BubiHUN Posted July 7, 2019 Posted July 7, 2019 (edited) Just looked at Team Fusion's latest video, where we can see the F-4 is carrying one. Edited July 7, 2019 by -[HRAF]BubiHUN
56RAF_Roblex Posted July 7, 2019 Posted July 7, 2019 (edited) THey did say that the way fuel systems work is being investigated to make it more detailed and I am hoping that includes drop tanks. I think that was while they were talking about the P51 but that should mean the Tempest and others get drop tanks too as well as the P47 getting an update for it. Edited July 7, 2019 by 56RAF_Roblex
Yogiflight Posted July 7, 2019 Posted July 7, 2019 Well, let's be honest. For the missions we fly in game, we don't need droptanks. Those who ask for them are MP jockeys, who want to fill as few fuel into their turnfighters as possible to have maximum maneuverability, so they would need droptanks to come to the action. For me much higher priority would have a detailed fuel management, so it really matters which fuel tank in my 110 is hit, and to give me then the possibility to handle this. 1
Asgar Posted July 7, 2019 Posted July 7, 2019 @Yogiflight have you ever tried to fly a full escort for bombers on the Kuban map in your Bf 109? i can promise you, you wont make it 2

There are a fair few of us bomber pilots who fly longer missions, the ability for our escort friends to bring additional fuel would be much welcomed. 3
Herne Posted July 7, 2019 Posted July 7, 2019 @Asgar not even lower than nominal ? I found on bomber escorts with the Spit V that I had to drop to 2400 rpm and + 4 boost, to sometimes return after about an hour well into my reserve. not tried a kuban 109 career yet, could be time to polish up the G6
6FG_Big_Al Posted July 7, 2019 Posted July 7, 2019 If I remember correctly, petrovich had explicitly mentioned dropping tanks. So they should definitely come. It remains to be seen how far the rest of the fuel system will be revised.
ShamrockOneFive Posted July 7, 2019 Posted July 7, 2019 I haven't read anything new recently but the last word we had was probably a few months ago and that was that the team was working on a more sophisticated fuel management system that would include drop tanks as part of that system. Presumably the new system would let you control the fuel tank you were draining fuel from along with all of the weight and centre of gravity influences that such a system would incorporate. If they are going to that level then it makes sense that they want to do fuel tanks along with it.
