Question for you:
I recently got VPForce Rhino, this is a Force Feedback Base for a Flight Stick.
I was wondering if it was possible to add a second Force Feedback output to this VPForce Rhino Base and allow for a separate customization of forced isolated to the flight stick? Reason is currently it works but all the forces are weak except the wheels hitting the ground are so much more it's too much.
Any future plans with FFB Flight Stick base support?

I'm not sure I take you right. Do you want me to provide some vibration feedback individually to a flight stick?

Posted (edited)

I found that they have a complete suite, don't worry at all it's extremely in depth FFB I think they have it covered.
However, I encountered a conflict of mixed channels when I try to do the settings.

VPforce Rhino Manual - Google Docs
Page 46.

So it mentioned I have to use decimation = 1 instead of 2.

If possible could you point me in a direction of how not to have conflict?
Right now the FFB stick works but the others conflict;

Sim Shaker outputs this error:
'12:1:36.935 PBE AddMixerInput Exception: Too many mixer inputs'

IL2 SRS outputs a like kind error.
Any help to integrate your sim shaker wings with this would be greatly appreciated.

Maybe addr2 cannot be used.

If so I wonder how to add ffb flight stick, buttkicker, and SRS.

[KEY = motiondevice]
    addr = "127.0.0.1"
    addr1 = "127.255.255.255:34385"
    decimation = 1
    enable = true
    port = 29373
[END]

[KEY = telemetrydevice]
    addr = "127.0.0.1"
    addr1 = "127.255.255.255:34385"
    addr2 = "127.0.0.1:4322"

Update: I tried this and this works below to add VPForce Rhino + Sim Shaker Wings Buttkicker.

[KEY = telemetrydevice]
    addr = "127.0.0.1"
    addr1 = "127.255.255.255:34385"
    decimation = 1
    enable = true
    port = 29373
[END]

How would I add in another one for IL2 SRS to get it to work???
I tried the following and it just come up with errors

[KEY = telemetrydevice]
    addr = "127.0.0.1"
    addr1 = "127.255.255.255:34385"
    addr2 = "127.0.0.1:4322"
    decimation = 1
    enable = true
    port = 29373
[END]

I don't know if IL-2 can address more than 2 destinations.
In SimShaker Wings at Advanced Options tab there is the UDP Forwarding feature.

It re-sends UDP packets received by Wings to another port/address of your choice.

You can try to set it up instead of the addr2 = "127.0.0.1:4322"

Hello Andre this is Jim who had some email conversation few days ago..  i  wish to you and to everyone a happy new Year!!!

i am posting here in case someone else has any similar experience or knowledge to help for what i am searching..

I already decided to add one big low response in Hz bass shaker ( dayton bst ex 300) under my chair and the back of it so two pieces of them. After that  I am trying to decide if i have to add additional bass shakers ( bst-1) on the left and on the right side of my chair in stereo configuration.  So can you please tell me which effects ( fx ) of your simshaker program have stereo configuration ( flaps, touchdown, e.t.c,  i am especially interested in G-force effects and Stall effects )...i mean your program gives telemetry information in case i stall from the left or the right side of the plane or i i accept g-forces to the left or the right side?

In case simshaker sends left-right telemetry data for stall and g-effects is it a good idea to put left-right dayton bst ex300 under my chair and not only one in the center of it since this bass shaker vibrates better in stall and g-effect frequencies which are quite low?

( does dayton bst-1 vibrates well when stall or g-effects happens....this bass shaker works better in higher frequencies than bst ex300)

Thank you in advence!

Hi. Does anyone have a problem with vibrations in Dakota over140 knots? Simshaker reporting Stall. Below 140 is OK. I checked gear, intakes, coolers, cockpit glass etc.

Hi @Andre Can you take a look at my post above?

Hi =LG=Gora_,

Well, I would suspect a bug in the game telemetry, but it looks like no one else has this issue. Not sure how can I help with this at the moment. Sorry.

OK, I will report this in the BUG section. Thank you Andre.,

Very big thank you to Andre for helping me out recently with a problem concerning my JetPad and SimShaker.

Andre is super helpful and I highly recommend him to anyone thinking of getting a JetPad and or SimShaker from him.  His after sales support is brilliant.  :clapping:

Happy landings,

Talisman

I downloaded the simshaker software and tried to get it set up with the HF8 seat pad I've just bought, but after getting everything plugged in and adjusted the software now says the demo is over. I'm not willing to buy the software without even being able to verify that it works, especially as I apparently have to buy an addon for compatibility as well.

I'm quite happy to buy it if it works, but it feels like the timing on the test period is trying to pull one over on me, to be honest.

Is it possible from the data received by IL2 for simshaker to produce a different response depending on the caliber of the weapon?

Vibration induced by shooting a 30mm or 47mm shell with a canon shall be significantly different from bullets fired with .303 small machine guns.

Same question for bomb if there is anyway to differentiate releasing 1000kg bomb or 50kg bomb, as per the data sent from IL2.

Many thanks in advance,

Y.

it depends on the telemetry data that simshaker receives from il2...

For information for everyone else, as my trial timed out while I was trying to get it set up, Andre gave me an extended code so I could test it properly.

It's working very well and I'll definitely be buying the software once he reopens the store.

My job involves tuning the motion cues for level D professional simulators, and stall buffet (the onset especially) is a difficult effect to get right, but what the simshaker software is outputting is doing a very good job of it. "Riding" the earlier onset via the tactile feedback is as easy to do as it is in a real aeroplane.

The game provides some data making such a differentiation potentially possible. I think the main problem is how to properly manage this information in the context of the diversity of the aircrafts presented. Especially if you've never experienced it in real life. So I've had to make some simplifications and generalizations.

Thanks for your answer, Andre. So, is there any distinction currently implemented in SimShaker between small caliber weapon and bigger cannon?

Yes, there is. Projectile Mass, Shoot Velocity, Number of shots are taken into account. Where I tested, the results were quite satisfactory in my opinion.

But I do not have the opportunity to test all combinations of aircraft and weapons. I didn't set myself such a goal.

Excellent, I didn t get to appreciate that level of details with the HF8, which is more ON/OFF and not so responsive, but I am sure it must be much better refelected on the jeat seat.

Any distinction made for bombs ordonnance weight in term of feedback?
