I was thinking the B.E2c and Rumpler C.I  would be great as collector planes. Both are slow biplanes with a single rear gun. Perfect for early war scenarios.

Hmmm - I would say that the B-25 as flyable was pretty much a given to be in the group. But as I re-read Jason's words, he said they have begun preliminary work on a couple.... B-25, at least in AI form is past the begining preliminary stage, so maybe it's possible that a "couple" may mean more than two - perhaps three(?). Wishful thinking.

Could be anything from a C-47, to Yak 3, La 7, to the Skeeter and many things in between.

So far we've always had one German and one allied fighter per pair of collectibles IIRC.

 

Contingent on this still being true:

 

1. Ta 152H and Spitfire Mk. XIV

2. He 162 and Gloster Meteor

3. He 219 and Mosquito

4. Me 410 and Typhoon

 

Honorable mention goes to the Ju 88, the P-47M and the Do 335, of which the lattermost really should not be added.

Jet bombers are right out as with the current plane lineup, these cannot be meaningfully intercepted.

In the sense that Collector Planes come in sets, one Allie to one Axis plane

and with some hot planes, P-51, P-38, Tempest, just around the corner,

I suggest a return to low and slow:

 

For the Allies, the ubiquitous C-47, DC3, Li2.

For the axis, to balance the U2 for recco purposes etc, the Fieseler Storch.

This is what I think are the most likely candidates for BoBP collector planes:

 

Planes with singleplayer career possibillity over most of the timeframe 9/44-4/45:

 

Single-engined planes:

 

- Bf 109 G14/AS (little adaptation from K4 necessary, one of the most used 109s on 1st January 1945)

- Spitfire XIV (frequently used on the continent)

- Typhoon IB (backbone of 2nd TAF)

- Arado 234 (1st real jet bomber, used by KG 76 from airfields on the map in parallel to the Me 262 bombers from KG 51)

- (maybe) Mustang III ???

 

Twin-engined planes:

 

- Mosquito VI (multirole plane, many missions in timeframe on the continent)

- Ju 88-S or Ju 188 (frequently used for dawn or dusk bombing missions)

- P-61 Black Widow (flew interceptions from Florennes and was also used in CAS role)

Well, my bet is of course B-25 and at least two more. Ar-234 and Spitfire XIV.

 

Mosquito, Typhoon and Ju 188 are also a possibility

Would be very nice, but only a very limited timeframe for Singleplayer possible and He 162 and Ta 152 didn´t operate within map boundaries. But technically very interesting planes.

Ju 88 G1 or G6 could be possible, significant parts of the airframe, cockpit and FM are already done and they have the engines (D9, A8).

They did play a huge role as pathfinders during Op Bodenplatte.

Furthermore, they could together with a collector Mossie open up a whole new kind of gameplay during the night.

On the other hand the modeling of radar and the function of the various FuGs may be to complex for a collector plane.

I think given the enthusiasm for the Mosquito, it would be a best seller. As a pair of collector planes were mentioned as being in the works, why not  both a Mosquito fighter bomber and a true bomber version with a plexiglass nose?

A mosquito would definitely sell well. It would also be nice to have something from 1941, so it could be used in BoM.
