Actually, I haven't seen as generous and friendly a bunch of flightsim guys - with a few suitably grouchy exceptions thrown in for colour -  since the old Janes WWII Fighters forum. That was a classy group o' guys.

 

There are some downright decent folk in this forum. And from all parts of the world. Pretty impressive.

 Thanks Gambit, - but, my username wasn't actually intended to signify 'Jagdgeschwader', if that was what you inferred (?)

It's just my initials, JG, with 485  added out of respect to the memory of 485 New Zealand Squadron (pilots and ground crew). I knew a Spitfire pilot who served mostly in that squadron, (as well as other NZ squadrons, and some mixed squadrons as well.)

Well I thank you all. Good advice. Noone said RTFM. Someone GIFTED me a TOTAL STRANGER BoM premium. He just wanted my assurance Id play it. Awesome game too Im in love.  Now if you guys would leave me alone about getting online so I get a little more competent first.. LOL

Seriously though every games SP gets ruined when I play MP its so much better. Im not in a rush to lose that with this game either but I do look forward to the online.  I still insist on being able ti take off somewhat navigate and land reliably on a few planes of my choice (im.flying LA5 almost nonstop since yesterday. Then Mig 3s I really liked. Finally Yak 1s. Germans Im good with the 109 but the 190 I need to practice. A lot.  Im not good at boom and zoom.  Im a turn fighter. I make it work in SP but I know itd never work online.

I also worry.. My eyes.. Im getting older. I dont need glasses but sometimes I dont know how you guys ever spot shit. I admit i even cheat sometimes and. Turn my autopilot on in frustration so the AI points my plane in the right general direction if I utterly cannot spot the bandits that the radios blaring about.

Until I dont need ti do stuff like that MP is useless.  I know I can take off from taxiways etc.  Im not a realism nazi but I do like trying to play somewhat realisitically..

its simple, more new guys, more they will buy if they like it and then we old guys get more new DLCs faster ( many areas to cover not many time to do it all ) and can continue to play game that is good, in the end its all selfish reasons for geting new guys on board ?

Hey Im hip.  Still generous though.  Ive been a member of the combat mission boards since the late 90s. Those guys are great. Its not something Im proud of but I went through some shit and I couldnt buybthe last 4 releases. Beta testers gifted me their copies someone else bought me another.

This is what makes the wargamer grognards/serious sim community better than the others. We look out for eachother.

And the strategy works by the way. I was DCS only.  I couldnt afford the F14 module.  Lost a job.  I wanted to do at least something nice for my bday. 15 dollars for BoS.  Id seen Sheriffs videos and was impressed.. I liked Il2 1946 but lets face it it eas a little arcadey and I was worried this would be similar. I couldnt have been more wrong!  Tje only thing Id LOVE is if they let you say double tap your mouse if you wanted to make the cockpit clickable. And I can live without it anyways.

But yeah.. Im in love. 1C will end up getting LOTS od my money. (You know youre in love with a game when you decided you probably will buy a Ju52 someday even though itll barely ever get used just because like the HS129 i was so impressed they modelled it!)

Ok SERIOUS QUESTION THOUGH

La5 and Mig3 - no tail wheel lock right?

Also. If I put the radio homing on VVS fighters does it work now? How does it work btw? Im sure I can find a tutorial on youtube but I can open a guide and see rhe cockpit.  Im sure its really simple - is it a matter of lining your plane up on where the gauge says thats it? You know you overflew it when it 180s?

Welcome lad got back into il2 In since 2017 from a long break after 1946 think last time I played it was 2008 hah hope you enjoy it this new il2 is gonna from strength to strength and yeah la5 no lock on tail wheel and the mig 3 does but only to a certain extent. When you turn the rudder it will disintegauge.

Thanks yeah I figured that out about the La.  I mostly have got it.  Another day or so and Ill need to move to MP.  Though Im still wary I only really feel competent at all in the LA5 and 109 F4 anf thats just to fly an air to air SP mission cold start to finish.  Thats NOT flying formation, finding the teeeeeny ground targets, or fighting even the biggest n00b on MP.

Im still absolutely pumped ?
