Hello all! I can't seem to re-enter IL-2 from the WMR beach house after I've loaded, and then later, exited IL-2. I can see my desktop screen in my beach house, but when I start IL-2, it only opens the windowed split screen on my desktop and I don't leave the beach house view and enter the game. The only work around I've found is by exiting WMR and restarting my PC. It's very frustrating, especially if I want to try changing graphic settings and need to restart IL-2. Has anyone ever had the same problem with WMR? I'd appreciate any help. S!

The problem is that SteamVR does not disconnect when you exit IL2.

After exiting IL2 close WMR. That will end SteamVR and WMR.

Thanks for the reply. I do close everything, and then I perform my usual VR startup sequence (which may or may not be correct), and everything seems normal until I launch IL-2. When I do, instead of seeing the exploding triangles graphic, the split screen IL-2 window opens up and I don’t know how to exit the beach house and enter the game.

I probably need a new way to launch IL-2. The best way that I know how, is:

1) I put on my headset and I’m told to look around and then I’m sent to the WMR beach house.
2) I navigate to my desktop display that is projected on my beach house wall, and I select my desktop to activate it.
3) I double click the IL-2 icon on my desktop and  click on START once the launcher is done loading.
4) I see the exploding triangle graphic as IL-2 loads and I am soon inside the hangar where I am asked to login or play offline.

Like I said, maybe there’s a better way to launch IL-2.  I’d love to hear of a better way, especially if it doesn’t require removing and refitting my headset repeatedly (which I don’t need to do with my current routine).

This is the way I do it with O+.

Thanks @CDRSEABEE. Are you able to get back in? I can’t unless I restart my PC.

Yes but I

-turn off the WMR window

-Put on headset and the wmr automatically opens up with the desktop in it.

BTW. Do you sometimes have to unplug your headset when booting up your computer? Maybe it boots up in the headset, I am not sure never looked. I always plug in the headset after booting up. Then turn off the WMR window, do what I want to get ready to fly then put on the headset.

Yeah, don’t even get me started on that issue. Where do these headset manufacturers think the hdmi plugs are for our headsets?! There’s no way I’m gonna slide out my desktop and navigate through a dozen other cords to plug in my headset every time I want to use it. Would it be so difficult to give us a power on/off switch for gosh sake?!?!

i digress... anyway, I leave it plugged in all the time and I manually close the WMR window after I start up my PC, unless I’m going to use VR right away. It wakes up whenever I actually put them on, so it always works great the first time.

My sequence is to first start WMR and move the headset left, right, up and down for it to orient itself.

I then minimize WMR and hold the headset up in front of my face and click on the icon to launch IL2 before putting the headset on.

When finished I exit the game, remove the headset and close WMR. This method avoids the cliff house. To get back into the game I start the sequence over again.

I'd like to add you should use the IL2. exe shortcut to launch the game rather than the update launcher icon that was downloaded with the game.

The update launch continues to run in the background while you fly looking for updates and hindering performance. The IL2.exe file is located in - D:\Program Files (x86)\1C Game Studios\IL-2 Sturmovik Great Battles\bin\game. Scroll down to the red star that says simply "IL2" application and right click to send to desktop as shortcut.
