Looks great - just as an FYI to the team, the top surface invasion stripes of the B-25s were gone before our campaign begins so if this the default skin it's probably worth removing them ?

There seems to be a mix of the way the invasion stripes were retained: 180 Squadron removed all but the narrow strip on the bottom, but 320 and 98 Squadrons seem to have kept the "full" ones longer (and perhaps the upper wing ones as well? See the first image below):

320 Squadron:

But then, 180 Squadron RAF:

What is the story of the the P-51 "Ole IV" with the Cyrillic and hammer and sickle on it?

Originally applied during a shuttle-bombing escort mission and seen also on Ole V, this legend in Cyrillic translates as "Major Vazh Hovde", the name of the pilot’s father who was of Russian origin.

SHAEF mandated that upper stripes were removed by the end of July 1944, with the lower stripes retained until Jan 3rd 1945 when all of 2TAF received the new roundel livery.

I live a half hour drive from Melsbroek Air Base, which is now adjacent to Brussels Airport (Zaventem). I love the views of the map and can attest to the fact that it looks pretty damn' exactly like the landscape we have here in Belgium.

The aerodrome was created by German military during World War II. Melsbroek also was operated by the RCAF (Royal Canadian Air Force) and the RAF during World War II (after the 1944 liberation) when it was known as B58 Melsbroek.

Operation Bodenplatte, the German aerial attack of 1 January 1945, hit Melsbroek hard. According to Emil Clade (leading III./JG 27), the AAA positions were not manned, and aircraft were bunched together or in lines, which made perfect targets. The attack caused considerable damage among the units based there and was a great success. The Recce Wings had lost two entire squadrons worth of machines. No. 69 Squadron RAF lost 11 Vickers Wellingtons and two damaged. Possibly all No. 140 Squadron RAF′s Mosquitoes were lost. At least five Spitfires from No. 16 Squadron RAF were destroyed. No. 271 Squadron RAF lost at least seven Harrow transports "out of action". A further 15 other aircraft were destroyed. 139 Wing reported five B-25s destroyed and five damaged. Some 15 to 20 USAAF bombers were also destroyed.[2][3] Another source states that 13 Wellingtons were destroyed, as were five Mosquitoes, four Auster and five Avro Ansons from the Tactical Air Forces 2nd Communications Squadron. Three Spitfires were also lost and two damaged.[4] At least one RAF Transport Command Douglas Dakota was destroyed.[5]

After the war, Melsbroek replaced Haren Airfield as the Belgian national airport. That title is now carried by the Zaventem terminal on the same aerodrome, built for the 1958 world exposition. At that time, the existing terminal was taken over by the then Belgian Air Force."

Thanks! Did the 3 January 1945 directive also stipulate the removal of the fuselage stripes?

"The team is very busy preparing the next update due later this month which will be a big one, but not quite the final one before Battle of Bodenplatte and Flying Circus are considered ready for release. "

Which means a big update later this month, then another one (the final one?) and  then Bodenplatte map. So let's say...  somewhere in October?

Very pleasing to see this skin:salute:

Really can't wait to do some formation flying with the P38 in VR!

I'm under the impression that the next update will be a biggie because we'll get three aircraft and the map?

Final update and official release will be the campaign.    Isn't that whats happend before?:)

Oh yeah; forgot about Air Marshall mode - which I presume will mean changes to the GUI also.

Well done to the Team for pulling all this off and a big S! to all the beta testers too:salute:

Thank you very much for the update, really appreciated.:drinks:

Some superb images there that really show how good the models look, Mustang and B-25 in R.A.F skins, all is well with the world.

All we really need now is that B-25 with a cockpit and happy days indeed.;)

Wishing you all the very best, Pete.

For what it's worth, here's what vol 4 of 2nd TAF (Shores & Thomas) say about it:

I keep looking at the pictures of the P-51 from this DD, especially of American Beauty lined up on the PSP runway. I can't spot any flaws in the outline of it. It just looks absolutely incredible.

Ohh i hope map will be in next update....map addict here!

Flyable B-25 can't wait for it, having copilot and that not soo comfy cockpit will give true feel of "big" bomber!

Outstanding news. I’m very happy to hear you are still on schedule and look forward to whatever awesome things that are ready for later this month. The Lightning looks perfect and I would be happy even if that was the only thing ready for release. It’s going to take a little while to get used to it, so I’ve been reading the J/L model pilots manual in the evenings.

Map looks great too, I will be blown away if that is ready this month too. Keep up the great work, we appreciate it! ?
