Thanks for all the great videos Requiem.   :salute:

FYI, I noticed that "Learn to fly the Hawker Hurricane Mk.II" is not included in the "IL-2 Collector Airplanes/Vehicles" playlist.

I see you have updated your trackir profile in the original post to version Feb21 but the file is still unavailable for me....

I've been out doing RL flying and wasn't able to fix this until today, but I've added it to dropbox so you can download it directly if you still wanted to try it.

How to I load the Requim TrackIR profile.  Can't see it under the drop down profile menu in the TrackIR software??

I put it in the profiles folder as well.  It doesn't show up.

New video out today showing how to use the AA Truck vehicle. This thing takes practice...

Hi @Requiem

Let me doubt about level speed adjustment (~14:04 in your video)

If you want to shoot directly through aim cross you have to set real target's level speed, but no adding "extra" speed

For example

Ju-52 - 70 m/s,  not 10 m/s

He-111 - 100 m/s, not 40 m/s

and so on

I use a speed of 1 and smoothness of 30 with this profile. Edit the profile as you please.

What ingame smoothness do you use? Default 50? o7

New video out today. I've had people struggle getting PWCG running on my previous video which used an older version of PWCG so it's updated with V 13.2.0. I'll be showing a "Dead is Dead" cooperative campaign using it with a pilot from 66 Squadron soon (plus of course the Flak 38 tutorial which is on its way also).

I also started making some videos for the DCS F/A-18C Hornet as well (these are reviewed by an ex-Hornet fighter instructor).

Starting a new series documenting a Cooperative multiplayer campaign thanks to @PatrickAWlson and his campaign generator. If you have friends to fly with it's definitely worth a try :)

WOFF Wood career continues. I'll probably be releasing one of these every few days. Heading into line check pilot training this month so not going to have a great deal of time to complete tutorials until that's finished up.

I really like your profile, much more 'natural' feeling than previous ones I have tried.

I do have an issue though.  I can't look down into the cockpit.  Just to the lower edge of the instrument panel in a BF109.  So, if I go to look at the trim and flap wheel, for example, it won't let me and/or it will do the crazy view snapping around till I look back up.

Is there an easy way to tweak the profile?  I played around with it a bit, but can't get it to do what I want.

It sounds suspiciously like light interference does that. Light from an external source I mean, like a window or similar...

If that IS the problem then you need to turn the sensitivity down a tad, until it stops.

May be wrong but that's certainly what it sounds like.

Open up TIR and get the dot screen on '

then move your head around like you would in the game

if a red dot shows up at any time during your movements the led is being blocked or is at such an angle that it won't read.

Things to check before tweaking a profile

1 is tir in the right location in front of you ?  (track clip)  tir camera should be offset from center about the same distance as the track clip is from your head.

2 (reflectors )  camera should be in front center.

3 are the dots in the center of the tir screen on the dot screen ? , if not move camera angle to get them in the center of the cross hairs.

4 what angle is the track clip at in relation to the camera ?

if camera is down in front then angle the clip to have it pointing at the camera, if above your head then have it angled up.

5 is the track clip extended away from head ?  in close your head may block the leds at high angles

6 try to set the profile to minimize head movement (adjust speed or curves)

I would check all the above before tweaking any profile

Turns out my camera was too high on top of my monitor. So when I'd look down, it would lose 'sight' of the reflectors. I never saw the LED turn off, cause well, the bill of my hat was in the way!  I finally discovered that after reading the tips here and using the camera mode to see if I had some kind of IR reflections or what going on, and that's where I saw the Indicators not just go red, but flat out disappear when I looked down!  So I lowered the camera and tilted it up a tad, and now I have tracking through my full range of movement, and can now look down into the cockpit.  So thanks, 69th_Panp and Raptorattacker!  I realized in most of the other games I use it in, I never have to look down that far, so it never came up that the camera was so high up.  (27" monitor on a riser, so the camera was above my head a few inches.)

Hey Rani,

I have good original source material on air gunner techniques, but implementing them given how the gunner system is modeled in Il-2 makes it more difficult. I'll revisit it and see what I can do though.

Can you share any tips on elevator trim? I have a good quality trim wheel setup for all 3 trim adjustments, but the elevator has me chasing trimmed flight constantly. It is really my only problem and gripe with the Mossie so far. :popcorm:

I use the dx trim, vice Axis, the problem I have is finding the a sweet spot in pitch trim for takeoff. I can trim it out great once airborne. I've got a R/P/Y trim box coming from Vitaly (GVB) it will be interesting to see how that works. I use Sedenion's 128 dx script so I can use dx inputs for R/P/Y with S3 modifier for H1 L/R Roll. It's a lifesaver.

My trim box is from Vitally, and it is fine in TGBS for all trims. In DCS I am constantly chasing pitch trim. My trim wheel and the software do not seem to be on a 1:1 ratio. Adjusting my trim wheel while watching the pointer in cockpit reveals: adjust my trim wheel, the pointer slowly(laggs behind) moves to the adjustment I set.

The Mosquito has a lot of work needed to make it feel right.  A lot of the birds even with dx trim are either too slow or just too damn fast.  That is the problem with multiple developers and all the different nuances each have with R/P/Y with the stick and R/P/Y trim on dx or axis.  ED needs to have a bit more QA on how they want certain aspects of a module to behave.  Keystrokes are so out of whack too. You would think the P-51, P-47 would have some common key strokes.  Use TARGET GUI for IL2 and have one profile for it and it works for every plane in the series.  DCS I use TARGET SCRIPT 128 dx from Sedenion.  But I have a BlackHog explorer with five joy2key profiles on it for IL2GB (all planes) DCS, P-51, P-47, Mossy, Spitfire and F/A-18, have not gotten to the F-16, F-86, Mig-15, M2000, A-10C.  I'm curious to see how this trim box behaves with IL2, and DCS.  The P-47 is a dream for me to fly, I have no problems trimming it for semi hands off flight, as long as I don't touch the throttle, Mustang too.

Want in one hand.................................................................

Yep. Anything I make for DCS will use the workflows. The funny thing is right now I have more workflows completed for DCS than actual video content as it takes me a while to make the videos for them once I have the flows to a point I'm happy with. Although publicly there are the P-47, F-5, and F/A-18 flows available I've actually completed additional flow documents for the DCS Spitfire, P-51D, and the F-14 (for both RIO and Pilot) that aren't public yet.

S!Blade<><

Yeah the hard thing with trim is that you will be trimming to relieve control pressure, but a given amount of trim is only going to be accurate for a given airspeed. This is in perfectly still air, so if you're encountering turbulence it may need adjustments if you don't have a stable aircraft that will return to it's equilibrium nicely. So if you can keep your airspeed perfectly constant then the trim will be ok, but I think the trim in DCS is a bit too sensitive so it's difficult to find that sweet spot where you can be completely hands off.

Hey Req, don't mind those other run of the mill planes, the Spitty, the P51 and the T-cat, just keep working with Her Majesty the Mossie and harnessing all that goodness in those two Merlins, her armaments, the drop tanks and working that crazy radio setup! That should keep you busy for a while.:)

Thank you for your TRACKIR profile, I was having all sorts of problems with head jiggle and when I looked down&left/right it would jump all over the place, your profile fixed all that.  I can still look directly behind me at my seat cushion, I was going to try tweaking that but I didn't want to mess up your setting, but if you have any tip on how to do it it would be much appreciated.

As long as you dont mess around with the small gap near the middle of the axis you'll keep the deadzone

Hi Requiem, your videos are excellent, I learn with them but I don't get the best performance from them, since my English and I think that of many Spanish-speaking communities is low, you could add generic subtitles in Spanish. Although the translations are not entirely correct, they will help us to find out more things. The first 8 videos of basic principles of flight, if they are with subtitles and everything is perfectly understood, although if you could not or did not feel comfortable doing it anyway, thank you very much, watching you also learn. great job and have a nice weekend
