wju Posted November 21, 2019 Posted November 21, 2019 settings realism/custom cannot switch off the turbulence; checking "No-wind" in Simplification does not work is it the bug? Do I something wrong?
wju Posted November 25, 2019 Author Posted November 25, 2019 dear friends, can anyone confirm/disprove the statement above?
wju Posted November 28, 2019 Author Posted November 28, 2019 ...really no one? does this option "No wind" really works to all except me? weird... ?

Are you flying in SP or do you experience this in MP? Because in MP, you cannot change/modify any weather situation - it is determined by the server administrator like many other things like GPS, icons and complex engine management. But if you have those troubles in single player mode (SP), then it might be an issue with your read/write attributes of your game directory. Check your game directory's properties and have a look, if the directory is "write protected". If so, that might explain the problem you encounter and to cure this, just change the properties and uncheck "read only" option, set apply and OK. Try again.

sniperton Posted November 29, 2019 Posted November 29, 2019 (edited) Confirmed. It seems that the "no wind" setting doesn't have any effect for fighters. Tested with zero turbulence (as it's a completely different matter) and max possible wind. Kuban map autumn, LaGG-3, altitude 1500, flight path initially pointing towards a mountain peak, hard crosswind, level autopilot engaged, "no wind" checked in settings. The plane keeps direction, the compass heading doesn't change, but the plane actually drifts sidewards and passes by the mountain peak several hundred meters downwind. PS. I guess the setting is there for level bombers, so its functionality should be re-tested in bombers with activated bombsight. Edited November 29, 2019 by sniperton
wju Posted November 30, 2019 Author Posted November 30, 2019 @snipertonthanks for confirmation! * wind vs turbulence - yes, it is different matter, but turbulence is much easier to detect and option "no wind" is supposed to eliminate both as written in option´s note * fighter vs bomber - I have just test it in A-20, both in cockpit and bombsight view: "No wind" has no effect for both is there a way how to report it to developers to fix it?
sniperton Posted November 30, 2019 Posted November 30, 2019 @wju, yep, I think the best place to report it (with instructions how to do it):
Geezer Posted April 6, 2023 Posted April 6, 2023 (edited) Sorry to necro this thread. Was this addressed? It persists for me. To clarify, it only happens to me when flying a campaign. Specifically Wild Mustangs and Lightning Strikes. When wind is turned on, the sim behaves normally. Wind effect is commensurate with the parameters as stated in the mission brief. However, when wind is turned off, it blows much harder. To the point where I cannot successfully execute a strafing run. Pretty annoying, so I just leave it on. None of the other settings are affected. Edited April 6, 2023 by Mysliwiec
