Creep Posted August 18, 2019 Posted August 18, 2019 Quick question about flight recordings made while playing with VR. Is it possible to play them back in 2D and control the point of view using TrackIR? It seems like it is not possible. The camera moves the way it did while I was flying when in 1st person mode. I know that I can control the view if I play it back in VR, but that doesn't work if I want to use editing software on the playback. 1
SCG_Fenris_Wolf Posted August 20, 2019 Posted August 20, 2019 Yes, you can unlock the camera from the player view. Then you can look around yourself, even use the 2D zoom. ? 1
4driano Posted January 22, 2020 Posted January 22, 2020 Question: I am in VR, then when I play a recording made in VR, the camera drifts a little bit from side to side, up and down. Is it possible to prevent this or it is just how things work?

Is it possible to prevent this or it is just how things work? I have noticed that the drifting happens due to two things. First, the head movement recorded is transformed in movement in the "tape", but it looks more of a soft fluctuation. Second, it appears that the VR boundaries are turned on when playing the recording, even if they are not. And if you move your head to the sides or to the front during the playback, it pushes the aircraft in the direction of your movement. It does not matter if the recording happens in Normal, Expert or Custom mode. As to minimize this effect, I try to not move my head during recording to prevent the first reason but the second still happens. Any suggestions?
Creep Posted January 23, 2020 Author Posted January 23, 2020 @4driano Sadly, I don't think there is any way to prevent this behavior. 1
=SFG=capt_nasties Posted January 24, 2020 Posted January 24, 2020 one of the many reasons I dont make any IL2 content....sad as I really love IL2 and know that the sim racing community who follows my channel would be easily drawn in....and already has fast PCs and VR.

In set up, in the key commands section under the Camera option look for 'Camera: Head - Unlinked cockpit'. This will allow you to use TrackIr in 2 DoF mode. 1 hour ago, capt_nasties said: one of the many reasons I dont make any IL2 content....sad as I really love IL2 and know that the sim racing community who follows my channel would be easily drawn in....and already has fast PCs and VR. Eh? When you replay a recording in VR it does indeed drift around and it varies from plane to plane too but it does not interfere with making movies. All made from missions flown in VR 1 1
Creep Posted January 25, 2020 Author Posted January 25, 2020 Thanks for the tip @DD_Arthur! I will give that a try.
