A few of you around here used to know me as Bird_brain and I used to write campaigns along with Extreme_One and some others in IL2 FB. I still fly the sim, but it’s not like it used to be when I could talk to the old Aces living in my town and get their stories and then recreate and fly them in a virtual environment. Most of them are gone now. I am particularly interested in this update since I did a couple of offline campaigns that included the Allied “Torch” linvasion of North Africa. Revisiting a campaign that could be flown from the German, British or American vantage points would get me back into flying this title. Martlets, and the P40s and Spitfires battling 109F2s and 4s. In my opinion, you will tap into a market that has been ignoring this sim since it moved it’s focus to the Eastern European front. Flying a P40, P47, P38 or a P51 is more important to an American than you might guess. To put it in perspective, I’ve ridden a lot of motorcycles but I own a Harley Davidson. It’s not the sportiest or the cheapest, or the most efficient, but I feel comfortable with it. It is ingrained in the American psyche that you ride American hardware into battle because it was built by other Americans doing their best to make sure your equipment would not fail you. No one forced them or coerced them and no corners were cut in putting your equipment together. With the increased availability and ease of access to Oculus Rift and HOTAS controls, you would be silly not to include VR support in this title. I have a VR simulator setup now and if you don’t support it, I will probably go back to DCS like most Americans or fly Bodenplatte. Just sayin’... We intend to add VR as a patch to TF 5.0 as soon as possible after the release. But we can't promise any time frame.

It is really not very historical to place it where you want it , is that in front of gunsight? Would that be ok Hahahahahahaha, i own CLOD and loved the realism. But stopped playing it for two reasons. The small operational area, yes the majority of the BoB did happen over the SE of England. But SW England was also involved as was the whole of South Wales. Emphasis on multiplayer, i much prefer SP due to not being very good at flying the aircraft. Mike.
claw Posted January 9, 2019 Posted January 9, 2019 5.0 will be an instant buy when it comes out. I own DCS and BoX but keep returning to CLoD. 1

It also changes the way you experience a flight sim. I would imagine the resolution and field of view will improve over time and reduce the negative aspects I have no idea what it takes to get an existing engine to run with something like Steam VR, but it is hard for me to go back and fly on a flat screen now.
[CPT]Crunch Posted January 14, 2019 Posted January 14, 2019 When you do add support, count me in. Thing to remember about us VR guys, we tend to be older, into sims from our youth, dropped out for various reasons while making our livings, and can afford our hardware toys and following our dreams. But it has to be there, we've been around this block before.
Jaegermeister Posted January 15, 2019 Posted January 15, 2019 (edited) Your not wrong there Captain, except that computer flight sims didn’t exist yet in my youth. I’m not “making noise”, I’m just pointing out that the titles supported are very limited so it’s a good market to pursue. I’m glad to hear it’s on the agenda, so we will wit and see. II./JG27_Rich Posted January 16, 2019 Posted January 16, 2019 I just wonder if there is an age poll for every sim in it's forum. I think Cliffs of Dover's largest grouping is 30-40 year olds then 40 50 year olds 1
Trooper117 Posted January 16, 2019 Posted January 16, 2019 You'd be surprised in the 60's and 70 yr olds too!
theOden Posted January 16, 2019 Posted January 16, 2019 haha you old farts! I'm only 51. young, agile, smooth, strong.. erh wait.. 3
VBF-12_Pequod Posted January 18, 2019 Posted January 18, 2019 Maybe I'm a dreamer, but imagine a bomber-centric expansion in TF 6.0. All efforts centered on a flyable multicrew B-17F during 1942 and early 1943 would attract bomber guys in masse. Unescorted raids over sub pens in Saint Nazaire or Brest would be a blast. Less aircrafts (maybe early Gustavs and some Antons) and only one map, just make the fortress the star of the show. Maybe would be a bold and risky move, but I'd be in from day one. 1 1

Thanks, my part time contract runs out in 2 years. Sold the company on a 10 year contract with enough money coming in that I will never need to worry about finances. I work because it gets me out of the house (wife also runs 1 unique and another business from home) and I call my hours. I also do a lot of other things beside BOX that keeps the mind very active and I also do at least an hours worth of physical activity per day. 1
