Non working missions (co-op and DF) after new patch...

As the title says, almost all the missions I have no longer work, and cannot be opened in the editor to even try to re-save them, they include all of Coconut's and the Syndicate co-op missons and almost all the DF missions I have in my files.

Some of the missions originally done by the dev team still seem to work.

I was going to add the newest aircraft but no go.   Any ideas?

Nope.  I'll give it a go tomorrow.  Thanks

It works! Thanks JimTM, saved me hours.

I bulk saved the missions and I still have an issue with coconut's "Night Attack on Kalach"  also called "Kalach Scaleable AI", from his 2.006 missions pack.

I can start the mission in a server hosted on my own machine, but anyone trying to join gets a "File transfer error" message and the mission will not load for them.

This mission always worked before this patch, but now, for reasons I don't understand, doesn't.

I have a suspicion that because this mission is VERY AI intensive that the biggest problem with this game engine, that is, intolerance of large numbers of AI, is rearing it's ugly head again.

How on earth can the devs think they can do anything in the Pacific, which by it's very nature will require very AI intensive units (we call them ships), if the numbers of usable AI are still after all these years so pathetically low?

Ok, working on my suspicion about mission AI and objects, I loaded the mission in the editor and ran an integrity check...

So I'm guessing this mission will no longer work because of object density?   Odd that it worked before, and quite well...

Aside from the possible effect of the object problems, try the solution for "Error Message "File Transfer Error #10017"", on pg. 184 of the editor manual. This may allow other to join but you may still have mission-in-progress issues.

The mission is in the file shown in the .list, so I can only conclude that the mission is now totally unplayable because of it's complexity.  Every one of the other missions of coconut's work just fine and they are saved in the same folder as the one that does not work.

If, as has been speculated in other threads, that the recent "improvements" in the DM for ground units, brought on because of the tank game, is the reason for the degradation of online performance, then I will have to say it's time to dump the tank game altogether, or make it totally separate from the flight sim.  I purchased a flight sim, and that is what I expect, and want.  You can't see broken truck axles from the air.

Shades of Oleg having all the clocks in London showing the correct time...

Do not think the limits shown in the ME is the problem. I and others are more than use to not take them into account, for the most part.

Most probably its the new DM model for ground units. I have not seen any degradation of SP performance but people keep reporting bad online perfomance (Devs are aware).

That said, saying to dump a game for a temporal problem of optimization is just wrong. Given their track record, they will optimize the new DM or do something about it.

Sorry but I have to say it: This team has a proven record of underpromissing and over delivering. This right here makes no sense when talking about this team.

i just run test in coop with tm8 using problematic mission from wol ( taman43).

and when he hosts and i join on ready i can see delay on spawn, our in cockpit watch/clock is differant by 4-5s. That will mean players would expiriance lags and gps delays like they do on wol server on this mission.

then i remove obj 1 and 12 moving ships, and nothing els and test again, and i see i join fast and spawn, and our in game cockpit watches/clocks are in sinck to a second, no delays. Reported this to WoL guys. testing more to see maybe certen type of ship could be problem if not to heavy mission.

Haash, I do hope you are correct.  I want the sim to continue on a positive path, especially now that the plane set is getting more fleshed out.  I just hope that we don't lose sight of the forest, for all the trees...

@BlitzPig_EL I suspect there is some other problem with the mission, not related to the AI. The problem with heavier AI or damage model shows itself with excessive lag, or being dropped to the server list without error message.

Thanks for the reply sir.

Anything I can do to make this work?

The BlitzPigs that still fly really like your missions.  We always place a high value on ground attack, as that is what really wins, not only maps, but the real thing as well, and your missions always have good ground objectives.
