David_4555 Posted October 6, 2018 Posted October 6, 2018 So i see pretty much everybody has a "ribbon" or a lot of them with the "battles" that they own (= BOK, BOBP) under their profile pic, on the forums. What do I need to do to have that too? I have only got BOS Deluxe.... On steam. 1
-332FG-Gordon200 Posted October 6, 2018 Posted October 6, 2018 Those are given to people who prepurchased modules. I own all the modules but only prepurchased BoBp thus only one ribbon. I also prepurchased Flying Circus Vol 1 but ribbons for that module haven't been announced yet.
David_4555 Posted October 6, 2018 Author Posted October 6, 2018 So what is the difference between golden and silver ones then?

Gold = Premium Edition, which gives you two extra flyable planes for module, which can also be purchased separately. Battle of Bodenplatte (BoBP) is the only one still on Early Access so the only one you could get a medal for. You can buy it through the store and then link your Steam account so that you can play the BoBP planes as they get released.

Do you still get the bronze ribbon for buying the standard edition of BoS? or do you have to buy the premium to get the post release bronze ribbon, i only ask because I already own Stalingrad on steam from when i bought it on disk back in 2015. But i would like to add the BoS ribbon to my forum profile (as 100% of the money goes to the devs to make more content) I'm ok with paying the aprox £5 sale price for the standard ed through il2 store, just to get the set. I know it's only a ribbon and doesn't mean anything but as all the money goes to the devs and its on sale I'm ok with that, if it was through steam I'd maybe go with out Edited December 30, 2021 by HeerRitter
cardboard_killer Posted December 30, 2021 Posted December 30, 2021 Steam purchases are not recognized by the forum software. @HeerRitter

All my other Maps/Campaigns/Collector Planes I own have been bought from ilL2 store, but I would gladly (re) buy battle of Stalingrad through the IL 2 store as I know a 100% of the money will only go to the devs (unlike purchasing through steam) which can only be a good thing to make more content for the game, but I would like to get the bronze BoS ribbon so I was wondering if it makes a difference if you buy the premium or standard BoS map.. My thoughts are nit wouldn't make a difference the ribbon is for owning the map regardless of which version you buy, but I was just hoping someone would confirm, while the maps are on sale still! I don't know. I bought BoS on steam, then everything else here. The bronze ribbons are, as far a I can remember, for buying after release, while the gid is for preordering. However, maybe the silver are for premium buys after pre-order. If you search around you'll find the answer for that. It seems to me that this board sometimes is a bit obsessed with buying directly instead of from steam. I understand it gets the most money in the devs hands, but on a $13 sale price for BoS, the difference is only going to be a couple of dollars between buying direct or from Steam. If you want to get extra money into the devs hands the best way is to increase the number of people playing the game. The second best way is to preorder directly. The third best way is eschew sales and buy at full retail price directly. Or, simply donate to them. Steam takes a cut, but also provides a service--I would not own all the modules today if I had not bought BoS from Steam.
Monksilver Posted January 1, 2022 Posted January 1, 2022 @cardboard_killer @HeerRitter I believe the silver ribbons are for pre-ordering the standard edition. I've purchased premium editions after release but still got the bronze ribbon (that isn't a complaint though). Happy New Year

Silver is pre ordering standard and Bronze will be for Post release buying of just the premium version.. I was only gonna buy it to get the BoS ribbon so I had a set, bit sad i know lol but it was only a £5.50 in the sale but i aint paying £10 (sale price) for the premium when i got it already+ both the collector planes Thanks for replying though guys that's one of the best things about this game it's a great community of like minded ppl
