Redglyph Posted December 30, 2019 Posted December 30, 2019 (edited) IL-2 4.003b In career mode, Bodenplatte, as a German pilot, I landed at Kelz instead of Köln-Wahn because I didn't have enough fuel left. Kelz is still in friendly territory at this stage, and far from the front line. The landing was fine, no dammage before or after landing, I stopped normally and the mission objectives had been met. When I quit the mission, I was told everything was fine, mission successful, take-off / objectives / landing in green. But after that in the planning room I saw that my plane was "crashed", which is not correct. I did that at least once before and never had this wrong penalty, I suppose it's a bug that popped-up in the recent updates. Or is that intended? Edited December 30, 2019 by Redglyph added map
1CGS LukeFF Posted December 30, 2019 1CGS Posted December 30, 2019 Based on discussions in the closed beta test forums, this is working properly.

Do you mean that it's the intended behaviour? So even if I get the message "xxx landed successfully", if that's the wrong airfield it will show a crashed airplane in the mission report (on the planning page)? Or do you mean that it can't be reproduced? I haven't tried on my side, but I could check if I can reproduce it with a track or more info.

Yes, the way it was explained to me is that it is working correctly. IIRC, it has to do with the fact that you landed at an airfield other than your own or (if applicable) the home field of the fighter escort. One way to look at is that, since you landed at an airfield other than your own, it will take extra time to get your plane repaired and on its way back to your home airfield. @Habu, @Sneaksie, does that sound correct?
Redglyph Posted December 31, 2019 Author Posted December 31, 2019 Ah OK (the plane shouldn't be lost though, I didn't check the numbers)... but I'd be happy to fly back there myself, all I need is a little bit of avgas Perhaps an idea of ferry mission in the future. 1
Jaegermeister Posted January 9, 2020 Posted January 9, 2020 The program considers landing off your linked runway and land command as an emergency landing, forced landing or crash, depending on exactly where you land. (road, runway, field, etc.). Those are all considered crashes by the scoring system I believe. You can set up a mission to have emergency landing areas, but they have to be linked to the player aircraft.
Redglyph Posted January 11, 2020 Author Posted January 11, 2020 In real life even today, a diversion airport is usual, it's even part of the fuel budget that you must calculate before departure. So it's surprising that it's counted as a crash penalty. It's even less expected to have two different results shown on the debrief and on the HQ planning page. But I suppose it's extra work to indicate "forced landing" or "diversion" in case the user lands in a XX-minute radius along the planned route (as long as it's friendly territory and airfield), instead of "crash". Or at least not the highest priority. It would indeed be great to have to refuel (and/or repair minor damage) and ferry back to the designated airfield, as a next mission or even in the same mission. Perhaps when refueling is fully implemented, that could be a first way to handle this. 1
