Quick question- 

 

Regarding the recon missions, the altitudes mentioned needed to take pictures- is this standard altitude or above ground level?

The  Spandau MG 08 AA become very accurate, able to hit plane at 4-5 k ft with consistent results. Was that same before or something changed recently? From book i read pilots do not consider mg/small arms  dangerous flying 250-500 meters above trenches.

Nothing in the mission design changed. The 08/15 has the same skill levels as the hotchkisses on the other side... But I noticed it too that even low AI skill level ground MGs will now land some hits on you. No leathal ones most of the time but still hits. The range did not change but they somehow got more accurate with one of the last patches...

Mission update ready:

Added:  More AA MGs on following targets industrial complex , encampments , fuel dumps , ammo dumps, army camps center, target airfields, factories to make them harder to destroy from lower altitude.
Changed: Some requirements to destroy targets.
Changed: Some buildings at army camp center for hopefully better visibility from higher altitudes.
Reorganized: Ground targets and added more objects to make them easier to hit from higher altitude: army camp center, encampments, fuel depots and ammo depots.
Renamed: Army Camp Center to Army Headquaters

Download of Bapaume map normalized so it does not take so long and latest Nieuport and Halberstadt planes recently released are currently found on the randomly appearing missions featuring an earlier plane set.

New Sunday Missions at the Flugpark Coming Soon!

Flugpark Server is excited to announce that it will begin some alternative programming on Sundays during the Flugpark Sunday Fame or Flame Missions!  These missions will be from a variety of veteran and newer community mission builders in collaboration with pilots from various squadrons within the Flying Circus community. A mission may be a historical recreation of an actual battle while another may just have a different focus on plane match-ups or objectives.  Stay tuned for more information, as we expect to announce soon the date of our first special Sunday occurring in November!  The plan currently is to begin with 1 such mission per month and then expand that to two weeks based on the available additional content.
 

Flugpark Missions is excited about this opportunity to spotlight various mission builders, styles of mission building and mission types in collaboration and cooperation with the community the Flugpark Server has played a central role in building the past 4 years, rather than from a position of competition.  This is consistent with the original goal stated since inception and many times since:  the Flugparks purpose is to provide a platform where the entire community can gather together in large numbers and enjoy our favorite WWI combat sim, with the help of community mission builders in support of the idea that 30, 60 or 80 players flying together on one server is more fun than 15 players flying on multiple servers each.

To the extent that new servers want to prove themselves by offering niche (or even niche within niche) specific events at a unique day/time that seek to compliment and build on what the community has built in the Flugpark Server rather than to compete to replace existing Flugpark events, the Flugpark will be partners in supporting day/time specific events that are scheduled around rather than at the same day/time as long existing Flugpark events (such as Sunday Missions, Black September, Bloody April).

Flugpark will temporarily go offline for an update which was just pushed by 1C.
Patching starts in approx 15 minutes - 1600 GMT.
Anticipated downtime 15 minutes.
If unexpected delays occur that impede reopening we'll let you know here.

UPDATE 1615 GMT - There appears to be a file version mismatch issue with the patch from 1C.  Awaiting a fix.

UPDATE 1800 GMT - 1C will be deploying a fix within "the next few hours".

UPDATE 2320 GMT - FIX DEPLOYED BY 1C - Flugpark is now up, maintenance completed.

Note:  As usual - due to the arrival of new planes, parser errors are temporarily going to occur until we get a patch for that too.

Flugpark - downtime for 5.201 update underway.

Expected service restoration - 15-20 mins (1645 EST)

 

Keep in mind this update breaks the parser temporarily (as usual).  No data will be lost, stats will be fixed asap.
 

Downtime completed at 4:39 EST.
Flugpark came up but service is messed up due to the update.  We're troubleshooting.  All Western Front maps appear impacted.

We've reported a serious bug to 1C related to AI for planes and balloons in the latest update. For the time being balloon targets and the AI Dogfight area are unavailable. We apologize for this inconvenience.

SITUATION UPDATE DEC 20 ~1700 GMT
AI units and balloons restored to Lys - the root cause of the issue appears to have been found.  Other missions will be added back to the rotation as they recieve updates or when/if 1C hotfixes the root cause.

After the release of Flying Circus III another development step of the Flugpark missions has been completed. Every Flying Circus III plane is implemented in the fitting plane set and area of operation. Work has been done to port all older missions from the Arras map to the new Western Front map. Now all missions are situated on the new more detailed western front map released with FC2.
A new and bigger area of operation has been added with the introduction of Verdun, which should take away some pressure from 2 seater operations. Now you will get good ride along the western front on Flugpark with 3 different areas of operation (Lens, Bapaume and Verdun). 
Of course, all 3 areas of operations can be flown by day and night with searchlights, airfield lights and infantry flares activating after sunset.
New targets have been added to the missions: Lorry park, hangars, railway stations with warehouses and depots. To spice things up a little some of the targets will offer some spectacular fireworks after successful destruction.
New countries have been added as well. You can now fly for 5 different nations (France, Belgium, Great Britain, America and Germany). 
The plane sets were diversified and refined. Flugpark currently offers 6 different plane sets which includes 3 sets of the 1918 period and 3 sets of the 1917 period. AI planes have been changed to match the time period. Big bombers are now available in very limited numbers from the start. The quantity will increase with every successful recon. But their respawn time went from 30 min to 60min. Several planes have received a respawn time increase from 30 min to 45min in some plane sets.

The Flak system got revamped. Gone are the days where laser accurate bracket shots swept you from the skies from timed flak groups. The system is now much more dynamic, because your vertical or horizontal distance to the gun will determine its accuracy. The closer you get to the gun the more accurate it will fire. So, flak got a lot less accurate at higher altitudes, but you should avoid it on lower altitudes. To somewhat compensate that there were many new flak guns added to the frontline to have a more realistic effect. Flak guns will now also stay active as long as an enemy is in their zone. This also includes AA MGs. There is also a difference in flak accuracy in different time periods. In 1918 flak is more sophisticated in targeting you than in the 1917 period. When a flak gun or machine gun gets destroyed, it will not respawn for 15min.
Balloons will now be more unpredictable when they go up in flames. The number of bullets you need to destroy it will vary a bit by chance.
Repair truck crews got their Schnapps rations lowered; therefore, they will get your plane back into the air much faster than before.
A secondary objective scoring system has been implemented which allows both coalitions at the end of a mission to see which targets were destroyed on the mission results screen.
The weather templates also saw some improvements and refinements along the rough edges. Autumn and spring weather templates have been added. You can finally fly throughout all the different seasons now on Flugpark. To complete this experience we added the fitting ground textures released by 1C
And finally, several smaller mission logic bugs have been fixed.
What will be next? Flying Circus 4!

The twelve days of Christmas have come a little early (and over the course of about a week, it seems)!
 

Flugpark has added the following new and revised missions to its recently expanded lineup for your upcoming holiday flying enjoyment!
 

Today we are adding two missions from the "Just Another Day (JAD)" at the front series, bringing our current lineup to six varied missions spanning a variety of regions and time frames featuring historical based plane sets from 1916-1918:

And of course, each mission features the historically based, dynamic weather that means no two missions are ever the same (unless you live and fly every minute of the next several decades).   Remember these missions have different kinds of objectives, and features, so be sure to read the Mission Description/Briefing in game before taking flight!

VERDUN is back

and in open testing this week.  A new map by a different author.  Smaller map, updated to the early war plane set, and hopefully better!  Thats where you all come in.  Fly it and test it out and give us your feedback!  Look for it at the top of the rotation.  Its up right now!
