[=PzG=]-Southernbear Posted December 19, 2019 Posted December 19, 2019 I've heard tons of praise from the new AI update but something I've been wondering is this, How can I most effectively make the AI spawn and fight me in multiplayer and Career mode? As an Australian I have worse internet than Kenya and as such 90% of the Serves of IL-2 multiplayer will kick me after about 10min due to ping, the server I do go on is The Unprofessional Server because it is Australian based but of course it rarely sees 6 to 8 people which only happens if there is a good map being played and any higher numbers only happen with organised fly outs or new content is dropped. As you can imagine this means I fly alone a lot and I'm wondering how I can best...well piss off the AI? So it will spawn and come and fight me...otherwise the only useful thing to do is fly bombers and while the 262 can quench my thirst for both being in a fighter and doing something useful with bombs it isn't all that efficient compared to other bombers and only is available on some servers (same goes for the P-51 and P-47 although they are a lot more effective Fighter-Bombers)
Gambit21 Posted December 19, 2019 Posted December 19, 2019 You can’t “piss off” the AI. Use the QMB, fly the career or a scripted campaign.
Stoopy Posted December 19, 2019 Posted December 19, 2019 But come to think of it, having a new AI option above Veteran or Ace, called "Pissed Off" could be interesting and fun... 1

Inigo Montoya mode. You have to unlock it by killing his father in the Career. /you killed my father //prepare to fly 5
BlitzPig_EL Posted December 19, 2019 Posted December 19, 2019 (edited) What Gambit said. Start a career in single player, or, fire up the QMB and pick your favorite ride, then choose your most feared enemy plane as your opponent in single waves of attackers, or a flight of them, and set them to the highest level and try to survive. In fact its been an issue in the past (less so now) that every enemy fighter in range will glom onto you at once. AI spawning in MP is based on the mission designer's choice of where, when, and how they spawn. Berloga spawns AI when player numbers are lower, for example. Not all servers will spawn AI, and if they do, its up to you to find them. Mission settings may make them focus on other things such as ground attack but if its a fighter its likely to engage you the moment it sees you. In Career mode, AI spawning is dictated by the mission. On occasion, you will fly missions and see no enemy opposition. There is a bit of bug on some air cover missions where the AI will spawn and show up after you leave. It doesn't happen on all missions, and its debatable whether its a bug or working as intended. You can increase the number of AI flying around by increasing the Frontline Density setting, as this will generate more random AI flights and missions in your area and increase the likelihood that you will spot or run into enemies.

Get with whomever is making the missions for the Aussie server you frequent and ask them to install more random ambush Check Zones that become activated during low player count around the general ingress and egress routes of the objectives. For Career mode. That is entirely up to the way that the Devs have programmed their logic according to plane, nationality, circumstance and mission generation.

And now he's spawned to dogfight us, for what we done to Ned.
Tyberan Posted December 19, 2019 Posted December 19, 2019 I didn't realise there was an Aussie server, I'll have to give it a go. I'm pretty much in the same boat despite being one of the lucky ones with Fttp(Australian NBN will know what I'm talking about). I usually just go qmb due to time constraints anyway, the tyranny of distance for us is that most servers are on the other side of the planet. But I'm going to check out that server tonight.

Should be back up, the Admin has had power outages and had to leave for work so if you have free time during the day you probably won't see the server till the afternoon
Tyberan Posted December 20, 2019 Posted December 20, 2019 (edited) Cool I'll give it a go. Is it east coast based? Power outages probably due to the fires Edited December 20, 2019 by Tyberan
SYN_Speck Posted December 20, 2019 Posted December 20, 2019 I'd recommend the scripted campaigns for AI fights. I've been slowly (with my limited flight time these days) working my way through "Ten Days of Autumn" and really have found it fun, much more so than setting up QMB fights. I find the QMB frustrating, as 8v8 is the max, and half the enemy (or more) tend to fly straight off to a distant waypoint while the other half engage in the fight. The scripted campaigns will usually set you up with one or more interesting confrontation(s) each mission. They do require a bit more time than a simple QMB dogfight, but not really all that much more if you're willing to use autopilot and time compression for part of it. Cheers!

Firstly; to set up some interesting AI action try this - MUCH better than the QMB https://sites.google.com/view/il2-great-battles-emg/home If you want some AI multiplayer action why not launch your own dogfight server and fly against 'em there? It's really simple. I've attached a little mission we use as a warm up on our squads server. I think it was originally one of Vander's coop missions that we 'adapted'? Unzip the contents into your games dogfight folder found by this path Program Files (x86)\1C Game Studios\IL-2 Sturmovik Battle of Moscow\data\Multiplayer\Dogfight In this mission the AI are pissed off ALL the time Within this file you'll also find the missions from every dogfight server you've been on. You can launch them too if you want. Don't worry about passwords as although you'll be able to join, unless you've opened the correct ports on your router, no one else will be able to. Good luck 001-syn - coop 07 no extra ai respawn_112318.zip
Nolly Posted December 21, 2019 Posted December 21, 2019 (edited) @Southernbear @Tyberan If you are on the unprofessionals discord there is a nascent "weekly fly out" that just started going... Sunday night's at 7pm Sydney time. Come along tomorrow and/or introduce yourself on the discord at that time? Might be lower numbers due to Xmas, but we had about 15 pilots the other week. https://discord.gg/47BQc3a Edited December 21, 2019 by jnoelcq
