RNAS10_Oliver Posted January 10, 2020 Posted January 10, 2020 I jumped onto the JG1 server shortly after 20:00 and there was none. So after a sortie or two without anyone else hopped onto J5 and then about ten other pilots turned up. Even though its not the kind of numbers seen on the Sundays was great fun, for most part because got to use voice communications with another pilot and work as a team.

Plus there's plenty of opportunity for combined scout/2-seater missions. EDIT: I notice there's a new map on FC JG1 too. Tank Battle In The Mud. That should focus activities a bit! No.23_Triggers Posted January 10, 2020 Author Posted January 10, 2020 Had a blast yesterday messing around in the Camel, although I may have had a little too much dutch courage to fly the thing
NO.20_Krispy_Duck Posted January 10, 2020 Posted January 10, 2020 I found the second mission (the one with the small map and the oil facility up north) was pretty good. I liked the variety of balloon and ground targets, and the mixture of single and two seaters we had going for that.

I liked the fact we had a good pilot escorting us and keeping a ducks eye out for us, now we just need to get him a couple of wing men to help him out. By the way, the recon on the first map. We had 2 pilots do recon, started at 10,000 feet nothing happened, dropped all the way down to 4,000 ft and still nothing. Looked like it got done but by who? and how did they get it. Seems like we're having a bitch of a time doing these recons. In the J5 maps sometimes it can take us up to 15 passes to get a recon finished, way to long to be up there. Should be no more than 2 passes in a 2 hr map. In ROF I could do a recon in 2 passes if up high enough and over the target just right. 1 2
No.23_Gaylion Posted January 11, 2020 Posted January 11, 2020 My favorite part was klug turning around and attacking me thinking I was a hun after I had been in formation flying with him and the others for a bit. 2
NO.20_W_M_Thomson Posted January 11, 2020 Posted January 11, 2020 LOL , how did you fly with out laughing your head off.
US103_Baer Posted January 11, 2020 Posted January 11, 2020 (edited) Good fun as usual, with 2 maps in the 'US window', "Morning Patrol" and a new map "Not Bruay", which was smaller and had no D7s or Spads. Again a decent amount of Squads in action and JG1 in particular had a strong contingent out. Had trouble finding the low CL2s on the first map. They were around, knocking out targets, but it was like chasing ghosts and we couldn't find them when it mattered. Soon ran into higher scouts though and at one point had a D7 in trouble, but he was quickly joined by a Pfalz and Albatros, still ok, but then a higher Dr1 joined in and our 4 Spads were stuck co-alt with the lot. Exit, stage down. Eventually we lost Arras and our front field and the swarms of central scouts taking off from there made things tricky towards the end. The second map was a laugh. Went looking for trouble and found plenty with tons of huns in Pfalzs, Albs and Dr1s around Douai. Pandemonium, bickering and dollops of bs followed. Thanks to JG1 for hosting and creating a great little map. Stream replay with timestamps here https://youtu.be/VilEeaJBJmE Edited January 11, 2020 by US103_Baer 1

SeaW0lf Posted January 12, 2020 Posted January 12, 2020 Huge lag hit at the end (if it was caused by ping). Good flying, just one spin!

I think that the Halb gunner had time to recover from blackout . Would be good to compare timestamps in both sortie logs. If they don't I consider it a bug.
SeaW0lf Posted January 14, 2020 Posted January 14, 2020 Well, a 90% wounded gunner should not be doing much at all. I can't compare with us, but I think that at 90% we lose elevator control, it is hard to turn, etc. We basically go for a somewhat controlled crash. If we get lucky, we ditch into a pond. That gunner was jolly good bringing that cannon all the way to the right.
No.23_Gaylion Posted January 14, 2020 Posted January 14, 2020 (edited) Time for some testing it sounds. If I recall, when gunning and you get the wound blackout, the screen does not go black but the guns lock away and you can still look around. Edited January 14, 2020 by US213_Talbot

The aircraft essentially would act like it would with the pilot killed - a death-spin. No control surface input would do anything. Some of the Bosches have also reported not being able to bail past a certain level of injury. I would imagine that a gunner wounded that badly also wouldn't be able to do much of anything - much less swing a heavy Becker around like it's nothing! Edited January 14, 2020 by US93_Larner 1

They will try to shoot you down while in flames waiting for plane to explode or disappear , so wounds are no problem to them either ? 2

ShamrockOneFive Posted January 17, 2020 Posted January 17, 2020 Great time as always tonight on the fly-in! Great dogfights!

US103_Baer Posted January 17, 2020 Posted January 17, 2020 A crazy night that had lots of action high and low. Great to see so many up flying including plenty from SCG, No.20Sq, JG1, J30, 3rdPG and a bunch of indies. S! all. However the session started on a bad note. A shocking lag collision with Hang's D7 killed me instantly but left him untouched. The D7 just reversed back under mine as i was shooting him and next thing i'm all 3rd person. Amazing planes those D7s. Rubbish way to lose a 33 streak on the Flugpark and 54 Squadron Vlife, though a Hearing is being convened on the latter, just as soon as the Adjutant sobers up. Incident Footage here https://youtu.be/wcI1qCW03Ww?t=1516 The second map found us getting drawn into multiple fights low on the German side North of Cappy. Spads, Se5as, Bristols, D7s and Dr1s all twirling lower and lower. Good fun, but not the place for Spads and we did lose a couple because of it. There were more tough scraps later with Greentailed Albs and JG1 D7s, and finally, low on gas and ammo, and just as home field came into view, we ran smack into a low CL2 with D7 escort! Great session, looking forward to next week. Stream replay is here. I'll get time stamps done soon in Youtube description, but there's going to be a few! 2
J30Hangman Posted January 17, 2020 Posted January 17, 2020 Salute. Sorry Baer. I never even knew we had a collision. Did not feel anything. Clearly a lag hit and should not count. Salute, Hang.
JGr2/J5_Klugermann Posted January 17, 2020 Posted January 17, 2020 Tough way to lose a streak. Don't know which is worse, that or getting shot down by a friendly(happened with 2 of my larger streaks). Considering your location Baer, lag collisions on North American servers are an occupational hazard.
No.23_Gaylion Posted January 17, 2020 Posted January 17, 2020 I mean, he's coming back in time just to fly with us. It's probably something on his end when the SPAD comes through the wormhole.
