Me and my Finnish Virtual pilot friend Pentti Kurkinen are going to build these Junkers Ju88 replica control columns later in this year. The first metal porotype is coming soon to my home cockpit that I can test it. My friend is also planning vintage fighter sticks with another type of gimbal mechanics but a replaceable handle. Handles could be of the type of Luftwaffe, USAF, Russian etc.

But first we make this bomber controller which also comes with a replaceable steering wheel  or yoke which could be, for example, type P-38, Mosquito, Boston III etc. according to the customer's wishes. My friend Pena has also designed and 3D printed my current console throttle/RPM handles and he is really great with them. Any alternative bomber handles would also be 3D prints as shown in this image on the Ju88 controller.

ju88_control_column.jpg

The image above shows an early version of a very small "forward-backward" mechanism, but the controller is already almost the final 3D printed output. The image below shows the latest 3D printed gimbal prototype, its structure is now considerably more robust. We’ll soon get laser-cut gimbal parts out of metal and get to test the Junkers controller properly in practice.

Never really fancied using a yoke for my simming, but this I would be interested in. Looks really great; good luck with the project.

Any chance that you can build a smaller throttle? (Half size, is too long for me)

Sorry, I make only these two console types. Jabo-console is the smallest one and there are just enough buttons and functions for the IL-2 Sturmovik GB or CloD. My Both console models are designed to be placed correctly on the left side of the pilot / player in the home cockpits, these are not intended for "desk pilots" with their office chairs. ;)

This is the idea:

Desk mounts?

With my 2 Monstertech mounts I have most of the comfort / functionality of a permanent cockpit but with the flexibility to unclip the centre mounted joystick in literally the time is takes to boot into Windows.

I finally got my Jabo-console.

Waiting time was a bit lengthy but it was worth of it.

Here are my thoughts after a one weeks usage.

This console should be made mandatory for a every Il-2 BoX or any WWII virtual pilot. Especially if you use VR it is a perfect tool. No more need to blindly reach keyboard and try to find G or F or as in my case most frequently ctrl+E

The feeling it adds to game is just great. Sturdy metal case, all those shiny vintage buttons and Fw 190 look-alike throttle.

And honestly just clicking of those buttons and switches brings a little kid out from a grown up man. It is a fun toy.

I was a bit hesitating about its size but in a real life it is not too big. I have kept it temporarily at another chair beside my office/gaming chair and it works fine there.

Only downside I can see is its cost. But hey still all the other mainstream options (Thrustmaster, Logitech CH Products) are not free either.

So if you are planning to invest into throttle I cannot dream a better option than Kanttorin Kone Jabo console.

Highly recommended. (if you have patience to wait its delivery)

:salute: JLean

Dislcaimer: I do not have any relation with Ismo and I paid the full price. I am just a real happy customer:joy:

Thank you for your kind words JLean, I think you are one of my Finnish customer (only two are shipped to Austria and US)? Can you share some photos from your home cockpit here? :)

Hey Kanttori,
your consoles really look great.

I e-mailed you some time ago with some questions (no reply yet)
I also fly mostly warbirds in DCS and MSFS2020 - so will MSFS recognize your console?

I'm thinking about ordering the JABO model - are you again taking orders?

MSFS2020 and DCS are working good with my consoles, some of my customers fly both of them.

Looks like your questions are gone to the spam folder. Please send your questions directly to my email: info@kanttorinkone.com

Our official homepage has been gradually updated over the summer in terms of text content and tonight I made some more graphical improvements: The main image of the site this time is from the DCS flight simulator (Focke Wulf D-9 Dora cockpit) as many DCS pilots have purchased our consoles this year. At the same time, I also changed the main picture of our Facebook page to a new pattern.?

Welcome to visit our updated website and check out our latest Bomber and Jabo consoles featured there. Here are a couple of pictures of our latest just-completed Bomber console. It departed yesterday "flying" to the state of New Jersey (U.S.) as an USP company's air cargo:

Hoyt? :scratch_one-s_head:That flight case has my Kurzweil PC3 synthesizer inside it... I'm a musician too.  :yahoo:

Compound Bow................ Hoyt is the manufacturer....................  It goes in the back of the P/U truck, great protection.  Mine is a bit deeper than yours but the other dimensions look the same.  L/W.

NEW JABO CONSOLE FIELD MOD

I have just had time to fly better with this latest Jabo console even though I designed it a year ago and sales started last spring. 16 of these have been made and sold with my son Joonatan since last March and the next one (No. 17) is nearing completion on the desktop.

In addition to the Jabo console, the larger Bomber model is also going smoothly and the “celebration console" number 50 will now be completed in October. Both models have gone along the Planet Earth especially to the United States and Central Europe but one even to Japan and the other to New Zealand. ?

RPM LEVERS LOCKING

Since Luftwaffe fighters and jabos don't need an RPM lever that's under that throttle handle and thus "pointless," I came up with a handy way to lock it with a bolt: the RPM handle now moves mechanically locked with the throttle grip while comfortably stabilizing and "stiffening" both.

I also tried the Junkers Ju88 A-4 with the same lock and it works well. The leveler but the slightly different response curves of the hall sensors on the throttle and rpm shafts with the Joystick Gremlin and the handles are now completely gloomy. Luftwaffe bombers need to keep the RPM levers moving 99% in sync with the throttle levers. Only when taxing can the RPM be at a lower setting relative to the throttle so that the machine does not escape from the blades.

The end result is that with this Jabo console also flies bombers well enough, especially if the main emphasis in flying is on single-engine jabos and fighters. From now on, I will equip the future consoles with a locking bolt, use it or not. ?

FIELD MOD SOON AVAILABLE!

Jabo console owners: do any of you want me to put bolts and nuts of the right length with washers in that post for that locking? And now miraculously tell others in this User Experiences about my Finnish console, what works in it and where there is still room for improvement ...

I ordered my throttle the best part of a year ago and it's still working perfectly, though that's no surprise because it has an industrial/hand built quality that makes me think it's going to be around long after I'm gone.

The little white stickers on the throttle helped me learn the functions of all the buttons.

I had a query on the setup, can't remember what it was but Ismo's time and support sorted it or rather me in 30 minutes, you don't have that level of 1 to 1 support from mass producers.

My equipment is now quite a mix of nationalities:-

The KK throttle is Finnish, obviously.

The Monstertech table clamps are German, I ordered the very first one sized for this throttle, so having done the original it's now quite straightforward for Monstertech to do a clamp for this sized throttle.

The MFG rudder pedals are Croation, I bought one of the early ones (serial number 0051), Milan Šimundža remembered me when I recently ordered the damper kit, again the personal aspect.

The VKB joystick is Russian/Belarussian - I had a query on the set up and Eduard was very helpful too.

The Track IR is American, but once I can afford a 3080 gpu I will be using my Vive Pro 2

The only Brit part in this setup is me, but I suppose that's the weak link in the chain.

But on a serious note, if you want a high end throttle you should consider the Finnish throttle.

I have had this Jabo throttle for 5 months or so now. I love it. However I haven’t used it much as I’ve been using my Logitech system on X-Plane until completion of my PPL. I have also had a few connection issues with it being a little temperamental and having to use it in a specific USB port with my logitech unplugged.
This issue culminated recently with it being almost unusable and constantly disconnecting in game. It would calibrate perfectly, then start a game and it would calibrate in game. Then when you started a flight it would stop working. With random glitches of connection, like there was a loose connection.

Long story short, I upgraded my power supply to 850W and this resolved all my issues. Turns out my PC was underpowered and the Jabo was the system that was most sensitive to this issue.

Ismo was very contactable through out, and his support was invaluable in fault finding.
I thought this was useful information to share.
Best throttle on the market!

Managed to find your site while searching old posts in regards to trim wheels. I am blown away by the workmanship!

I am extremely curious if anyone knows if the elevator trim wheel uses a single turn pot or multi?

Is it awkward to return the elev trim precisely to 'zero'?

How quickly can you adjust it from 100% down to 100% up?

I ask because I have read many convos online and have found conflicting opinions as to whether rotary encoders vs pots should be used with no real explaination why one is better than the other.

It also appears the pot shaft is directly connected with the 120mm hand wheel without a bearing to support the pot shaft?

Lastly, is there any risk of damage caused by hitting the end stops of the pot too hard with such a large wheel? or is that not an issue?

If these questions cannot be answered then no worries!

P.s. I hope I do not sound like I am trying to be a critic: I am just a nerd who just has questions about the engineering choices because this device looks very well thought out and designed well!

Cheers!

GVL224 ALIAS VITALY IS BACK IN BUSINESS!

Nice news from Germany these days: GVL224 alias Vitaly is my Ukrainian subcontractor who delivered to my consoles e.g. metal throttle/rpm handle mechanics, MJ16 circuit boards (112 buttons and 8 axes) and other smaller components. Buty then the mail stopped... I've now had to take a break from building consoles for almost two years until I got some good news from a Vitaly:

He now lives with his family in Spangenberg in the middle of Germany and has settled in very well. The best thing is that he already got his company up and running during the last summer and now operates in the EU economic area, where international trade is easy. The website is already in the initial stages and the content is very interesting and nice to read for game controller manufacturers, for example me... so I'm soon back in business too! :joy:

Hi @LLv44_Kanttori, are you still in business? I tried to email you to order one of your beautiful throttles but it seems I never reached you.

We made a few consoles that were left over due to the Ukraine war in the fall of 2024 because we got supplies from GVL224 again. Sorry, but the Karelia map project will keep me busy for the rest of 2025 until it is released. So I'm on a console break again. We will apparently continue again from the beginning of 2026.

Fair, I wish you guys the best with the Karelia map, beautiful project!

I'm really looking forward to 2026 then, please put me on top of the new waiting list!

By the way, GVL224 has updated his components and said he'd be happy to provide you guys with the newest ones. :salute:
He even offers a FFB throttle now, this would be so cool in your console in order to recreate the steps for emergency power, idle and other per-plane customization.
