Drano Posted August 5, 2020 Posted August 5, 2020 Question about installing this mod. I'm using JGSME and have other mods working just fine but this particular one just doesn't seem to be working. I move it to the right side in JGSME as usual but when I select the photo in-game I still have the original girlie pic in the cockpit. I've found if I simply rename the existing stock cockpit photo and copy to the folder the one in the mod--that works, but I oughta be able to do it with JGSME, right? Is there a trick to it? Gotta be easier than going plane by plane (which I can certainly do)? I'm wondering if it's a conflict with another mod? I do get a notification like that. I am using Oyster_Kai's 4K cockpits(which are very nice) and RowdyB00t's better clouds(also very nice) as well but it doesn't seem to matter if I deactivate every other mod but this one. I still don't get the notes--just the pic. Thanks in advance.
sniperton Posted August 5, 2020 Posted August 5, 2020 1 hour ago, Drano said: when I select the photo in-game I still have the original girlie pic in the cockpit The trick is that you shouldn't do anything except enabling this mod via JSGME. You don't need to select anything in-game. Just to double-check: 1. Enable the mod. 2. Go to data\graphics\Planes\[AnyPlane]\Textures\custom_photo.dds. 3. Open it with XnView or anything that reads dds format. Report back if it's still a girl and specify the plane type. (In my version of PNCP WWI planes and recent additions such as the Yak9 are not covered.)

(In my version of PNCP WWI planes and recent additions such as the Yak9 are not covered.) Yeah that's what I'm saying. In game I'm not "selecting" anything other than the photo in the plane setup but I'm not even seeing the note dds image in the plane folder, as if JGSME hadn't moved it. I'm not doing anything other than the usual, it's just this particular mod doesn't seem to be doing anything at all in JGSME. It shows up in the list. I move it to enabled, but nothing happens. If I disable all mods and enable only this one--nothing happens. If I enable all of the others, as I've said in the OP, I get a notification it may be a conflict. Dunno why as it hasn't apparently done anything that would conflict with anything having not moved anything! Just strange. and yeah other than the one plane I manually changed the file to the modded one I still get the girl.
sniperton Posted August 6, 2020 Posted August 6, 2020 10 hours ago, Drano said: Yeah that's what I'm saying. So you're saying that after enabling PNCP in JSGME the custom_photo.dds file in the data\graphics\Planes\[AnyPlane]\Textures\ folder is still showing the girl when opening it with an image viewer? (In "plane setup" it's always the girl that's shown, no matter the mod). If this is the case (stock dds file hasn't been replaced with modded file), 1. check if the stock dds files are not set to read-only; 2. disable all mods in JSGME; 3. check the JSGME folders !BACKUP and !INSTLOGS and delete any leftover files there; 4. re-enable your preferred version of PNCP, say, PNCP Base Version. 5. check again any custom_photo.dds file with an image viewer. Hope it helps
Drano Posted August 6, 2020 Posted August 6, 2020 The only dds file in each folder is the original one with the girl. All those display the girl pic in the cockpit. The only folder that contains the note dds file is the one I moved manually and renamed the stock girl file. old. That one contains both. That plane does display the note in place of the girl as it should. I had not checked if they were read only. Hadn't thought of that. As we use mods in the game it hadn't occurred they would be.
Drano Posted August 7, 2020 Posted August 7, 2020 Found it. I'd had folders out of sequence. That'd do it! Thanks for your help!
TAIPAN_ Posted August 20, 2020 Posted August 20, 2020 Hi @SAS_Storebror Thanks for the Mod! very useful now I've just got VR. Also nice to see the old ROF data in there I still remember testing those spins 10 years ago. I've heard FC has revised flight models, but I haven't had much chance to fly it yet unfortunately. Just noticed the name of the graphics subfolders for the Bristol fighter folders are wrong, it should be BristolF2BF2 & BristolF2BF3 instead of BristolF2B2 & BristolF2B3. By coincidence it was the first plane I tested because I was trying out the Aldis in VR. Thanks! 1

I shared that data with Mike to help him add FC pilots notes 1 1

I've been flying mostly the WWII birds (thanks to this Pilots Notes mod), but FC is fantastic and FC2 would be very welcome, especially if it somehow included a D.VIII ! 1
SAS_Storebror Posted August 26, 2020 Author Posted August 26, 2020 I'm about to update the mod so I'm trying to make my way through bug reports and suggestions: On 5/30/2020 at 8:34 AM, JG4_dingsda said: To start the HS 129 from parking, the mixture has to be operated manually. Hello, I wanted to ask for a recommendation, first of all thank you for the work, 90% of our squad uses your cabin photos. My recommendation and if possible, is to include data such as the position for the release of bombs quantity / delay especially for the most frequent bombers and jabos since in the most realistic servers this is necessary, example below. Also add in airplanes like the P47 how many minutes of WEP each model has. Antiknock: D22 has 7 minutes, D28 15 minutes 190A8 BF110-G2 p47-28 +15 minutes Antiknock p47-22 +7 minutes Antiknock Edited August 26, 2020 by Ala13_UnopaUno_VR 1

I basically send everyone and her mother over to SAS to get this. Edited August 26, 2020 by JG4_dingsda

Dawg35 Posted September 18, 2020 Posted September 18, 2020 Not something the mod can fix but maybe IL2 Officialdom will take note: the Fw190 girlfriend picture / pilots note is extremely hard to see in VR, I have to crank my head way over and manually push my Oculus Rift down to see the note on the side of the cockpit. 1
Ala13_UnopaUno_VR Posted November 6, 2020 Posted November 6, 2020 @SAS_Storebror Good morning, with the arrival of the Hurri and in the past the P47 / 22 we were wondering in our Ala13 squad, if there are expectations of seeing an update of cockpit notes in the near future? We love your Mod, we recognize that it is one of the most useful, greetings and good health! 3 2
RavN_Sone Posted November 6, 2020 Posted November 6, 2020 Hey @SAS_Storebror, what font is that in the base version? Also, could you maybe add an empty template, with no information, to the pack? Thanks! 1

Not sure why the second isn't working seems fine for me. The second contains all, but you don't really need it. Just download the orginal mod of this topic and install and then do the same with the first link its basically just adding a folder to the orginal mod. Here's another link for the second link contains all of them with my adjustment- http://www.mediafire.com/file/nj6kqzd5rajbn9i/PNCP_Base_Version_-_Pilots_Notes_for_Cockpit_Photos.zip For anyone else that may be intrested or considering doing something similar I dont have the latest yaks so I wont be making them, but its really simple to make the file location is here- IL-2 Sturmovik Great Battles\data\graphics\Planes\planeyouwanttochange\Textures the file for the cockpit photo is in there. and then just follow this simple guide The only catch is making the image for the pilot notes but its just a list and all the information is in the specification tab in game so should not really be that difficult for someone to make, could be done on paint. kestrel79 Posted March 2, 2021 Posted March 2, 2021 Just downloaded and placed all of these in their proper folders. Wow! Such a help when flying in VR! I've even started turning the technochat off because I can glance at the photo now. Can someone attach the Hurricane one in something other than a .rar file? And where is the razorback P47 file again? Those are the only two I'm missing thanks!

I just realized I never created one for the P47 D22 for myself since I don’t intend to fly it. If someone wants to create their own that looks like the OP’s, I shared a link to a blank pilots notes a few posts above. I don’t know the OP’s original font, so I’ve been using Lucinda Sans typewriter regular sharp. The data is all from the briefing notes the devs provide in the game for each plane. I can’t remember where I got my .dds Photoshop plug-in, but I think it is freely available. Or you can find a similar plug-in with an open source photo editor that can open and save .dds file types.
