Jabo_68* Posted October 6, 2018 Posted October 6, 2018 (edited) Since the update the game stutters and freezes when ground attacking. Win 10 64 Intel i5 7500 3.4 GHz (boosts to 3.8) Radeon RX 580 8 GB RAM 8 GB 1 TB HDD I didn't have a problem with these graphic settings previous to the update. Edited October 6, 2018 by Jabo_68* Additional info.
Mitthrawnuruodo Posted October 6, 2018 Posted October 6, 2018 (edited) Post additional information, e.g., graphics settings, detailed hardware configuration, benchmark results. There are many possible causes of poor performance. Edited October 6, 2018 by Mitthrawnuruodo
Thad Posted October 6, 2018 Posted October 6, 2018 This was for 3.001 but it may be worth taking a look at. Graphics Smoothness

I spend more time tinkering the graphics than actually playing the game. I'm done with it. Edited October 7, 2018 by Jabo_68* changed text
SCG_klobuk Posted October 7, 2018 Posted October 7, 2018 I have also problem with stutters, lags and also frame drop since update 3.006. It makes multiplayer for me unplayable because if there are more than 2 planes in my area I have huge performance drop. I spent almost a week after update 3.001 to tweak the settings and it was OK... But I don't think that this is the way to do this every single update... I'm really disappointed and I think I will quit playing for some time. Its really unplayable for me... i7-3770@3.4Ghz, 16GB RAM, Nvidia GTX 970, Win 10, SSD disk
THERION Posted October 7, 2018 Posted October 7, 2018 (edited) @klobuk, @Jabo_68* I do understand your frustration and I know what you are talking about - I had the same trouble with the update 3.001 and was quite upset to be honest. But with my following in game settings I use since update 3.001, I've got a quite satisfying performance with no bloody stutter in SP and MP (I fly 80% most of the time in MP). Here are my settings in game: Some comments to these settings: - If you choose Landscape filter set to Blurred (1) then also check the option Sharpen (2). This will help you to spot enemies better. - If you're running the game with the same Screen resolution as your system, it is not necessary to check VSync (3). You won't encounter screen tearing, no. - HDR and SSAO are eye candy options with high performance impact. So better leave this for the moment. I have exactly the same hardware as you, Klobuk, and my FPS never ever dipped below 59 on crowded airports in crowded servers like TAW, WOL, KOTA and Finish or Coconuts. So, try my settings and have a go. Hope you'll still enjoy the game with these settings - I for sure do and I have enough eye candy considering my old rig. Cheers P.S.: Oh, I forgot to tell you something about my NVidia Control Panel settings. I was fiddling a lot, but finally set it to "Let the 3D application decide". Too lazy and tired of all those options I don't know anything. I leave it to the pros... Edited October 7, 2018 by -IRRE-Therion 1

This isn't acceptable and I fear for the future of this sim if things like this are not addressed.

Judging by the forum activity, most players are not suffering from these issues. Every hardware and software configuration can behave differently. It's helpful to at least investigate the cause of the poor performance. If the GPU isn't showing 100% in Task Manager while playing Il-2, you'll know you have a CPU performance issue that must be addressed. If not, you may need to lower certain rendering settings for your card.

There is everything smooth and perfect so I don't think that this is HW problem if I can run perfectly quick missions with 10 planes in one area and I have terrible lags in multi with 5 planes in one area. Before update 3.001 was everything fine, so something went wrong and I don't think it's my HW sorry.
Jabo_68* Posted October 11, 2018 Author Posted October 11, 2018 I think I found the culprit, as disabling Windows Game Mode appears to have resolved my problem!
