Thanks, @Chill31been down in Portland ME all summer and didn't know this place was near. Next day off I will have to get there.

@Haggart85nice to see another Mainiac Mainer around. I live much further north than you, though. Only down in Portland for work.

Yeah, definitely worth the trip!  Especially once they start flying the Pup.

Why are ww1 birds always taking of and landing in grass fields, even when paved runways are next to it? Is it because paved runways are to hard on the planes on landing?

That and you loose steering/braking authority (via the tailskid) on pavement, as well as wearing out the tail skid. In my glider club, we used to always land on the grass unless it was blocked and we had to divert onto the main runway because it saved wear on the nose skids, and also was nicer to GA traffic on the main runway, so they didn't have to go around while a glider was dragged off the pavement.

Oh, if I may pry, what town?

I'm in Topsham. Figured there had to be another Mainer around these parts, haha

Home is in Steuben, but  I am in South Portland most of the week for work, driving for Hannaford. I just delivered to Topsham the other morning.

Well now! I know Steuben thanks to my girlfriend taking me there.

I actually was in Hannaford the other morning...if you ever see a lanky guy with a beard wearing an ivy cap, feel free to say hi! Haha
